If a Celtic manager earns their salary by Champions' League qualification, and if that's worth £30m, then...
2 seasons of Ronny, £500,000 a year, 2 failed attempts, minus £59m 2 seasons of Brendan, £2.5m a year, 2 qualifications, plus £55m
The improvements to players is increasing their transfer values so much too.
We could pay him £10m a year and it would be worth it.
He is the Ace Rimmer of football managers.
What a guy!
Not fair to compare him to Ronny.
He's had far better resources than Ronny had.

Not fair to compare him to Ronny. He's had far better resources than Ronny had. I'm not going to get into a slanging match against RD.
I'm also not disputing that BR has been allowed the funds (and also the reputation) to attract the likes of Toure, Sinclair and maybe Ntcham.
But one of the plaudits BR deserves most is that he's got more from the same resources as RD had. Gordon, Lustig, Jozo, Boyata, Brown, Armstrong, McGregor and Forrest have stepped up their game from RD's second season.
There is an argument that could be made that KT, Griffiths, Rogic and Roberts' performances under RD were as good as they've been for BR but there is also an argument that each developed under BR as well.

Ronny made 22 signings, some of them on loan. He had plenty to work with and he didn't have Rangers to deal with. Not that they've proven to be any great shakes, but they did manage to put us out of the cup under Ronny.

Something I thought of, Rodger's Celtic team has lost 6 games in total.
3 of those in European away games where we progressed in the tie.
2 of the other 3 Barcelona.
Unbelievable.

Brendan Rodgers has branded Paris St-Germain’s £138 million move for the Monaco striker Kylian Mbappe “obscene” and claimed that the bid – allied to PSG’s payment of almost £200 million to bring Neymar from Barcelona made a mockery of Uefa’s Financial Fair Play regulations, designed to stop clubs getting into situations which could threaten their survival. PSG’s spending is of particular interest to Celtic, because the clubs were drawn along with Bayern Munich and Anderlecht in Group B of the Champions League. “If they sign Mbappe you could rip up Financial Fair Play,” Rodgers said. “Since it was brought in you could argue that it has gone the other way. It is obscene now. “I’ve always been one to pay for quality and go that extra mile to get that quality in – but £198 million for a football player?” Rodgers compared Neymar’s deal with Celtic’s recent £4.5 million acquisition of the 21-year-old French midfielder, Olivier Ntcham, from Manchester City. “You would get 40 Olivier Ntchams for that – and we might need 40!” he said. “It is frightening when you look at what you’d consider to be an average player at a valuation between £20-30 million, but it works its way down. There are players in the English Championship going for £15-17 million. “It’s the way the market is at the moment but it doesn’t make it any easier for us. If we finish in third place in our Champions League group then it will still be significant progress. As I said before the draw was even made, for us to be in Europe would be fantastic for us. “It’s a difficult ask but it’s something that will be brilliant for us in our game.” Having attacked PSG’s profligacy, Rodgers mounted an impassioned defence of Nir Bitton, following criticism of the Israeli midfielder’s performance against Astana in the second leg of Celtic’s Champions League play-off tie with the Kazakh title holders on Tuesday. The Parkhead side suffered a shock 4-3 defeat away from home but went through 8-4 on aggregate. Celtic fans, however, posted scathing messages on social media condemning Bitton’s lacklustre display, although others, such as fellow midfielder Scott Brown and goalkeeper Craig Gordon, were also targets for severe criticism. Bitton’s six appearances of the season have all been in central defence, where Celtic have been short of cover after injuries to Deryck Boyata, Erik Sviatchenko – who could move to FC Copenhagen before the end of the transfer window – and Jozo Simunovic. Simunovic could return for the Premiership visit of St Johnstone and, if so, could be paired again with Bitton. “Jozo hasn’t trained much in the last eight days and we’ll see how his leg reacts to the session today but the one player I want to mention is Bitton,” said Rodgers. “The stuff that has been said about him has been absolutely incredible. I have seen people talk about what we should have had and blah, blah, blah, forgetting that we had three of our main central defenders injured. I do not have magic in a wand to just spring up a centre-half. “We didn’t have people talk about too many solutions. We had to defend over the course of the group stages with the football. Our defending was done with the ball. “We had to keep long periods of possession and in order to do that we played Bitton at the back. I hear and I read and I see the guy getting absolutely killed which I simply find unbelievable. It is a midfielder playing at the back. People are talking about a £30 million risk – we might not be here for £30 million if it wasn’t for him. “No one talked about how he stepped in and made the pass to Leigh Griffiths for a goal. Naturally he is going to be out of position. “After last weekend’s game against Kilmarnock he was in a [surgical] boot for two days. He travelled with a boot and then took it off just before he went into the training session the night before the game. “He was suffering. His leg was sore, but he put himself out there for the team and he went in and did the best he possibly could in that situation and over the course of the qualification. He is still in pain, still sore but this is a guy who shows the spirit of the team and so I feel the need to defend him. “In the end, we got the job done and guys like Nir were real heroes for us.” http://www.telegraph.co.uk/celtic-manager

Nir Bitton - as above post - can't believe the criticism of him - check his CL stats - he is not a CH, but he saw us through the qualifiers.

