He's been phenomenal since he took over, but made an arse of it yesterday.

I think BR will have learnt plenty from yesterday. He has for the first time came up against a kicking Hun team blatantly aided by the ref, he will not be caught like that again.

Didn't send them out right from the start yesterday. Disappointing but it won't happen too often.

If that was the worry we should have had a midfielder other than our newest recruit available to play a part yesterday. Otherwise I agree that it's harsh. Lessons learned but nothing major lost, let's use this frustration to finish the season well.
More concerning is we have bought a player who can't be trusted to play 10 mins before getting sent off, what was the point in buying him?
I don't think he thinks that, he probably saw the way the game was going yesterday, Madden at his cheating hun best and didn't want to take the chance of him giving him a red and leave us a man down the rest of that game and with Eboue suspended for the next game(s). Going on Madden's excuses for the decisions he got wrong yesterday, it wouldn't be that outlandish to think he'd have one at the ready for any of our players.

Also, to be fair to Posted Image, he had a shot cleared off the line and won us what anywhere else in the world would be a stonewall penalty.

my main memory of his liverpool side in bigger games was they came flying out the traps and often had it won in 20 minutes. surprised we havent seen more of that this season especially against the huns.

man city at home was the only game i can think of we done it

You don't seriously believe Kouassi didn't come on because of concerns he would be sent off?

Not much said about the metal strain, some jelly legs out there early on and Brendan looked less cool after the game. Some of these lads have never even been close to a treble, its all boiling down to a few games. We have seen similar before at the club so im hoping it will be a chance to regroup, freshen the starting eleven and be ready, that semi is massive now for a very young squad. It must be hard keeping their feet on the ground, it showed but hopefully the daft celebration of a point by them will help strengthen resolve. lI trust Brendan. Hopefully some old heads will help . A BIG few weeks ahead.

Getting on a bit

Let's not get our knickers in a twist over this. Brendan has been very good so far but he is only human and will make mistakes.
If you look at the four games against the zombies, then we have started slowly in all of them. What was different about yesterday, was that we didn't get better as the game wore on. We had a decent spell just after half time and if we had scored then we would have won fairly easily, but we didn't and then fell out of things when Armstrong went off.
Brendan stayed true to form and made attacking substitutions but we never were able to get good possession when it really mattered.
What we need to see is if he has learned the lessons of games like BMG at home where we were basically out muscled by a well drilled team.
We need to see if Kouassi toughens and quickens us up in midfield.
Personally I would freshen the team up as only Brown, Gordon and Armstrong really played yesterday, so plenty of scope for change.
The league is won so the cup is the game where we will be up against it.
Fair play to Murtry as he went with what he knows. He set them up like an English Championship team, 2 banks of four and the front two pressing. Madden did the rest by allowing them to assault our players, both should have been off in the first half.
It's not Brendan's style but I would prefer a couple of guys who can give it back in situations like yesterday.

Brendan Rodgers revealed last night that Gers defender Clint Hill personally voiced his relief that he had gotten away with his late foul on Leigh Griffiths.

Celtic were irked at not getting the chance to take all three points with a last-gasp spot-kick, and Rodgers believes that Hill was in agreement that his challenge on the Celtic forward merited a penalty.

“It’s always disappointing when you lose a goal late on like that, especially in the manner we did," said the Celtic manager.

"We should have had a penalty right at the death. It was a clear cut penalty.

“It’s very frustrating - even more so when Clint Hill tells me he got away with it. Clint’s a good guy, a real honest fella, and he knows he got away with one.

“I think everyone saw it apart from the referee."

There has been few afternoons of frustration this season for a Celtic side who are easing their way to a sixth successive title and Rodgers was quick to defend his players in the aftermath of a game where his side never exacted the hold that they are capable of.

“I’m proud of the team today," said Rodgers. "It was a tough game. I didn’t think we were so good in the first half. There was lots of effort and commitment but we lacked position in our possession.

“We made a change at half-time to give us a bit of superiority in the central area and we took control of the game.

“I felt it was only a matter of time before we got the second goal.

“But, of course, when it’s at 1-0 there’s always a chance a moment can happen."

Rangers will be expected to draw positives from the result and the manner of eeking out a draw after coming from behind, but Rodgers hopes that it will also have a positive impact on his own side ahead of next month's Scottish Cup semi-final at Hampden.

“I think that, okay, if we win the game today it is four games and another victory against Rangers," he said. "I didn’t think it would, but maybe getting the result can help us. Okay, we want to win, you’re disappointed when you don’t. But it just makes sure that we’re ready for that game. We know that sometimes that can happen at the end of the game. You have just got to take it and move on. When we play them again in the semi-final it will be another tight game, a close game, but hopefully we will get to the final.”

He made an error in judgement but, to be fair, the team did themselves no favours. I think, to an extent, BR can only take some of the blame for that as Brown and McGregor were giving way too much away. In saying that though, he should have brought Eboue on to close the game down and see it out.

No way should we be shutting up shop and playing for a 1-0 at home against Sevco or any other SPFL side.

Rodgers' attacking substitutions have paid dividends more often than not this season and I fully expect he'll continue to make bold changes.

As for Eboue, he's nowhere near experienced enough to help close a game like that out.

Rodgers made the right decision to put Griffiths on given his experience.

Like a lot of situations in life where we learn from our mistakes, Brendan will learn more from that one draw than he will have over the past 20+ league games.

Given how the game ended, I've no idea how you can say he made the correct decision. Going like for like with 15 minutes to go is hardly shutting up shop.

The problem isn't putting Griffiths onto the pitch. The problem is putting Griffiths onto the pitch at the expense of a midfielder.

Eboue doesn't need to have the experience of a 38 year old midfield legend. He just needs to come on and give the midfield an extra body for the last 20 minutes. It's the huns we were playing. A team 30 odd points behind us. Not Bayern Munich. If Eboue couldn't have been trusted to come on and shore things up he shouldn't have been on the bench.

Rodgers got it wrong.

There was the option to bring on Simunovic too. BR brought on Sviatchenko against Ber Sheeva and it helped us see out the game. It would have made more sense to do that than bring on Griffiths, although I think Eboue would have been the best option.

He brought on Griff against St Mirren and it worked a treat - difference here was Saints were trying to play football not hack us off the park, that was the mistake.

The big difference is that we were a goal down and desperate for an equalizer when he came on against St Mirren.

Don't agree with the view that putting on Griffiths was a major error, if the ref had done his job fairly, a penalty is given, or Griffiths scores, goal / penalty conversion means we would be celebrating another win.

The tactics would have worked perfectly if others did the professional job they were paid to do.
