He needs a European run or two.
He’s qualified for the champions league two seasons in a row and Europe this season after Christmas. What do people want
If Brendan came up against Legia Warsaw, Maribor and Malmo in qualifying for Europe, we’d have been nowhere near the CL 2 seasons on the trot. Even against the opposition we were given in getting there during his tenure, we’ve squeaked by on both occasions despite being in a hugely advantageous position going into each second leg. It isn’t good enough.
Sorry but that is bollocks.

So it isn't enough now to beat Rosenburg or Astana but we should be what beating them 7-0.

End of the day he never strengthened for the Europa League in January, despite knowing this game was coming up. It clearly wasn’t a priority for him.

Really disappointed tonight.

I don't think we have the bottle for a title race.
:loel:

Do everyone a favour and eff off.
This result has folk going totally loony.

Getting put out the EL last 32 was the highlight of our last manager's tenure ffs.

I am not happy about the performance tonight but some of the reactions are so over the top it is unbelievable. Somebody posted earlier that is was the worst he had seen in Europe in 50 years :cuckoo:

Or do what any half decent team would do and ensure you don’t gift the opposition a barrel of needless goals to give them a fighting chance of coming back into a tie that each of them were effectively out of after the first leg? :ponder: :cuckoo:

Huge expectations after the exploits of last season, but taking this season in isolation, how many would honestly say the manager has consistently exceded (or even met) expectations this season?

Big 45 mins in Russia where we will see what he and his team are made of.

Edit: bunch of baws
IMO in staying in Europe beyond Xmas then we have met expectations - that and winning the league are the two things I always want to see us doing.

Yes, it's probably not been as fluent as we thought it would be, but I don't think anything is cause for concern.

Teams struggling but I think getting injured players back would make a huge difference. We lack creativity and pace.

Our defence is a shambles but who knows if Compper or Boyata would have improved that. Gordon would certainly have helped tonight.

Armstrong, Roberts, Griffiths...? Rogic is just coming back, Musonda has just come in and even Demvele really is getting back to match fitness.

Shouldn't need to add Sinclairs lack of form either.

Have to say though I thought we'd be much more counter attacking tonight. Defend deep, let them force the play and hit Sinclair, Demvele and Forrest as quick as possible.

He told the team before the game that they could still be in it at 0-2, just takes a goal. :hmmm:

Not a knee-jerk reaction, but the return on the investment and quality of football this season has been really poor.
Nothing on the horizon to suggest any improvement on the way and hearing the same old shampooe at every interview.
I believe that there is a real possibility of a title race.

That is not what you said. You said Rodgers team wouldn't beat Malmo or Legia.

He has proved that twice in a row by beating similar teams to get to the CL.

Good excuses.

Our defence lost it, the manager appears to be the only person who is blind to Lustig and DDV.

Edit. That was a bit nippy, fedup and stuff.

Wouldn’t say I don’t care what happens in Europe as long as we keep qualifying for the CL groups, but I really hope lessons are being learned. We badly need a new keeper for starters.

Your right he's doing a wonderful job.

On for back to back trebles and 2 champions league group stages 2 years in a row. eff off ya hun

Deila was on for a treble as well.

He rightly deserves critism when the european performances have been appauling and the football domestically is as exciting as Strachan's this season.

Id settle for the league now never mind the treble our next 3 games are now massive on the context of our season and the spotlight will now be on Brendan as the first chink in his armour the man will be all over him.

He was but didn't get one never mind 2 or made CL once.

For me it is on the players tonight.

Pretty much what we expected before the tie began if the posts before last week were anything to go by.
However, Tonight was abject. If you play wing backs midfielders need to make the box. We barely had a shot and I'd be interested to know how many Celtic places actually got in the box for anything other than set pieces.
I suppose he deserves the next two league games before we really start worrying but it's hard not to feel subdued at the moment

BR has won a treble, and might win another the following season.

Any manager can be questioned but folk need to remember that we're still on a good thing having him here.

I just cant get my head round how the same side could play so badly, its infuriating. Rodgers has to take some responsibility, thought his changes were odd too.

Give Lennon half his budget and Lennon gets exactly the same results on half the wage as well.

I'm not saying he should be sacked but he's here to make us better in europe.and he's failing miserable to do so.

Sutton had a cheek making that point in all honesty (not that you're basing it on that, was just your post reminded me.)

Twice in 2001, he was part of teams that beat decent Porto and Rosenborg sides at CP by a goal, and one week later on both occasions, they got gubbed abroad and outplayed, just like we were tonight.

Its been happening for years.
