Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
We did, and in doing so lost all the benefits of James Forrest’s current form. He effectively played right back for the entire second half. We did get a result that sees us still in Europe, so maybe pragmatism works after all.
We can be pragmatic and break with pace. We didn’t show much desire to get forward.

They stopped us playing out from the back as they committed so many men into our half, but when we won the ball, there was no urgency to get forward quickly and they just dropped back off whilst we effed about at the back.

We can take solace in the fact we’re through.
We've lacked that urgency a lot this season. Hibs and killie at home, Motherwell away the other night. We seem to lack ideas out with our plan A. Brendan needs to try freshen things up.

Played that game as if it was a two-legger rather than approaching it as an individual game - he even had Gordon hoofing it. Was putting too much thought into it. Doesn't bode well for the knockouts - we've been a bit shoogly when we try to change how we play to suit the tie. Just go toe to toe with everycarrot and be done with it.

Tonight and against PSG, are the only times we looked clueless in attack.

I think it's pretty obvious that his style of football just doesn't work in europe.

I don't think he changed his style, he just underestimated Anderlecht like he did with gladbach.

We'll need a striker as well when Dembele goes. :(

I love BR for what he's achieving at Celtic, but the majority of our Champions League group stage matches are painful

Well my point still stands, whatever style he plays doesn't work in europe. His teams aren't well organized enough to get results against the better sides.

The problem tonight wasn’t pragmatism, it was the lack of desire to get forward.
Essentially we ended up playing back five. That's pretty 'pragmatic'.
Don't think the pragmatism was Brendan's doing. We were just too nervous about playing our normal game. Although I concede playing 2 right backs was probably not the players' doing.

You don't get to use that to praise him and then use it to excuse him.

Dunno much about the big Dundee boy although BR singled him out before. Morgan seems highly thought of.