BRENDAN RODGERS couldn’t believe the criticism aimed at Nir Bitton after the midweek clash with Astana. As far as the Celtic manager is concerned, the Israeli was one of the prime reasons the Hoops landed a £30million Champions League windfall. Makeshift centre-back Bitton was slated for his performance in the Hoops’ 4-3 defeat in Kazakhstan. At 4-1 down with 20 minutes remaining, Celtic suffered a severe wobble, despite their 5-0 triumph at Parkhead. But Rodgers made changes to shore things up and the players recovered their nerve to see out the game and make the group stages for a second straight season. Rodgers, whose side was paired with Bayern Munich, PSG and Anderlecht in Group B, said: “The one player I want to mention is Nir Bitton. I think the stuff that has been said about him has been absolutely incredible. “I have seen people talk about what we should have had and blah, blah, blah, forgetting that we had three of our main central defenders injured and I do not have a magic wand to just spring up a centre-half. “We didn’t have people talk about too many solutions. “We had to defend over the course of the games with the football. Our defending was done with the ball. We had to keep long periods of possession and in order to do that we played Bitton at the back. “I hear and I read and I see the guy getting absolutely killed, which I find unbelievable. “It is a midfield player playing at the back. People talked about a £30million risk. We might not be here for £30m if it wasn’t for him. “After Kilmarnock he was in a protective boot for two days. He travelled with a boot and took it off just before the training session the night before the game. “Nir was suffering. His leg was sore. But he put himself out there for the team and he went in and did the best he possibly could in that situation and over the course of the qualification. “This is a guy who shows the spirit of the team, so I feel the need to defend him. “Astana put every risk into the game and they got some reward for it, but, in the end, we got the job done. I just wanted to reassure Nir not to worry about the background noise. “We know he is not a centre-half, but he is a WARRIOR. “It’s probably clear to say Nir is not a world-class defender. It’s probably right to say Kris Ajer is not a world-class defender. But it took bottle for them to play the other night and that’s the key. “In 99.9 per cent of that qualification phase, a real pressure situation, they dealt with it brilliantly.” Celtic’s players are excited about going up against the cream of European talent and boss Rodgers is no different when he considers his dugout rivals, including Bayern’s Carlo Ancelotti. The Northern Irishman has a belief in his players to rise to the occasion, just as they did following the humiliating 7-0 mauling in Barcelona a year ago. Celtic followed that with a superb 3-3 draw against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City to restore pride and credibility. Rodgers, in France on Thursday on mystery transfer business, said: “Manchester City had won their first ten games of the season and they were blowing teams away in the most competitive league in the world. “But they came to Celtic Park and they got a fright. That was due to the level our players performed at. “That was a big game for us, both in terms of the result and our display. That fed into the confidence of the group and we developed from there. “After that Barcelona game it was a difficult moment, but Barca also did that to PSG later in the competition. “You have to be aggressive in these games. It doesn’t matter how good someone is, it’s how good they are once you’re touch tight with them. “It doesn’t matter if somebody earns £200,000-per-week, what are they like when you get touch tight to them? “If they can still get past you once or twice then OK, they’ve earned their money. In which case, you stick with them and try to stop them again and that’s the mindset we always try to have. “They might have reputations, but let’s see if they’re good players. “It’s a great draw. Really exciting, great games and that’s what you want. “I was on my way from Paris, the flight was delayed and the battery was running out on my phone and I was getting updates on how it was looking, just before I took off. “There are two absolute giants in our group, up there amongst the favourites to win the competition. “I came across Carlo Ancelotti in a pre-season game when he was at Chelsea and I was at Reading and then at Real Madrid when I was at Liverpool. “I’ve come across him outside of that a few times. He’s a good guy, good man and has big experience in the game. “Our aim is to be competitive in the group and everything has to be without fear.” For now, Rodgers is not taking St Johnstone lightly today. Like Celtic, the Perth side have won their opening three Premiership games. Rodgers added: “This is a dangerous game. You cannot allow the mind to drift to the Champions League.” https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/rodgers-nir-bitton-praise

Reading Harry Redknapp's book and there's a wee snippet about him that is interesting. Harry's a fan
" I knew exactly how I wanted the England team to play.
And I knew the man to get them to do it, too. When Tottenham played Swansea on 1 April 2012, I pulled Brendan Rodgers aside after the game and said that if all this speculation about England was true, would he consider coming to the European Championships in the summer, as my part-time coach? I loved what he had done with Swansea, the way he had taken players who had not been encouraged to play adventurous football previously and turned them into outstanding technical, thinking footballers. I thought he would be perfect to develop those ideas with England. I don’t think a guy like Brendan would be a gamble for England at all. At Swansea he had Garry Monk, a journeyman professional who used to be with Barnsley, Sheffield Wednesday and Torquay United among others, and Ashley Williams, 159 games for Stockport County, and suddenly they were knocking it about like Franz Beckenbauer and passing the ball into midfield. I thought if Brendan could do that with them, what would he be like with Rio and Terry, or Rooney and Gerrard?
And Brendan was up for it. I told him I wanted England to play with as much technical ambition as Swansea and that he would be ideal for the summer tournament; and he seemed really keen. If I got the job, he said, he would speak to the people at Swansea to get their permission. ‘It would be a great experience for you, Brendan,’ I told him. ‘I want England to play like you play. Pass the ball, play and play and play.’ Some people reading this may think it means I was distracted, but I can assure you the conversation took five minutes and the idea was in my head before the job became available. I had been saying it for months previously, that the FA should get a guy like Brendan Rodgers involved with England. I was convinced his way should be England’s way, too. So there was never a distraction. I was still totally focused on Tottenham. And we beat Swansea 3–1 that day, by the way.
So on 1 April I was contemplating the way forward for England with Brendan Rodgers – and on 29 April the FA offered the job to Roy Hodgson."
