Yet again, he pulled off a fine result. He also got Sinclair playing much much better in the second half.
Let's not pretend this was all managed thru

Lots over two legs did not work

And pre season signings nowhere to be seen

So we deserved to go thru but they were pish and it was 1-0

Nowhere near last season's quality and tonight plus next cl qualifier match are the most valuable of the season
I think this is fair. We have far more quality than Rosenborg and the fact that we go through is not due to a managerial masterpiece.
we have only played 3 competitive games this season (all in the CL), Rosenberg have played 20 odd, so, even with lesser players, they would likely be more match fit, yes?
Absolutely great result and the plaudits go to Brendan and his staff for setting the team out the way he did - 4 CL qualifiers, won 3, drawn 1 and not conceded
This time last season we had lost a game to Red Imps, sorted it out in the return leg and just scraped through against astana with a last minute penalty, if I remember correctly.
This result would suggest we have improved as a team since last season, thanks to Brendan & his staff.

Deserves all the praise.

Stuck his neck on the line in this round and passed with flying colours.

In Brendan we trust.

I've kept my counsel for 5 days but I'm still agog and disgusted by Rodgers' pre-Rosenberg press conference comments about the Green Brigade. It's like the woman you thought you loved publicly making despicable and disgraceful remarks about your family. I don't think things will ever be the same with Rodgers and I'd prefer if he moved back to the EPL now.
I tentatively withdraw my call for Rodgers to be dismissed following the tremendous display tonight. An overt display of fenianism in the short term will be required to regain my full support, however.
This can't be kosher...(!)
Have you not seen our idiot fringe lately?

A DELIGHTED Brendan Rodgers believes his players are becoming streetwise operators on the big stage after they dispatched Rosenborg 1-0 in Norway to book their spot in the UEFA Champions League play-offs.
Following a goal-less draw in Paradise last week, the tie was evenly poised ahead of kick-off in Trondheim, but the Bhoys soon established control of the contest, dominating possession and coming close to scoring the crucial away goal.
As the game started to open up in the second-half, the Hoops’ patience was rewarded as they found to net to deliver a hammer blow to the hosts.
It was goal fit to win any match as James Forrest smashed an unstoppable shot into the net via the underside of the bar after a slick passing move.
And after that, the Scottish treble-winners confidently closed out the game, spurning further chances to add to their tally on the break, before the final whistle sounded and they were able to celebrate a well-deserved triumph with a jubilant travelling support.
Speaking to Celtic TV after the game, the manager said:“The things we have talked about in terms of dealing with pressure, and it’s a pressure game –you are coming to a team who are the champions of their country and with a great history – so to come and play like we did was so pleasing.
“Tactically, you can see the players are maturing, playing in a pressure game like that and passing like we did.
“The goal we scored was brilliant - the build-up, the patience and quality and the goal itself - and we were just disappointed we couldn’t close the game out with the second.
“It was an outstanding performance and the players deserve a huge amount of credit in how they managed the game. It was a brilliant performance and now we are into the final phase of the qualification.
“When I came in last year, these qualification games it was more hope we could get through,” he continued. “I knew the guys were brave and they had courage and physically they would do anything but we didn’t have an idea how to play football, especially at this level.
“Now, one year on, I believe we can win. They understand the game, their role and they have the confidence to play in whatever stadium they play in.
“It was a brilliant result. Again, we kept a clean sheet. We haven’t conceded in this qualification phase and the players looked really strong.”
Forrest, the match-winner, started the game as the central striker, with Leigh Griffiths still early in the early stages of his comeback to full fitness.
But it was when Griffiths came on in the second half and Forrest was able to revert to his familiar right-wing role that he scored the goal that sealed European football until Christmas for Celtic.
“Griff had only had an hour of football this year and he had hardly trained up until a few days before the game, so he was never going to last, and we also had to think in case it goes to extra time,” explained the Hoops boss.
“The plan was to see if we could get up to an hour or so with James, and he was very good against Sunderland in the role so that gave us confidence to go with that.
“We still needed pace on the sides, Jonny (Hayes) played an hour and he gave everything he had and then we brought Griff into the game with 30 minutes to go, knowing, with his quality, that he could get a goal.
“But Jamesy’s had the smell of it and he has that quality - what a magnificent finish from him. He was outstanding in both positions tonight.”
The Hoops will discover their Champions League play-off opponents in Friday’s draw, but Brendan Rodgers’ focus is fully on Saturday’s league opener against Hearts.
“They are always tough games but we are playing with good composure and quality, but my only focus is Hearts,” said the manager. “That’s our next game.”
“But the players deserve every credit for coming and performing in that way. The supporters will have enjoyed that. Like I said, we played with great control and dominated the game, and when they had to defend, they did it well.”

The confidence, belief and patience we showed last night comes from the manager. A Deila side would have got picked off on the break last night, the manager set us up perfectly and deserves the praise.

Me neither. Every time I have, he's proved to me what a diddy I am (not that I needed any proof).

I was following the match on here. Thought the sky was about to fall in throughout.

Put me right through the wringer. Still sore this morning from the stress.

Then at the end, it's all sweetness and light. WTF KDS? Should carry a health warning.
