Rodgers' record as Celtic manager atm: P49 W38 (77.6%) D6 (12.2%) L5 (10.2%) F121 A42 GD +79

As of April 2nd, he's secured the first 2 trophies - & 6IAR - of our soon-to-be treble. We are 37 consecutive domestic games unbeaten.

He become the first Celtic manager to qualify for the Champions League in his first season - seeing Celtic back after a 3 year absence - and despite ultimately finishing bottom, we earned 3 valuable draws in a group of death. This included a phenomenal game ending Guardiola's winning run, and going very close to beating a Bundesliga team away from home. He made 2 monumental signings in Sinclair and Dembele, with Toure also pivotal in seeing us through the UCL qualifiers, and fingers crossed re Eboue Kouassi.

He's demonstrated top class man management skills. Gordon, Gamboa, Boyata, Simunovic, Forrest, Brown, Armstrong, McGregor and Rogic have all to various degrees gained confidence, adapted their game, improved their work ethic or have simply contributed far more than was seen under the previous manager.

His success thus far has also signified a change in dynamic at the club. Unlike previous Celtic managers post-O'Neill, he has complete authority and control of the football department. He has installed tactical fluidity in any given game, and has shown to be able to make tough decisions i.e gradually diminishing Toure's role in the team, as well as proving he isn't stubborn when quickly ditching De Vries - someone he lavished with praise and indicated would be Celtic's #1 - for Gordon to reclaim the mantle.

I'm not one for schmaltz but while it's always a joy being a Celtic fan, this season has been way beyond my expectations and it's like last year never happened. I truly hope the juggernaut rolls on and on for many weeks, months and years to come with Brendan at the helm.

I was underwhelmed with his appointment (perhaps because I haven't watched the EPL in over 10 years) and I thought he flopped under the pressure and expectation at Liverpool after nearly winning it the year before, I honestly thought we had gone for a higher profile Mowbray....then the Imps game came along and I was 100% sure I was correct in my orginal assumption.....but OMG this guy has a team out there now that I am proud of and that I truly beleive can make some progress in Europe!

Cheers Brendan hope you are enjoying the journey!

No Trolling here friend.

I know he hasn't achieved anything near what MON has yet but he's restored pride in our club and done an unbelievable job with that squad since he came. He's brilliant at dealing with the media, possibly even calmer than MON when faced with loaded questions too.

If he stays for the next 4 years he will win more trophies than MON. Whether he can build a better side remains to be seen, but I wouldn't put it past him.
I'm sorry but at the moment he's absolutely nowhere near MON.

When MON took over we had won 1 of the previous 12 league titles & had a massive inferiority complex when it came to Oldco. In 9 months there was a 40 point swing from the best Huns team I've seen under the little genital to us.

Year 2, our first title defence in 20 years.

Year 3, a European final.

Year 4, a Celtic team whose league record to this very weekend, the current team still trails. For what it's worth the 03/04 team is the greatest Celtic side in my lifetime.

Qualifying for the Champions League, remaining undefeated in the league with a potential treble is brilliant, but to be up there with MON it's not enough.
He's better than MON.

That remains to be seen. MON set such a high standard; Stein is the only manager ahead of him in living memory.

If Brendan goes on to surpass MON then he'll have achieved something very special indeed.

I don't think the fact that it was Hibs rather than Motherwell changes my argument. We didn't lose 4-0 to Sevco last season and BR has been denied that opportunity to reverse. We also deservedly lost 5-1 to Rangers in MON's first season and it could have been more, arguably more emphatic than our 6-2.

I think the comparison is provisionally valid. I'm as excited as I was in 2000-01.

PS So what match am I recalling that John Kennedy made a mistake that resulted in a 1-0 defeat? Had it in my head it was Motherwell with McFadden scoring. Obviously not.
Very good question.
The only JK mistakes I remember were in games we went on to win.
Some game under Strachan?
Yous are right he gave away a needless penalty for a handball in that defeat at Easter Road.

We lost 2-1, Kevin Thomson winner was a cracker if I remember right.

Can't really remember a clamour like this in the press for the Celtic manager to be poached since MON in his prime.

Enjoy the hurt ya hun monkeys. There's plenty more where that came from.
It's an absolute embarrassment

They were talking in august about rodgers and Joey Fenian bringing more interest to the game here

8 months later, he's so dominant they want rid of asap

I'd love him to sign a 5 year contract tomorrow just to sicken the effers even more

BR: I’m absolutely delighted for the players and everyone connected with the club.

BR: I’m delighted with the professionalism, integrity, pride and style with which the team have played all season.

BR: I’m happy for the Board, they put their trust in me to come here with a one club, one vision mentality.

BR: They put their trust in me to lead for which I’m very grateful for.

BR: I’m over the moon for the supporters, I’m very lucky because I’m one of them but I’m on this side.

