We did what we needed to do against anderlecht- I know today was a disappointment but let's not play down every achievement over the last 18 months
I was responding to someone who claimed we are in a better position this year compared to last. Nothing to do with downplaying the greatest domestic season in our history.
Saying we are only in Europe due to a huge slice of luck is downplaying an achievement.

Not if it's true it's not.

We were garbage in Europe this season. We lost 5 out of 6 including all 3 at home for the first time ever.

That's nothing to be proud of yet because Anderlecht were slightly worse than us we scraped through. Some achievement.

Totally agree, we played Anderlecht away from home at the right time when they were a mess internally with no manager. To lose three home games in Europe is a disgrace regardless of the opposition.

BR needs to drop his reliance on players like Lustig who is totally done. Been a great servant to the club and may have great experience at right back but he's got no pace and is easily beaten and offers nothing going forward and if anything takes play back to defence too often. Ralston needs to be given a shot. He needs to drop McGregor, Sinclair and Armstrong (again). Ntcham needs to start every game. And what happened to Kouassi?

There is no escaping the fact that blame lies squarely with the manager.

You know what your absolutely right. Oh how I long for the glorious days of getting put out in the 2nd qualifying round or struggling past east kilbride in the 4th round of the Scottish cup

Bit of a worry Murty getting the better of him twice now.
Thats the kind of garbage the scottish media will be peddling in the next few days.

if we went to ibrox trailing by 11 points and drew 0-0 I would be dissapointed at not being able to cut the gap, huns are delirious with a point.
they are now just another wee diddy club who will no doubt dine out with this heroic result till the next time dundee or partick take points off them

btw not having a go at popeyed, as he is just fishing, but this us what the smsm will be spouting
Does anyone care what they say, the Scottish media once told us that McLeish had the Indian sign over us & MON when he first arrived at the death star.

McLeish won 1 out of his first 11 league games against us including losing 7 on the bounce

I cannot be critical of BR's Celtic after a calendar year containing only one domestic defeat, an Invincible Treble, a successful defence of the League Cup and a decent leading margin in the League as we go into the winter break.

However, it is patently obvious that BR's Celtic need this winter break to rest and recharge. It is also patently obvious that we need quality additions in the January transfer market. First team ready quality.

Whole team is playing like they need a hug. Maybe a tighter huddle might help.

Hopefully a few weeks of relaxation and followed by a solid boot up the arse sorts things out.

As far as investment goes we shouldn’t require a single penny to be spent to beat that hun team. We’ve just got a serious lack of hunger at the moment and i’m not sure how exactly you cure that.

What difference will a rest make?

Last season was absolutely terrific because Rodgers (and the players themselves) got lots of players playing pretty much as good as they ever will, all at the same time.

A rest won’t make Sinclair not a shampooebag, or suddenly make McGregor be able to play as a 10, or make Boyata be able to pass the ball, or make Lustig twice as fast as he currently is, or make Gordon not a shambles with the ball at his feet.

At both us and Liverpool, Rodgers had proven himself to be great at improving player he already has, but if we are going to stay at this level, never mind improve, he needs to make, and get right, and few first XI signings in the next two windows.

We’ve not spent the money that we have available on the team, we’ve signed lots of projects, I’m sure there have been some players that he wanted that we couldn’t get due to budget constraints
Brendan Rodgers has spent/wasted loads of money

£2m loan fee for Pat Roberts for one season (plus massive salary)
£5m total package for Hayes
£15k per week New contract for a goalkeeper who will never push for the 1st team jersey
£3.2m for Kouassi who has hardly kicked a ball
£1m for a German defender who has played only 110 minutes in 6 months and will be 33 soon
However much Kolo Toure's 2 contracts cost
£5m on Ntcham ... who does look very good on his day

In my opinion Brendan is going backwards in his second season and his signings have been very poor
:lmao:

Where to start with this?

Brendan created an invincible team with mostly underperforming players inherited from the previous manager. That team always had a shelf life which has come to the fore in last few weeks. A winter break, some squad reshuffling with couple of decent first team recruits he will have us flying again. With fewer midweek games then will help Brendan with more coaching sessions on key parts of our play, the areas that we have seen drop off recently.

WOW

Brendan Rodgers has spent/wasted loads of money

£2m loan fee for Pat Roberts for one season (plus massive salary) everyone would have bit the hand off to get roberts back
£5m total package for Hayes were using total package to have a dig now FFS
£15k per week New contract for a goalkeeper who will never push for the 1st team jersey how do you know his wage?
£3.2m for Kouassi who has hardly kicked a ball he has hardly been here a year, is a young boy and has had a few injuries
£1m for a German defender who has played only 110 minutes in 6 months and will be 33 soon
However much Kolo Toure's 2 contracts cost the best one yet, guy isnt even here and you are saying he is a waste of money catch a grip FFS
£5m on Ntcham ... who does look very good on his day a young guy who many will say is now looking the part is a waste of money???

Brendan Rodgers has spent/wasted loads of money

£2m loan fee for Pat Roberts for one season (plus massive salary) everyone would have bit the hand off to get roberts back Only gullible supporters like yourself wanted him back (oh and BR's agent who also happens to be Roberts agent) ... Roberts does not want to be here long term so what's the point in having him here ?

£5m total package for Hayes were using total package to have a dig now FFS So you think Hayes is good enough for Celtic ?

£15k per week New contract for a goalkeeper who will never push for the 1st team jersey how do you know his wage? Inside information

£3.2m for Kouassi who has hardly kicked a ball he has hardly been here a year, is a young boy and has had a few injuries Brendan said he was here for the Champions League games. It is still early but he has hardly shown any signs that he is a future big player

£1m for a German defender who has played only 110 minutes in 6 months and will be 33 soon

However much Kolo Toure's 2 contracts cost the best one yet, guy isnt even here and you are saying he is a waste of money catch a grip FFS Toure is at Celtic so you catch a grip !! He is a Defensive Coach along with John Kennedy ... hard to believe seeing as our defence is powder puff

£5m on Ntcham ... who does look very good on his day a young guy who many will say is now looking the part is a waste of money??? I did not say he was a waste of money .. just stating that Brendan has been given money to spend
On your point Re toure and Kennedy. We have no such thing as a defensive coach, we have a group of coaches and specialists who work with the team. One of JKs main rolls is set pieces. Out of our back room team JK, KT and CD are all defenders by trade - yet none of them specifically have the title defensive coach.
