Just seen the BR interview on CTV. Gives the journo the evils after the Scott Brown question.

Love seeing him slapping them down.
Chris McLaughlin, he wasn't shy putting him in his place.

Wasn't that his excuse for the Red Imps game? He's living on lala land if he thinks our pitch is in any way nearly as bad as that one! And I've played on the one at RP a few times.

The pitch wasn't the reason Celtic played badly, same way it wasn't the reason we hadn't a home win for guts of a year on it!

We played absolutely pish I'll give you that and deserved to lose, as for the pitch, BR wont play Jozo on it and two of our players were taken off injured - added to the fact that it was reduced to the size of a queen sized bed would mean that the pitch was certainly a factor.

Jack Hendry and Lewis Morgan apparently our 2 main targets in Jan
We could be in for them but no chance they are our “main targets”.

Pitch has been exact same size for the last two seasons, so we can knock that urban myth in the head. You've played us off the park on that pitch exactly the same size. BR was happy for him to do so and he knew exactly what the pitch was like as he'd already beaten us on it that season!

One of the players who went off injured played half a season last season on exactly the same pitch, players get injured all the time. If it was that dangerous it wouldn't be allowed.

We've got players who've had cruciate injuries who play on it every second week with no issues, it's up to BR why he chooses not to play players on it.

I can only assume Celtic only ever train on grass?

Brendan Rodgers on Sunday "We can't use the pitch as an excuse."

Friday, uses the pitch as an excuse.

Like when you normally pump us at RP, the better team won.

You seriously don’t think that surface compromises player safety and the quality of football played on it? Seriously? It’s not fit for purpose, not for professional football.

Didn't know the pitch was reduced years ago so fair enough, thought the old lines would be gone by now if that was the case.
As I said, the better team won, we were terrible that day and Killie were well drilled and deserved to win.

But the pitch is something BR has to factor in when he plans the game - its not a good surface at all, its bumpy and our players were sliding all over the place, but wasn't the deciding factor

If it was unsafe it wouldn't be allowed. Some of the sandpits I've seen games played on in Scotland are far worse for player safety.

I'd prefer to play on grass but BR using this as an excuse for losing is just daft IMO.

We train on it every single day, our youth teams train on it and play games on it and we've hardly any injuries - how can that be if it's unsafe?

Agree it's not great, Celtic have played on it umpteen times though. Our players weren't sliding about. Surely Celtic should prepare for the pitch knowing what it's like rather than not then moaning about it? AJer played on it for 6 months and had no issues.

We're going back to grass once we've got our training ground sorted so after next season it won't be an issue!

Steven Naismith said there was no chance he was signing for Kilmarnock in January purely because of the pitch.

Steve Clarke wants it removed, and they don't actually train on it as much since Clarke has come in. No professional footballer wants to play on a plastic pitch, including the Killie players.

Kilmarnock deserved to win at the weekend, they were great. Although you need managers and footballers to come out say the pitch is not suitable for anything to happen and that is what Brendan has done.

We've heard Brendan Rodgers saying that the Celtic Park pitch isn't up to scratch for the kind of fast passing football he wants to play. That's why he's demanded we spend a lot of money upgrading it. So any notion that the Rugby Park pitch wouldn't have any influx on the game is blown out the water.

Good to hear it's going back to grass though. The only question now is how long they grow it ahead of Celtic games. I'm not sure if EPL teams turn their pitches into farmers' fields before the likes of Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool visit but it does seem a backward anti-football tactic the likes of which Scotland specialises in.

Also Killie1997, we haven’t played you off the park since the pitch was reduced. Last weekend was only our 3rd game on that surface since it was reduced at the start of last season. 0-1, 0-2, 1-0.

We haven't played any kind of fast passing football on any surface anywhere this season - with the possible exception of Pittodrie at the end of last year.

The pitch at Rugby Park was pretty poor, and Ajer suffered the exact same injury last weekend as Nir Bitton did the last time we played there. But for Brendan to focus on the pitch as the reason for what was another in an increasing sequence of poor domestic performances is poor. I'd expect that he isn't repeating that line behind closed doors.

I find it strange that you as a Killie supporter are on a Celtic forum. What's stranger still is you digging up an article & then having a go at our manager?
