As good as he is, over the course of his career none of his teams have ever been able to defend against decent opposition.

Brendan Rodgers didn't come to Celtic for these kind of results. All of our resources should be on the pitch.

We couldn't get players forward because we were scared of exposing a paper thin defence.

And the fault there doesn't lie with anyone on the pitch or touchline. We failed to back the manager and we're playing with fire if we think he'll stick around to be let down season after season.

He's not going to change the set up. He's just not

If you're going to complain about it and say he's only judged in Europe, you'd be as well actively suggesting he leaves

Tbh I've resigned myself to never making any impact in Europe again

The gap is so big I'm at the happy to be there stage, especially if we don't invest in the team properly

Dunno how long Rodgers will be happy with that right enough

As great as Brendan is for us, he's fair racking up a bundle of
unwanted records.

Give me hard to beat over some half baked philosophy the players are either incapable or too scared to implement every day of the week.

Strachan, O'Neill and Lennon all knew what it took to get Celtic to compete in Europe and it wasn't going toe to toe with some of the best in the world in the hope that some years down the line it will click in to place.

Hard to beat like NL's Celtic? Who got beaten 6-1 by Barca. Hard to beat only gets you so far. BR is trying to build something. It might not work but I'd rather watch this Celtic team thand some of the crap we endured prior to BR coming in.

This is bang on

He has been let down in summer and he knows who by

Given the number of times we've effed good managers before (and strachan) when they had a chance to progress it would be no surprise if like then we lose another and the best one

Do u think BR and Chris Davies want to see themselves as coaches associated with that crap

Do u think paddy Roberts came back to play in that shampoo

This is a total balls up and it was same in Astana

No one at Celtic is anywhere near the professionalism of BR and he knows what he's doing

He's made Armstrong Sinclair griffiths rogic jozo etc etc much better but he can't perform effin miracles with no tools

Our failure to prioritise on getting a centre-half this summer is 100% down to the manager. He said that himself last week.

Anyway no sense talking about who we should have had and who we shouldnt have had. BR had the team he had tonight and it was his job to send them out 100% mentally right from the start. They were very far from it. He has done great things for us but imo he had a very bad night.

Well if the tools aren't up to the job he needs to fall on his sword and use different tactics against teams like these.

Camp with two banks of four if need be.

I agree with this. If the board didn't back him sufficiently that's one thing. But BR knew what he had and IMO needed to be more pragmatic coming into this game. Realistically we are looking at 3rd place - goals record could well screw us. IMO O'Neill and Strachan would have sacrificed Sinclair or Griffiths in favour of an extra body in midfield. Mightn't have been pretty but may have had a chance of a result or a respectable scoreline. Lennon gave us our most memorable result of a generation...the stats of that game are easily forgotten. Its results that count.

Correct: the only way to get a result against a team like that is with a performance such as the one against Barcelona. They are so far ahead of us on every level that the only hope is backs against the wall. Unfortunately, Rodgers doesn't subscribe to that style of football (some may remember his Liverpool team throwing away a 3-0 lead at Palace late on, because the idea of shutting up shop isn't part of his mentality).

I love what he's done but results like this will continue to happen against such opposition unless he is given an unreasonable amount of financial backing; a CB wouldn't have made too much difference tonight.

We're capable of pressing. Look at Man City at home.

We shat it tonight. Again.

I'd happily take a pumping if we were actually pressing them and they pass through us. That didn't happen though. Far too passive and shipping avoidable goals.
I expected us to fly out the traps like we did against Man City, but it genuinely looked like we were set up with 10 men behind the ball from the get go and only really closing them down in the last 30 yards.

Something was badly wrong with the setup tonight.

I felt he effed up tonight. When you're playing a team like that you need to get in their faces and ask questions of them. For some reason our players were sent out to watch them in the first half with absolutely no aggression on show. We need a nasty streak to compete with these teams but it didn't appear until the game was already lost.

Bit of a reality check for him tonight.

System change and improvement badly needed for the next 5 games.

Yep I agree with that. I think PSG took the foot off the gas second half as well which we improved a bit.

I don't think he has been let down by the board at all, I think the players he wants just don't fancy it or they are out our price/wage range.

We have a good squad considering the money we have to work with and Brendan might have it all when it comes to domestic games but is severely lacking at European level, nothing has been learned from last year as far as I can see anyway.

One plus about tonight is Ralston, the laddie stepped up and done a great job and he is gonnae be a great player for us, he deserves a decent run in the team after that performance.

I thought our big players let him and us down. Jozo was poor but we never held on to the ball in the middle of the park nor up front. The lack of possession would have hurt the best of defences never mind 0ne cobbled together with youngsters and players out of position.

Can folk stop with the 'you can't go toe-to-toe with PSG' stuff?

We didn't try to. Our defensive line, our non existent press and lack of team mate support suggested as much.
