I love the guy but he shouldn't be immune from criticism because of his first season.

piss poor record in europe. yes the teams have bigger budgets but that isnt an excuse, we have beaten some huge teams over the years and even when we got beat we didnt make it easy, o'neill, strachan and lennon managed to make an impact in europe beating teams with huge budgets and world class players.

piss poor signing record, far too many projects and a serious lack of experience and quality, failure to sign a decent keeper and failure to fix our defence, every window the signings are very late and mostly uninspiring, its either a piss poor budget he has, bad planning or pigheadedness thinking he can turn what he has into gold...it isnt working.

playing around with the squad too much and sticking with certain players even when they are playing poorly.

defence coaches not improving the defence, far too many injuries from training methods and a few players obviously not wanting to be here (dembele/jozo) but still in the squad, he should be sorting that stuff out.

he is getting paid a serious wage and needs to do better, something has gone wrong this season and considering its more or less the same squad as last season its worrying, yes we are ahead in the league but not by much and the way we have been playing we will drop more points, considering the gulf in finances and quality its pretty shocking that sevco are so close to us, failure to build on success is the celtic way.
Last part of your final sentence is nail on the head.

The team's just not as up for it as they were last season. They lack energy and bravery too often:

Not enough risk in possession - movement and runs in behind/wide to stretch the opposition, create space. The weak defence is likely at the back of their minds and also the worry that the final ball will be wasteful.

Without the ball, they aren't up for the counter-press then don't reform to press as unit. Again, a lack of mental and physical energy. Losing the ball is supposed to trigger an almost manic reaction to win it back again in the style Rodgers supposedly favours.

Celtic have performed to expectation in Europe. We beat teams with a lower budget and lost to teams with a higher budget, except Anderlecht who we eliminated.

It's disappointing but predictable. At least we are progressing from being beaten by Scandinavian teams under Ronny, to competing against second tier teams. Hopefully next year we will kick on more.

I'm not worried about sevco or the sheep. It's us that bothers me. He needs to get some intesity back into our play very quickly, that's what domestic opposition can't live with.

Yet we have gone backwards in Europe from last year.

Rodgers said there is a lot of learning to be done from the games we have played in Europe. Just not by him apparently.

He needs to address the centre of defence or it will be his undoing. An attacking style of play is great, it doesn't mean you pretend defending isn't part of the game. Something drastically wrong with out defensive set up. Should someone be brought in to help John Kennedy?

Or the manager?
That's a fair comment. We are desperately needing someone to come in and organise us at the back. Their third goal would have been comical had it not been so predictable.

Well, we got three points same as 2016-17, but went through in third. Glass half full.
The Anderlecht home game was a dead rubber also. I'm sure we'd not have lost if qualification depended on it.

Mancini bettered rodgers the night tactically,he identified our strengths from the home leg and nullified them really well with the right changes in midfield and pressing wing back positions. Brendan didn't adapt to this at all, thats something that worries me too.

Said as much in the post match thread, but here’s a bit more.

We are over coached. Too many players seem happy to repeat what’s drilled into them in training, and thereafter think they are doing a good job.

There is either no freedom allowed for the players to find in game solutions, or the players are thick, or they are frightened to step up and try something different.

I think we have decent players.

Fitba games are puzzles, and you need to find ways to solve the puzzle. Last season we almost always did, this season we mostly don’t when in trouble.

It has to go back to the manager. It’s like watching eleven robots out there at times.

Did the robots malfunction against Hearts and Zenit last week?

“At times”. ..and I’d say way more robots than free flowing football.

Being robotic wasn't the issue tonight. They exhibited that common human trait of shampooting it. They didn't look like they had it in them from the first whistle.

I don't think anyone can decry him standing by the players who performed so well last year, it's more than evident now that fresh faces (and legs, chest, head, arms, etc.) are needed going forward. Senior players are either blowing out of their arse or not learning from previous mistakes.
