He's a decent wee player, probably good enough for a few SPL sides. No harm done.
Was thinking that myself. If I was the manager of, say, Partick or Motherwell, I'd also be thinking it would do my chances of getting one or two young Celtic players on loan no harm at all if Rodgers Jnr was on my books...

I don't even know what's a whoosh anymore. Brendan has the freedom of the club. He can put his missus, his cousins and his granny out there in Linz for all I care.

His boy is probably a Celtic fan, out of contract and looking for a club, needing to keep his fitness up. Why not give him a wee run out in a friendly?

Can't possibly imagine why anyone would be bothered about this.

If Brendan (and he's earned it) chooses to put his bhoy out there, for the one and only time he'll wear the hoops, that's fine with me.

The seethe in here. :lmao:
Brendan had been fantastic for us, i think we can all agree.

However, if Caixinha (sp?) Had a journeyman son and was playing him in a preseason we'd be laughing like heck
If Caixinha has just had a season like Brendan had, he'd be able to do whatever he likes. As it stands, he's a halfwit with very questionable abilities.

Just think of some of the haddies we've had trialing with us during pre-season. If he wants to give his boy a run out, he's more than earned that right. It makes zero difference. The players who will be an active part of our league and European campaign will get all the training they need. I couldn't care less if it means duds like GMS or Ciftci don't get to come along.

I'm glad I can say I watched the Celtic debut of Anton Rodgers on a dodgy internet stream tonight.

BRENDAN RODGERS was happy with Celtic’s pre-season win over Linz as he handed son Anton a first-team run-out.

Former Swindon midfielder Anton was named as a trialist as he climbed off the bench to play the full second-half in the 1-0 win.

The 24-year-old has been training with the Hoops squad over in Austria as he looks to build his fitness to aid his search for a new club.

Keep up to date with ALL the latest news, transfers and goals from Scottish football plus fixtures, results and live match commentary

But dad Brendan appeared to rule out a move for his Bhoy, despite being impressed with his 45 minute display.

He told CelticTV: “Anton has obviously come with us over the course of the last week or so. It’s just to get fit really.

“His season won’t start down in England for another week or so. So I had asked him to come in, he was capable.

“We had a few injuries to our midfield players; Eboue Kouassi and Kristoffer Ajer were injured. So I know he can play.

“He’s technically very gifted, he’s got a good view of the game and he can come in and slot in with the players and he did that and I thought he did well.”

The game was on a farm, it's difficult to comprehend folk being upset about this, embarrassing even.

I don't think many folk are upset just a bit bemused and feel that it's a bit unprofessional.

I treat it the same way as when we let Shearer score a penalty against us. It doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things but doesn't quite sit right with me.

Will be a quiz question of the future.

Didn't we let Newcastle equalise in the last minute then they ran up the park and scored again? Was something like that, I recall seething after we had played them off the park

I think the ref just randomly blew for a penalty when absolutely nothing happened. Might be remembering wrongly though.
