I guess if Brendan wants a new surface, then that's what he will get. If it allows us to play even better, then it's a " no brainier" . Get the cheque book out Pedro.

Think we got a new pitch in 2014 after the games which didn't take and was replaced in summer 2015. It's deteriorating badly though. It's been a relatively dry winter but you wouldn't know it. Wonder if it's more a drainage issue- pre 2014 the pitch was generally good
That fecked the pitch we had - John Hayes used to win awards for the Parkhead pitch prior to the new one going down.

Looks like this was the company that installed it, a hybrid pitch too.

In the entire history of Scottish Football (or even British football) has any club ever been 27 points clear at the top before now?
We won the 2013/14 title by 29 points.
:lol:

Ah well. That answers that then

I love Brendan but I really couldn't disagree more with his assessment of the KT tackle.

He also seems really annoyed about the pitch. Seems like a straightforward answer, pitch is shampoo, sorted at the end of the season, yet he really focuses on it and seems pissed off about something.
The end of that is class :thumbsup:

I was just about to post that :lol;

I think in that video the bloke mentions they do regular pitches too, I don't think we have a hybrid at the moment

Must admit I also thought his level of irk at the pitch seemed out of sorts. Possibly a few things happening in the background that he wants done and maybe aren't being progressed as fast as he'd like.

How cute is he, though?

One of our best young players (and in the CEO's eyes, one of our most valuable assets) takes a horrendous tackle which could, feasibly, have been career threatening.

What does BR do?
He blames the pitch.
In other-words;
'You know all that chat we've been going through, Splob, with you humming and hawing about the cost, well today could've seen one of our best players crippled, and it's all because you don't want to spend extra money on the pitch'

That was my interpretation too actually. Given the cost of it, it would be entirely believable that PL is stalling on this - i just hope he is not stalling on too many things to make the job become tiresome for Brendan. :ph43r:

They aren't doing the pitch until the summer

Did Brendan want the pitch sooner? I see from a video on Wembley they can do it in 10/11 days, though perhaps we need it to be returfed as well, or this stuff put down and it to be seeded? On any view of it, it can only help us given the style of football we play.

think the pitch will be done as soon as the season is done. No point trying to rush these things, you see the feck up they make of Hampden every time then rush a game on to it.

That's very true; when you break it down to cold hard cash the alleged £2m on a new fancy pitch is a fraction of the potential transfer fee for a fit and in form KT from down south. That black and white obviousness will be right up Pedro's street you'd imagine. :ponder:

You'd like to think so, but then again, the CEO is all about the bottom line.

He was brought on board, back in the day, with a remit to slash costs, and did so to great effect, whilst simultaneously slashing the quality we were paying to support.

He's currently undergoing a bit of a culture shock, one would imagine, having gone from a pair of pet poodles in Lenny and Ronnie, to having a proper manager who wants to call the shots :)
Furthermore, BR would appear to have the backing of our Bajan bathing billionaire, and seems to be playing a pretty good deck, in dealing with the power-struggle which will. to greater or lesser a degree, be going on behind the scenes, due to all of the above.

As Connolly's Rhebels suggests, we can only hope that Splob's personal bottom line is not interfering too much in his judgement/action.
The last transfer window was undoubtedly limp and the upcoming activity before the next CL campaign should define more clearly where the power truly lies.

Is there any chance we're being so public about this to put pressure on those who laid the current pitch to claw back some dough?

The relaying of the pitch after the Commonwealth Games was a rush job as the season had already started. It was never gonna last as long as if it had been done straight after the season finished and it was given the proper time needed to settle.

What is the proper time needed for a pitch to settle?
How much time do we have between our last game at Celtic park this season and next?
As we will have won the title by the time of the split could we ask for our 2 or 3 home games to be at the start of the 5 and so get another couple of weeks or will the SPFL likely want our last home game to be the last one for the title presentation?

Well for laying a lawn at home you shouldn't stand on it for at least 3 weeks