BR: They’ve given me nothing but support since I came here.

BR: For me, I’m just happy I could win it in the style that I wanted to. When I arrived the club was on a winning cycle.

BR: I wanted to continue that but I wanted to do it in the best way we could, I think we’ve done that.

BR: We still have work to do until the end of the season but today we’ll celebrate our great success in winning the league.

BR: This is the beginning of the cycle, it’s exciting to see the growth and development of the players.

BR: However, the beauty of this group of players is that they’re only going to get better.

BR: I'm very happy here, there’s not a place I could be right now that would make me happier in my personal life or professional life.

BR: I couldn’t think of a better place to be at this stage in my life than Glasgow Celtic.

BRENDAN RODGERS dropped the greatest hint yet that he will stay at Celtic for the long-term in the wake of leading the club to a historic sixth Scottish title in a row.

The Northern Irishman claimed there was “no better place” for him at this stage in his career than the Glasgow club, he presently has a rolling one-year contract, as he spoke of this season being only a beginning and his determination to build a legacy at Parkhead.

Celtic’s 5-0 win over Hearts means they have still to lose domestically after 37 games, they sit 25 points above second-place Aberdeen in the Ladbrokes Premiership and, much to the supporters’ joy, 35 ahead of Rangers in third.

The runaway champions have eight league matches and potentially two in the Scottish Cup, they face Rangers later this month in the semi-final, before a treble and possible undefeated campaign is achieved.

Rodgers is loved by the clubs followers but as many of Celtic's best players have moved to England in recent years there has been speculation that the manager, who came within one game of winning the title at Liverpool, would not stay out of the Premier League for too long.

However, within half an hour of Rodgers and his players celebrating with their supporters at Tynecastle, the 44-year-old stressed he was in no hurry to seek a new challenge.

Rodgers said: “I am very content. I’ve only started in management, really. I’ve had five jobs, so I’m thinking at some point I need to just stay calm. I’ve already worked in the [English] Premier League and I cannot think of a better place for me to be at this stage of my life than Glasgow Celtic.

“I’m very comfortable here and sometimes, with that ambition, you have to be careful. You have to really appreciate what you have and I am a bit older and more mature. In the management game, I feel very, very happy here.

“There is not a place I could be in this world right now where I’d be happier in my football life and personal life. So it’s only the start for us and I have a responsibility for the supporters. Being one of them, I know what they think and what they want, and I want to try and bring them as far to that as I possibly can.

“When my time is up, hopefully, I will have left a legacy here that they can smile about and have enjoyed, and then it’ll be over to the next one. Until that moment comes, which hopefully won’t be for a while, I’m very content.”

Rodgers is already planning for next season. The aim is continued domestic success and successive qualification for the Champions League group stages.

He has money to spend this summer, Celtic are in a better financial position than perhaps any time in their history, and the trick for him to now is to repeat the success of last summer’s transfer window when he got just about all his signings right.

Rodgers said: “Is this a starting point for the team? Yeah, that's what I see it as - the beginning of the cycle. It is exciting to see the growth and the development.

“'The beauty of this group of players is that they are only going to get better. Kieran Tierney will get better, Stuart Armstrong will get better. All these guys are working in a way where they are comfortable in what I am asking them to do.

"We will add the squad but, not very many. But all I want to do is add quality to help them and if I can do that then the cycle will continue.

“You have to spend but the club have been great for me. We could have signed a player I wanted to get in the last window for quite a large sum of money. But for me it has to be the right player.

“There is a ceiling on what you can bring into here and sometimes it’s also a player’s perspective. But the beauty and excitement of it is seeing the development in players that were already here.

“The progress you can see clearly from the first game here to this one in their level in the game. It’s all about availability and affordability. We can’t just sign anyone. That’s not realistic. It doesn’t work like that.

“But if the right player becomes available and the affordability is there, then the club will back me as they have done since the first day I walked into Celtic Park."

Rodgers was calmness personified not long after watching his team win the first league title of his managerial career, happy to focus on what was to come rather than what had only just happened.

He said: “It's nice for the supporters, I'm sure they will be in the bars enjoying it. I have to be thinking of tomorrow, of my preparation for Wednesday's game and the semi-final of the cup.

“We have three league games before that. We have ticked off another target, so that's two. We hopefully have two more games in the Scottish Cup, but there is a lot of work to do before that.”

He said will go down as second to Stein, not is second to Stein. Who are the three managers better than him in your lifetime? I'm 30 and he's the best Celtic manager in my lifetime so wondering who I've missed off of my list  And yes, he is a better manager than MON. He may not have achieved the same as MON did in his time but he has done something quite incredible with what we all thought was a mediocre squad of players.

I doubt many fans would trade Brendan for MON if they were given the option.
