He needs a reality check.

Domestically, he's been out thought by average players and managers.
Played = 80
won = 67
draw = 11
lost = 2

win rate = 83.75%

If you aren't over the moon with that, you'll never be happy

And yet we are somehow contriving to make a title race of it.

There are some tricky fixtures ahead. You can’t reliably predict us winning any game just now.

Rodgers has got a lot wrong this season. He’s not above criticism.

I can see where he was coming from especially with the Sheep getting beat on Saturday.

Thought make sure I keep the players fresh for Zenit and Sheep next Sunday and my weakened side will take care of St Johnstone.

All fine and well if it comes off.

However play the strongest side against St Johnstone go 11 points clear and even if the Sheep manage to beat us next week then we are still 8 clear.

If the worst does happen next Sunday after our trip to Russia and the sheep beat us then it will be down to 6 points - which is a wee bit too close for comfort.

I can't honestly see us not winning the league but we are certainly conspiring to make it much harder than it need be.

Plenty of time for resting players* once the league is in the bag.

outwith Tierney who really does need a bit of rest after the amount of games he has played this season.

Massive week where Brendan earns his money.
We win the tie with Zenit and beat Aberdeen then all is forgiven.
For me if we drop points at Aberdeen then we have a chase on.

Just read his comments about St. Johnstone. Actually misread it at first and thought he was having a go at our team for only showing up for big games, then realised he was commenting on the other team.

Pretty weird, to be fair.

I get resting players for Europe but what if we get through to the next round? Will that be another three or so domestic games where we rest folk possibly dropping more points. These ref decisions are only going to get worse the closer the monkeys get. Strongest team possible from now on please.

There is no title race. We are essentially 10 points clear. Anyone who is worrying about Sevco catching us just needs to watch them play.

Aberdeen’s results have absolutely zero bearing on Rodgers’ line-up. They’re an irrelevance to our targets.

They're not getting any closer in all honesty. We went 8 clear of them in September when we beat them 2-0. Nearly five months on, we're 9 clear and have extended the GD.

I get people are annoyed at the flakey league form, I am too, but the season's form from the three at the top doesn't tend to indicate that it'll be developing into some sort of tightening title race.

Rodgers is very good with the excuses after poor performances, but to say what he did about St. Johnstone is bloody ridiculous if we are being honest.
He also contradicted himself by stating that making 7 changes had an impact on the performance but also said that these things can happen after a European tie.
It is either one or the other as 7 players didn't play on Thursday night.

His insistence on attempting to play a passing a game through 'the thirds' with players who lack the ability to do so is costing us, dear. A blind man can see this.
We were humiliated by PSG and Bayern and Hearts and made to look very ordinary by lesser teams on numerous occasions. How many times has Brendan told us that 'we will learn from it' after poor results?
I see no signs of learning because he played exactly the same way yesterday and the outcome was predictable.

FFS - Rodgers can't win. At least a double this season after a treble last season. Still in Europe with a chance of progressions into March and building a young, exciting and talented team.

Must admit, I was surprised to see Rodgers use the old “if they played like that every week, they’d get better results” card. It’s a pretty desperate ploy to switch the attention away from our own deficiencies.

Just a few days ago he was being praised by many on here from learning from the European defeats earlier in the season by playing a more pragmatic team against Zenit and getting the 'big' win at home in Europe that some people were convinced was so badly lacking from his achievements up till now.

His system or style of play isn't costing us dear. It's making for a few patchy results domestically, but until it's actually cost us a trophy or something tangible I would hold off from making that statement.

In terms of setting the media agenda for a couple of days it'll probably work.

If we get through to the next round then I think Rodgers would almost see that as job done for European progression this year and go back to prioritising the league.

Obviously this depends on who we would get should we manage to get past Zenit, but as BR showed with Liverpool v Real he isn’t scared to field a dud team in an important game if he thinks it’s for the greater good.

If we get past Zenit then that qualifies this seasons as a success even if the league ends up being a closely fought battle.
The SPL is getting stronger, Hibs, Hearts, Kilnarnock and the Huns all pose tougher questions than they have done in recent years, so the gap is shorter than it has been for a while. I do think we need to remember that is a good thing and not necessarily down to us getting worse. When you set a benchmark you force your competition to improve.

We still have the quality, but a lot of it is injured right now so I think BR was quite right to risk the points on Sunday rather than the players.

Given how complimentary Rodgers has been about Tommy Wright in the past, it was quite a change of tact to indirectly imply he can currently only motivate his players for games at Celtic Park and Ibrox.

Ive no doubt that we will win the league but I'd like our performances to be better. I suppose giving them a sniff just means they'll be even more annoyed when we lift another treble :thumbsup:
