Like everyone, I love him. I particulalry like the fact that during a game, we play both a back three and a back four, with lustig becoming a centre back and Forrest /Roberts becoming a wing back. I also like the fact that no pundit, apart from Thompson on the BBC, has picked up on it, despite him using it since February. So ahead tactically that even most watching it can't understand it, never mind opposition stop it. All doing so with his players knowing exactly what to do at all times and following all his instructions.

Certainly I noticed it myself at the Wolfsburg pre-season friendly - and I'm no tactical genius.

Mario Balotelli on Twitter saying Brendan Rodgers is the best manager he has ever played for. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/05/03/mario-balotelli-fires-back-brendan-rodgers-best-player-joke/Mario Balotelli has hit back at to Brendan Rodgers after the Celtic manager jokingly claimed the striker was the 'best player' he had managed. The former Liverpool manager was speaking at Celtic's Player of the Year awards ceremony when he was asked to pick the greatest player he has had the pleasure of managing. Despite working with stars such as Luis Suarez, Steven Gerrard and Philippe Coutinho, Rodgers gave a tongue-in-cheek response, insisting Mario Balotelli was the best he had coached. The Italian striker scored just one competitive goal in his ill-fated season at Anfield and Rodgers' joke at his expense soon came to the attention of the 26-year-old, who is currently enjoying a return to form with Ligue 1 side Nice. Mirroring his former manager's sarcastic response, Balotelli wrote on Twitter: "Brendan Rodgers you are also the best manager I ever had. Amazing." Follow Mario Balotelli ✔ @FinallyMario Brendan Rodgers you are also the best manager I ever had😂😘😘. Amazing. 12:35 PM - 3 May 2017 13,916 13,916 Retweets 27,368 27,368 likes Rodgers brought Balotelli to Liverpool in August 2014 for a £16m fee, which the Liverpool manager later described as a bargain. However the former Inter Milan striker failed to live up to his price tag, scoring just once before being loaned back to AC Milan. Balotelli famously called former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher a "wonderful hater" and a "bad player" after the Sky Sports pundit celebrated Italian's free transfer to Nice at the start of this season. Stick on to get Nice in the CL now.

THE Patrick Roberts deal always felt like a paradigm shift when it came to Celtic transfers. Rather than buying potential at the bottom end of the market, developing it, and selling it on - see Victor Wanyama and Virgil van Dijk - here was a chance to borrow for 18 months a teenager in whom one of the world's richest clubs already had a serious investment. Rather than earning the club a multi-million transfer fee, Roberts' main task at Parkhead was justifying the £12m that City had already spent on him. The only problem is that the more successful he has become, the sadder the club's supporters have become about having to hand this PFA Scotland young player of the year nominee back. The easy accusation is of short-termism, but Brendan Rodgers feels there are long-term spin-offs from this kind of arrangement, however intangible. And he reckons more Barclays Premier League clubs should be queuing up to loan their prime young talent to the club - even if he will never take a young English-based starlet when there is a youngster of similar quality in his own academy. With the Ladbrokes Premiership title already in the bag, the Northern Irishman is ready to give youth a chance against St Johnstone this afternoon, with full back Tony Ralston in contention for a start in place of the rested Mikael Lustig. But as much as blooding young players is part of his DNA as a coach, he feels that further successful loan deals for future Barclays Premier League superstars make sense. Rather than developing players for other clubs, the 44-year-old sees it as a way to recruit a higher standard of player than the club could normally afford and making connections which could lead to permanent signings in the future. "There is a huge amount of investment going into academies in England, but there is nowhere for the players to play," said Rodgers. "You have some of the best young players in world football and they don't get a game. So if you are looking for a loan for one of your young players who, okay, might not get a game right now but could be ready in two or three years' time, where are you going to send them? This is the type of club Celtic is. They are going to be educated in football and life here, train well and go back a better player. This is the environment we have here. "I don't see it as developing players for other clubs," he added. "I have a duty to bring in the best players. And I see it as an opportunity. I took Gylfi [Sigurdsson] and put him in the team when I was manager at Reading. He got a £10m move on the back of that to Hoffenheim. I went in at Swansea and he wasn't enjoying his time there. So I took him in on a loan at Swansea and got him back enjoying his football. I then went to Liverpool, he went to Tottenham, and it didn't work out. So where does he want to go after? He goes back to Swansea. So you never know what can lead from it. "But I will never take a boy if he is close to another boy that we have here already. The first look is within, always." On that subject, Rodgers sees plenty of talent in the youth academy he has at Parkhead. It is just now a matter of timing, with the manager determined that any young players will have to earn their first team chance. There is already clamour, for instance, to introduce Jack Aitchison, the17-year-old who is away playing with Scotland's Under-17 team, but Rodgers feels that only the most special talents can cut it at first team level at that age. "Some of the young boys will get involved at the weekend," said Rodgers. "But there is nothing free in this game. There can't be. Years ago, you earned it. But I love doing it. I go back to my first job at Watford and my first signing was an 18-year-old midfield player who I took on-loan and is now captain of Leeds, Liam Bridcutt. At Swansea I put Joe Allen in and put Steven Caulker into the team when he was 19. At Liverpool we had Raheem [Sterling] at 17 and other young players but it is just timing and they have to have the quality. "There are a number of young players here and when we get the right moment they will get the opportunity to play. This season it has been difficult because of the level the [first team] players have been playing at. It is a heavy shirt, the Celtic shirt, and you have to be ready to wear it. A lot of players can't cope with it. It is not just a case of throwing them in and then chucking them to the garbage. Stay calm, let them learn their trade. They might need to get experience outside of here to get experience in here." As for what happens with Roberts this summer, Rodgers feels it would do him no harm to continue in Scotland and wouldn't think twice should Manchester City make him available on a permanent transfer this summer. "I would definitely take him, there is no question about that,Like I say, it is about his career path. He is 19 and you would want that to continue. It certainly wouldn't harm Pat to come here for the next two or three years, and just continue that development." http://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/15269120.Brendan_Rodgers__Loan_deals_for_Premiership_stars_like_Patrick_Roberts_is_the_way_ahead_for_Celtic/

