He has been undone by a laughable series of injuries this season so far since virtually the beginning of July, but the lack of progression in the squad since the first transfer window cannot go passed without comment.

Think you've hit the nail on the head here.

Alot are forgetting that alot of big players, Armstrong, Singlair, Rogic, Griffiths have been consistently off form this season. Paddy Roberts has struggled for 100% fitness and form, Dembele hasn't been 100% fit, both our centre halves have been in and out the team.

There has been zero consistency in team selection due to this combined with heavy schedules.

But.......I also feel the recruitment could have been better. Roberts for example, just pay the money, get him in on our own pre season programme. Centre half...say no more.

The bottom line is, as much as some of us like Armstrong, or McGregor (just two I thought of) we are going to need a better quality of player to get to where we want to be.

In today's financial environment, IMO acceptable is consistently challenging for third in the champions league group.

Played 3. Lost 3. 1 goal for and 8 against. Zero points. :ponder:

Same as the number of points that you appear to be making.

Love Brendan but he says we are still learning from these games yet we make the same mistakes time and again. The amount of time players get between our lines to drop off and dictate play is astounding. Neymar for PSG, Muller for Bayern and Hanni last night - these are all quality players and can do you serious damage given that amount of time on the ball. We either need to push our defence 10 yards further up the park and squeeze the game or play an extra midfielder deeper to close the space. This would not be to the detriment of his philosophy of trying to play football and should get us on the front foot quicker in regards to starting attacks. Where has the counter press that Brendan talked so much about last season been in the CL this season? We seem to be pressing in ones and two but not in packs compared to our opposition. How many times did Anderlecht force mistakes from us last night by pressing us in our own half? I can't ever remember us pressing in any numbers in our opponents half this year with the exception of Anderlecht away and that was only due to them sitting so deep and allowing us to play a higher line and come up the park. I think we get away with it at SPFL level which allows us to play good football as always on the front foot but maybe at European level we need a slight tweak without changing our footballing philosophy.

Having a team not try to win a game for the last half hour is wholly unacceptable.

Needs to dump the dross from midfield and either start playing ntcham and kouassi more regularly and buy a number 10 in January or he is always going struggle in europe.

From the players that started last night we need for europe;

A goalkeeper
At least 1 centre half.
A right back
2 centre mids
A number 10.

Lustig and Brown aren't getting younger. Of those that have played in behind the striker this year neither Rogic, McGregor or armstrong are good enough.

Ntcham and kouassi may be able to fill the 2 centre midfield roles.
Dross?

This is what it means to be Celtic.
Turn on you as quick as you know.
I wouldn't call him dross. I wouldn't describe anyone in our team that way.

He was very poor last night and the decision to replace him at half time was absolutely right.

His form has been up and down this season. He's a very good midfielder. He might not make a CL midfielder but many don't. That said there were moments against Munich when he looked very good.
hes far from a very good midfielder - he had a good spell last season but his contribution to Celtic over the 3/4 years has been very poor.

At least he showed he doesn't care who isn't performing and acts accordingly...1st half Appiah - Hanni & Onyekeru were all causing us major problems...2nd half they were rarely seen.

Obviously we can play a huge amount better, but ensures that EVERYONE Fans, Players & Management know we are way below the standard required despite a couple of decent showings in the group stages.

Atletico Madrid apart, we COULD get a decent run in the Europa League provided we start learning from our many previous mistakes.

It's not particularly surprising, it's the same with every manager we've had really.

Jesus Joany, have you seen some of the Europa League teams we'll be facing? Atletico Madrid are the least of our worries at the moment. Atalanta or RB Salzburg could be rocking up to CP.

Yes, our last two/three/four managers never got any criticism.

Rightly or wrongly, every other result (particularly in Europe) can be explained by his "philosophy" (this is heading for swearie filtering, BTW).

Last night was the first time the wheels have came off the boagie.

By no means catastrophic, and in terms of the group we've done the best we could hope for. But we had the opportunity to put down a real benchmark performance and get a couple of vital coefficient points, and we were really poor. I think we're a much better team than we showed last night, and the manager had to carry most of the blame.

One game in 18 months, and a bucketload of success... but probably due to high expectations, that was a sore one.

Kouassi - barely seen him
Hayes - why?
Gamboa - why?
De Vries - Barely seen him
Ncham - Good signing
Roberts - Not really Brendan's signing
Sinclair - Great first season, poor this year
Edouard - Barely seen him.

9 of the 11 players last night were inherited.
Start making some proper signings, Celtic.

One of the other two was Dembele. Rodgers signed him.

His signings have, however, in the main been poor. Many aren’t first team regulars yet. And some never will be.

I expect Ntcham to come good though. All the signs are there.
