Alex O'Henley saying on Twitter that Rodgers wants Steve Clarke as assistant
http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/west-brom-manager-steve-clarke-bears-no-grudge-despite-revealing-he-was-sacked-by-liverpool-8056889.html

Seems to have wanted him as part of his team at Liverpool. Clarke is a very good coach. I think he would add a bit of substance to the style of football Rodgers will want us to play.

Could only see it happening if he was made next in the line for the manager's job.

That'd be another mightily impressive appointment.
I think Rodgers will only be here for 2 years, max 3... he will build up his reputation and have another stab at England. He was interviewed by Man City and if he wins a few trophies and does well, he may well earn a big job.

Who ever we appoint as Assistant may have one eye on being his replacement. Steve Clarke would definately fancy the long term opportunity to manage Celtic and is out f work. He knows Rodgers from Chelsea and is far more pragmatic and defensive minded.

Likewise Malky Mackay has worked with Rodgers before and it desperate to get back in the game and rebuild his own reputation. It may not be palatable for some, but the board may see the appointment of the popular Rodgers as a chance to bring Malky in 'under the radar' again with a long term view to manage the team.

Alternately, there were rumours that Hartley has spoke to the club, maybe the club will opt for a young up and coming 'celtic minded' manager to work alongside Rodgers again learning from him with a view to take over.

My choice would be Clarke.

I'll be honest I wouldn't have been overly bothered if he had got the job this time around. If he spent a couple of years as part of a successful backroom team then I don't think many people would have any issues with him taking over.