Roberts is set to return to parent club Manchester City for pre-season training after maturing in an 18-month loan deal at Parkhead. The 20-year-old may return on a permanent deal or loan next season if he gets no encouragement at City. And Rodgers, above, reckons Roberts’ success in Glasgow will act as a spur for other English wonderkids and their clubs to look north of the border. Rodgers said: “In England you have some of the best young players in world football who don’t get a game. “So if you are looking for a loan for one of your young players who might not get a game but could be ready in two or three years’ time, where do you send them? “At Celtic, they’re going to be educated in football and life and train well. Patrick has done that and in every facet of play he goes back a better player. “He will have left a real imprint on his game here. “If there is a possibility of him coming back as a permanent player then Celtic will have a good feeling for him.” However, Rodgers hasn’t forgotten about Celtic’s academy, as 18-year-old right-back Anthony Ralston, is in line to feature against St Johnstone today, with Mikael Lustig having been given time off to rest. http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/800958/Patrick-Roberts-England-Celtic-Scottish-Cup-Final-Scotland-News-Gossip

I consider myself very fortunate to have been brought up a Celtic supporter. I love this club. I love its founding, its ethos, its history, its personality, I love its players, its managers and its fans. Maybe supporters of other clubs might say similar things but with us and Celtic I genuinely believe it's unique, and it's the real thing. To have a manager who seems to share that feeling makes everything feel even more special.
To follow anyone else...well, it'd be a functional, sterile, humdrum endeavour. Hardly worth the time.

What a difference he has made. I wouldn't have bothered if Lustig, Boyata, Simumovic, Brown, Forrest, Armstrong, McGregor left. He has them playing well again. His signings have generally worked and he just makes me smile when he talks. He's a keeper.

Just listening to the man in his post-match interview on Radio Scotland made me feel about ten foot tall. It's evident that his effect on the players is even greater.
Four games away from an historic season. Fully convinced that he'll make sure we get over the line.

Right manager and the right time with the right players I missed Seville because of exams and I thought then that was my chance to see us in a European final gone forever, but with Brendan, there is something magic in the air.

Posted this in the sticky above, but just as relevant here...
The mark of the best team isn't just how many points you end up with, or the gap at the end of the season. It's how dominant you are at the winning post. This team has proven their class already. To keep going though, while some of our best teams downed tools when the jobs was done, that's something that BR and the players can be incredibly proud of.
