Kouassi - barely seen him
Hayes - why?
Gamboa - why?
De Vries - Barely seen him
Ncham - Good signing
Roberts - Not really Brendan's signing
Sinclair - Great first season, poor this year
Edouard - Barely seen him.

9 of the 11 players last night were inherited.
Start making some proper signings, Celtic.
One of the other two was Dembele. Rodgers signed him.

His signings have, however, in the main been poor. Many aren’t first team regulars yet. And some never will be.

I expect Ntcham to come good though. All the signs are there.
I always thought it was the Celtic board who had signed Demeble, but I'm probably wrote there. So fair play.

Regardless, the last two windows have been a joke, and failure to sign quality is what's holding us back.
Our defence needs looked at pronto.

PSG, Barca, Man City and Bayern Munich.

Not an unfair characterisation in any way.
It's an easy and lazy excuse.
Its not, its correct.

Rodgers has more than enough talent at his disposal to be competing better in Europe.

Jack Hendry and Lewis Morgan apparently our 2 main targets in Jan
We could be in for them but no chance they are our “main targets”.
I think Morgan will definitely be signing and i think he's good, but we need defenders and keeper. Preferably with experience, but as long as they are significantly better than what we have.

If you don't see that, yawn.

I was critical of Rodgers this morning so it's good to see this from Craig Gordon on Rodgers.

“He wasn’t happy at half-time and he wasn’t happy at full-time.

“But he did remind us that the bigger picture was to qualify.

“There have been a few occasions when he’s been unhappy with us, but not too many.

“He wasn’t over the top. He wasn’t happy and we realised that.

“Because the standard has been so high over the past couple of years, he’s not going to accept anyone dropping those standards.

“We have to make sure we maintain those standards week in, week out, to stay in the team and stay at the club.”

could be wrong however I don't believe for a second that BR wants to sign Jack Hendry :nono:

Rightly or wrongly, every other result (particularly in Europe) can be explained by his "philosophy" (this is heading for swearie filtering, BTW).

Last night was the first time the wheels have came off the boagie.

By no means catastrophic, and in terms of the group we've done the best we could hope for. But we had the opportunity to put down a real benchmark performance and get a couple of vital coefficient points, and we were really poor. I think we're a much better team than we showed last night, and the manager had to carry most of the blame.

One game in 18 months, and a bucketload of success... but probably due to high expectations, that was a sore one.
fair assessment

last night was really first time ive thought wtf Brendan - even astana away psg home/away bayern away barca last yr

It was the team selection that got to me the most. Sinclair was understandable even if I wouldn't have started him myself - but if you're planning on sitting that deep he's not going to be of any real use at all. I can usually at least try to rationalise team selections even when I don't agree with them, but Armstrong over Ntcham? Inexplicable. God only knows what the thinking was behind that.

I like Ntcham a lot but his form has been patchy in Europe so picking Armstrong for his energy is understandable even if you dont agree with it.

that was my thinking aswell. if ntcham had been terrible in recent games like a month or 2 back fine but he was really good at weekend and even in paris he was better than most others whilst armstrong has been struggling

armstrongs stamina and running power can be an asset but not the way he has been playing lately

Rodgers has been great for Celtic domestically and i love the man for everything he has done for the club, the unbeaten run, the treble and qualification for the champions league two years running, all a great achievement. But he has also broke a few unwanted records like our biggest defeat in Europe and the first time we have lost three champions league games in a row at home and also some horrific European performances. his/the clubs failure in the transfer window has cost us this season and that needs rectified in January if we want to go further in the Europa cup and to qualify for next years champions league. Rodgers and the team need to improve drastically at European football, it is his one weakness and i am sure he is aware of that and will be working at getting better himself and improving the squad.....January is a massive transfer window for us.
