“St Mirren are the best team we’ve played domestically this season.”
He isn't far wrong btw. What struck me was if St Mirren are as good as they were first half today, then why are they bottom of the second tier?

They've gotta be better than where they are. No way are they deserving of the amateur leagues below them.
Tbf they have had a bit of renaissance recently winning 4 wins on the spin as Jack Ross gets them going, my Hibs supporting m8 said they absolutely pumped them all over the park the other night. i reckon they will make a run into midtable safety

Made the right changes in attack but...

...we're still susceptible to crosses into the box IMO
We certainly are when GMS allows his man to saunter 40 yards up the park, unmarked, and then allows him a free cross.
It was Lustigs man. GMS man was the free kick taker. I thought the same at first but looking at it again there were 3 Celtic players marking no one. But hey it's fashionable to blame GMS.

For about an hour, this is the only domestic game we've played where we actually looked as if we just couldn't respond.

Fair play to St Mirren for thst.

Was following the game on here as usual (sadly, can only make it a couple of times a season).

When Griffiths came on today, did he play as a no.10 in a 4-5-1, or did BR change the shape to 3-5-2?
Played 4-4-2 and Dembele dropped deeper to link up. Griff done well, dragging them around the place and stretching them.

Lustig had picked up a man and was marking him on the 18 yard line. GMS was effing sleeping from the moment they got the free kick and was marking no carrot. Couldn't really care what it fashionable. He was utter pish today besides the free kick and our manager clearly thought so too.

The resolve and, dare I say, "great character" Brendan has instilled in this team is incredible.

Current record: P46 W36 (78.3%) D5 (10.85%) L5 (10.85%) F113 A40 +73

Exactly. And it's nice from Brendan to give St-Mirren manager the credit he deserves, instead of moaning at the ref and a poor display.

Yeah i'd second that. Looked to me like they were taking turns at dropping deep but Griff definitely seemed to be moving around more whereas Dembele seemed to be the focal point more often. It worked well yesterday but it hasn't in the past so much. I wonder if that was to do with the opposition or our team being more fluid and confident playing together now? Maybe it was something they worked on during the break as an alternative to open up well organised teams? :ponder: Either way BR played a blinder once again.

What a headline :brickwall:
Read the article and the 15mil amounts to allsorts of people being shifted on as usual when a manager goes.

Celtic to learn if Lee Congerton will be the club's new head of recruitment

Lee Congerton is a former sporting director at Hamburg and Sunderland
He was also chief scout at Chelsea and knows Brendan Rodgers very well
Celtic will learn whether they have got their man next week

By Stephen Mcgowan For The Scottish Daily Mail

Celtic expect to learn next week if Lee Congerton will become the club's new head of player recruitment.

A former Sporting Director at Hamburg and Sunderland, Congerton has also received a lucrative offer from China.

Known to Brendan Rodgers from his time as Chief Scout at Chelsea, however, the Welshman has been identified as the best man to replace John Park after his 10-year stint as Football Development Manager ended in October.

Sportsmail understands Paul Mitchell, interviewed for the job of Director of Football at Rangers, was amongst the candidates placed under consideration by Celtic chiefs with Huddersfield's Stuart Webber.

Head of scouting when Brendan Rodgers was Stamford Bridge reserve team manager, however, Congerton emerged as the strongest candidate.

The 42-year-old followed Frank Arsesen from Chelsea to Hamburg in 2011, accepting an offer to become technical director.

Returning to England to take up a post as director of football at Sunderland, Congeron kept in touch with Rodgers.

Known to the Celtic hierachy after negotiating the transfer of Adam Matthews to Sunderland, Celtic are cautiously hopeful of warding off the interest from China to receive a positive response from their top target.

Going after staff that he knows shows (IMO) that Brendan wants this job for the long run, "rebuilding" the club the way that he wants it, he (IMO) is not going to leave at the first job opening in England, even if it is Arsenal calling after they "sack" Wenger

Arsenal won't go for Brendan. The fans, going by their fan channel, are effing outraged at Wenger and the continual lack of ambition at the club.

It'd be very hard to try and sell them on Brendan as most EPL fans still see him as a Ricky Gervais one season wonder type of character.

Which is great for us :)
