Delighted with the appointment. Will really get the fans engaged again and renewal forms in the post. Extremely surprised to say the least, firstly that he'd come at all and secondly that DD would be willing to pay. Surely this implies there will be money to spend - would he come otherwise?

Say 5000 extra punters buy season tickets. That's his wages paid. If he's a success he could bring in £20m+ in extra revenue right away. I'm sure Desmond knows it's a very calculated gamble.

People on radio were suggesting Starke or Houston for assistant roles.

Wonder what happened with Rodger's pay off with Liverpool for deal with us to go ahead? Lots of folk were saying it would have been a stumbling block previously.
Billy Stark?! :suspect:

I'm actually stunned by this..Celtic mean business Welcome Brendan.
I'm honestly not. After DD witnessed the semi final debacle I knew he'd pull something out of the bag.
I know he has plenty of detractors on here, but he's a Celtic fan with some disposable income  and obviously
felt the same as we did after that game; ie WTF? This can't go on, time to pony up for the bhoys.

Good work Dermot.

I love Celtic 🍀💚 and yes, I HAVE been drinking.

Really pleased with this appointment, feels like the right fit for us and Brendan. He will have learned from his mistakes at Liverpool and think we'll see the benefit. He's got Celtic in his heart and knows what the support expect. Ambition I never expected to see from this board. Next season is going to be the most anticipated since MON's first year. Hopefully the start of another great few years for this amazing club

Hail Hail

Renewed 10 minutes after I heard the news. I was always going to, but it triggered action.

Delighted.

For years Every time England are in international tournament I breathe a sigh of relief when they go out.

I do the same now when after the inevitable period of celtic replacing a manager comes to an end with a 'thank feck it's not Roy Keane".

Wish Brendan Rodgers all the best but really "thank feck it's not Roy Keane".

what does this mean for Lawwell?

have we got a proper manager?

no interference?

all the managers stuff?

does he take a pay cut (imagine that if he goes?)

rumours true he is gone to Sunderland?

how great will both of them scenarios feel??

Welcome to Glasgow Celtic - BR HH

Doubt he needs the money. During his divorce hearing last year it was mentioned that he owns 102 houses.

There is no way Brendan Rodgers is coming to Celtic to have Peter Lawwell foist shampooe players on him. From Rodgers' point of view, if he flops here it's a massive hole blown in his reputation. He needs to succeed and succeed well. He's not here to dick about.

Wonder if we'll play a 4-4-2 diamond at all.

Liverpool played that a lot when they nearly won the league.

Delighted with this appointment. Hope BR hits the ground running and sorts out the hiring and firing straight away.

Hopefully we can put the last couple of years' misery behind us quickly. This last season just about killed my interest in football.

Tonight I renewed by season ticket with a new feeling of enthusiasm. If Deila and Collins had stayed on I would not have renewed, very reluctantly, and I had just about decided not to renew if Keane had been hired. I think the board were culpable for trying to do things on the cheap once too often, and lost a fortune in European money as a result.

Best of luck Brendan Rodgers, and here's to a great season for everyone at CP. HH
