In his first few months his decisions during the game would positively influence the result in our favour if we were toiling. Doesn't seem to have as big a hit rate with his tactical choices these days
Bringing Griffiths on at HT against Thistle for a right back and turning a 1-0 into a 1-2?
Aye that was just a fluke
Never said it doesn't happen any more, just less frequently.

Our 2 wide men failed to take a player on instead opting to take the easy at tmway out and pass back, KT was the only one willing to take responsibility and drive at them. We should have played balls short into the front men to draw fouls / free kicks, play 1-2s. We were badly lacking in ideas and movement. Too many simply didn't fancy it which was poor. Seen more than enough of DDV to know he is a weak link. We failed to adapt to the narrowed park and played into their hands....clueless

There is a lot of comparisons to the performances this season. Like it or not the performances this season have not been good on the whole.

You can blame injuries all you want but if we don't have the players available to play a certain way/formation then change it.

It's perfectly acceptable to say he's allowed performance and standards to drop this season

You do realise that last season was exceptional?
Or have we become so Hun like that we expect to win every game?
The manager deserves some criticism as do the players involved today however if we win the treble again and have had European football after Christmas then that’ll do this bear
Of course I realise that however I've never once said that should happen again. However there should still be standards of performance that should be deemed unacceptable considering our budget and performances this season have been well below

We need to change things up at times - 2 central upfront with the odd long/direct ball to dembele.
i actually think we need to stop changing things up and stick with the 433 4231
This.

With all our inherent advantages in terms of budget and talent we managed to lose quite handily to a side containing Kirk Broadfoot, Gordon Greer and Kris Boyd.

Yet some would have you believe we must accept multi goal maulings every time we play a team with more cash than us.

Correct.

No excuses today, we were pish and Killie deserved the win. Drives me loopy when people peddle the nonsense about financial disparity to excuse us getting 7 hammered past us in Europe.

Ultimately, it all comes down to the manager, he's been a revelation for us but he's not above criticism, especially on days like today or any of our European pumpings over the last 2 years.

too pedestrian on the ball today, its all very well starting again and recycling but it lets a rigid defensive formation on a narrow pitch sort themsleves out,

Rodgers' achilles heel is his stubborn refusal to contemplate changing the way he wants to play. Fine and well against domestic opposition although on days like today on crappy narrow plastic pitches a far more direct approach is justified. Trying to play the better European teams at their own game just won't work. Our players are not good enough.

Ayrshire huns had narrowed the pitch today both in length and width - You could see the original markings - As long as the dimensions are within the law they are entitled to do that. Doing things like that again narrow the space and movement we have (albeit there was very little movement from some today :nono: ) and aids the opposition in closing us down.

Don't think it was especially for today but could be wrong.

Yer man Lee Clark narrowed the pitch dimensions as Kilmarnock were covering the least amount of ground in the league, so he made their pitch smaller.

Probably not allowed to criticise Rodgers but it certainly looks like he’s lost the dressing room.
Rodgers deserves criticism for some of his decisions and team line ups and is getting plenty so he is far from immune but "lost the dressing room"? - Talking Shiiite - Away and give us peace.

He did change his approach against Anderlecht at home. Probably the one time it didn’t need changed

Sorry bud, I'll look at this season, because great though it was last season is done, and means nothing regarding our development going forward; it's nice to look back on but it's finished.

Again, I agree with you RE the going backwards comments, that is over the top.

That said, I disagree with your final point; I don't think it's possible for Killie to have had it much easier today. You have a big guy up there and if you load the box every now and then you might get a lucky knock down and a chance; today we didn't really have one of note.
I'm only looking at last season because I think its obvious what our problem has been for the majority of the season - injuries to key creative players. I don't think us failing to score is indicative of the style of football we are playing. Thats all.

As for getting in behind - a few times in the second half and the final ball was cut out. Edouard got in, Sinclair got in, possibly Forrest at one point as well. A bit more quality and we might have scored.
If you think that we created chances and are also pinning today's defeat on an injury list, then I completely disagree. Bar Mulumbu, there wasn't a Kilmarnock player who would have made our bench, today. Their keeper had nothing to do outwith a late Ntcham free-kick. The ones you mention were barely even half chances. We struggled, big time, and not because we had too many first team players out through injury.

Rodgers isn't infallible, it's OK to say he has weaknesses.

In general we have to move the ball forward faster than we have been doing for a while now. Not big punts but quick passing with an eye always on advancing.

We do tend to struggle this season against well organised teams - Despite our squad being supposedly strong for the SPL ( and tbf it generally is) the injury list meant there was very little in terms of game changers on our bench - There is a big difference if you have the likes of Simunovic,Rogic,Roberts,Griffiths etc to call upon.

As for Simunovic this can't play on plastic pitches is costing us in terms of personnel - It should be taken into consideration when they are looking at who to punt to replace and get dosh in.
