Is there anything new that a manager can actually say about the game?

And even if it is some new and slightly mystical salad of tactical and motivational words, how often can you keep saying the same things when you work with the same people day in, day out.

I like the idea of the players gazing back at Brendan as he gives another “Any Given Sunday” style speech, but realistically I imagine the players will have heard the same boring stuff hundreds of times over, whether its Brendan, Pep or anyone else.

Is this self reflection from your fawning over Ronny setting in?

Think plenty of players he’s coached have spoken positively of his approach to the game and coaching so I’d say yes.

Oh, a Ronny jibe, how original. Must have missed my varying opinions on every manager since O’Neill on here.

There's a few precious wee souls in here. Like every public figure in history the manager can and does have the odd moment of gibberish. Nobody stands up to having every word they utter scrutinised. There is nothing wrong with fawning over his many moments of eloquence but similarly it will be noted when he does actually, talk pish.

No one is comparing him to pedro or Donald Trump FFS.

To be fair to any manager, in any sphere of work, the motivation has to come from within their team. There is no doubt that the turnaround many players have had under BR has been fantastic, but those same players need to be self-motivating too. In almost any sphere the guidance is out there to improve yourself, it's just taking advantage of it. I think there is a ceiling that BR will hit in terms of improving certain players and I have no doubt that that's why he and the board wants to improve the squad, our budget means that we have to take a lot more factors into account with or signings, attitude being a huge one. We can't afford the mistakes that clubs with a greater foundation standing can when they Hoover up talent. Any players that weren't playing through the pain barrier I.e. Broony need to take a look at themselves over the shambolic performances put in under Deila.

Jibing at someone who supported a Celtic manager whilst he was here is just daft. Ronny had some good ideas and signed some decent players, it didn't work and he was rightly moved on. Rodgers will get to build his team and it will be very exciting.

Most of Gonga's support for Ronny was in support for the training and nutritional methods he adopted, I can vouch first hand that Gonga knows his stuff in this regard.

Just out of interest Paul, what bits have you found pish?
And “some amount”, too. Wow. Do tell, Paul. Even the huns I know grudgingly admire his insight and eloquence.
Paul's busy at present, chairing a conference on the art of communication.

I think your right, which is why having players with that the right 'self driven' mentality is just as important. (See Broony, KT as obvious examples).

This is even more important as we play the same teams 4/5 times a season. The repetition of the league must be difficult to combat.
Henrik said MON’s pre match team talk before we played Liverpool at Anfield was one of the best he’s ever heard.

That was almost 3 years into his tenure.

“Celtic didn’t qualify for the Champions League and they had Virgil van Dijk and Jason Denayer at centre-half. Who do people want Celtic to get? If we can’t qualify with those two…

“I’ve always said that you can live without water for many days, but you can’t live for a second without hope.”
Now, that one did get me - Ricky Gervais would be chuffed with that one!

Still love our Brendan though.
