He doesn't strike me as someone who'd sign a contract like that, knowing that the support would see the link to the possible ten in a row, but thinking that he'd take the next big job in England or abroad that came his way.

If nothing else he's a very respectful man, an honourable man. Sure there will always be temptation if a genuinely big club with a budget that dwarfs ours comes calling, but I think there'd need to be unrest within Celtic as well for him to really consider moving and right now at least things on that front appear to be as positive as I've ever known them.

He's a young manager too, by the time his current contract with Celtic ends he could still have 15-20 years of management left if he wants it - plenty of time to move back to England, to Spain or to wherever he fancies. Why should he have his head turned now when he's having the time of his managerial life?

Plus, and this should never be forgotten, he is a Tim. We all know what the club means to us, it's no different for him. How many of us would move to Arsenal or anywhere else at this moment in time if we were in his shoes? Professional ambitions are all well and good, but personally if I were Celtic manager right now and Barca, Real, Bayern and Juventus were all begging me to join them I'd be telling them to come back in a few years and then maybe we'd talk.

The 4 year deal was more of a symbolic gesture and commitment than a compensation safety net.

Definitely this scenario is the one on the table - I will go as far as to say the negative scenario is bollocks and I'll take the flack on here if proven wrong - Rodgers himself says things can always change in football but he in terms of the Celtic job he was specifically referencing him failing.

You can't always believe everything people in Celtic say - One told me in all seriousness that after his first season Ronny Deila had high ambitions for himself, was touting himself about the place and it was felt by some within the Club we might not be able to hang on to him.
To be fair early on in the first season we played some good stuff I remember us grubbing Dundee Utd and I did think a rolling one year contract wasn't very secure.

That was the game shortly after the Legia Warsaw shambles ?

But before the Maribor shambles ?

I think the adulation he is getting from the support means alot to him. I believe him when he says he doesn't want to let anyone down.

I have no doubt that he would, one day, like a 'bigger' job. I don't think it'll be in England though. Spain would be my guess.

The biggest jobs aren't always the best paid. Rodgers loves it here, why cant everyone just be happy knowing that currently our team are lording it and I have no doubt it rodgers gets his men in the summer there will be a few excavators hired to increase the gap between us and the filth.

I don't think there is a bigger job than trying to push the club you support onto bigger things in Europe.
