Bloody hell this thread is mad reading. It's like Brendan is the Significant Other we're feared of losing so we text him every 5 minutes asking if we're doing something wrong.

Place is full of panic merchants.

It's an awkward one for Rodgers. Prior to last year he'd spent his career in England where you never have to encounter things like playing your biggest games of the season in the first few weeks, players turning you down due to the size of league you operate in or being asked what you think about your image being linked to paramilitary banners. Some folk would brush that stuff off and even thrive in it. Others must hate it. The fact Rodgers was happy to sign a long-term contract extension speaks volumes about how much he's enjoying the job. But it would be absolutely understandable if some of those factors, along with the general problems which affect Scottish football every season, started to bother him.

Could be a factor but the lily livered progress resistant board would upset the most angelic countenance. A Brendan v Lawwell standoff might be necessary for Desmond to take appropriate action.

Obviously raising my opinion of how the boss is coming across means I'm just a panty wetting panic merchant, how could I be so naive! :)

Appreciated the actual replies which gauged some conversation.

Think so too. He's either bored of Scottish Football already :twitch: or just frustrated at the team more or less staying the same as last season and no big names coming in propel is onward and upward
Make no mistake if the club do not attempt to meet his ambition he will go.

Unfortunately I think its always been the case that the club is more than happy with 6 CL games.
FFS. Who is This "the club" you speak of?

the power brokers. I feel our board would gladly take CL qualification every season even if meant finishing 4th in the group every season. I don't feel like they care much about progressing to the KO stages and hopefully beyond.

6 games guarantees income and keeps the balance sheet looking good rather than maybe spending a bit more in wages to try and get the team beyond the CL group stages.

Both Stein & O'Neill - our other two messiahs - both had their ups and downs too, going as far as coming close to chucking it but didn't. On that basis I wouldn't be surprised if he is frustrated at something despite last seasons glory year particularly with how poorly the summer has been in certain regards but he has signed a 4 year deal and is a Celtic man so I wouldn't be reading too much into the interview tone just yet.

Jon Daly was a really limited player. It doesn't necessarily mean he'll be a really limited coach, but he didn't make the most auspicious start at the weekend.

His job security probably depends on loyalty to Levein. I guess it's one of the better ways to ingratiate yourself with the boss. Go do his bidding, just like you used to go passing on his bits of paper. Loyalty is especially good if Hearts actually do miraculously go appointing someone with a spine who will demand Levein at arms length and look to appoint his own coaching team.

Daly's foamy mouth act was also a helpful diversion from how bad the team he set up on the day actually were.

One of the guys he was at pains to point out was a wing back in his rant was Grzelak (TransferMarkt actually suggest he's played most of his career as a CB or DM, but clearly Jon knows best). This is a player he started at full back, and who got his positioning all wrong for the first goal by following Griffiths, instead of holding his line and simply playing him offside.

So the bold Jon has played a wing back (his words) as a full back and his unfamiliarity there has caused that player to be culpable for Hearts losing the first goal (along with frankly terrible, weak goalkeeping it has to be said). Similarly, although McGregor was slightly offside for the third, the positioning of Grzelak and Berra contributes to Celtic getting in easily for the third goal.

He then hooked this player after 69 minutes.

All of the above will get lost because there is not one member of the Scottish sports media that wants to make this anything other than some sort of stick to beat Rodgers with, or at the very least, make it about a "spat" between two. There is no attempt to scrutinise Daly's tactical failings whatsoever.

I've noticed he does seem slightly more irritable probably due to the frustrations in the transfer market and GB malarkey. Will only be temporary hopefully when we qualify for the CL and welcome a couple of new faces the good feeling amongst everyone (Brendan included) will come back. He's here for the 10.

Brendan Rodgers is allowed to be up and down just like we have been over the past few weeks. He has appeared a little more irritated recently but it's not an easy time of the season with these qualifiers and trying to bring in some signings to strengthen the squad.

The motivation will still be there, he has had 1 season up here. There is progress to be made in Europe also to be dominant domestically.

Personally I've been feeling shampoo the last few weeks, with GB, UEFA, Rosenberg home result, Armstrong and lack of signings. But a week has passed and with a couple of good results, I am starting to get that positive feeling back.

Same here mate! I think its probably due to the consistent highs of 16/17, when we had a few minor lows all at once it was a strange feeling.

Agree, said the same thing a couple of weeks ago. May be the pressure of the CL qualifiers
We're all feeling it, means so much to everyone. Europa League Groups in the bag is something right enough but we are close now to what we want, then the season resets itself.

No one once thought he could just be frustrated and irritated at the typical SMSM and their laughable, unprofessional questioning?

I'm astonished he's not appeared more moody throughout the last season.

You sound like one of the guys Brendan alluded to. Do you see the sun much, because your idea of the real world is rather distorted?
