John Hughes a possible assistant
I hope we appoint a pragmatic assistant to assist Rodgers, and sadly Yogi as about as pragmatic as John Collins.

Also Rodgers should decide his backroom staff, not Lawwell.
What if lawwell chose Rodgers...?

I know I'm probably in the minority but I always wanted Rodgers before Moyes. I just think he is a much better fit for us right now. The job he did at Swansea is far more in line with what he'll be tasked here - firstly build a winning team, playing great football, and bring through young players when possible. Moyes' direct tactics at Man Utd always made me a little uneasy, he probably would have been successful here but lets be honest we're greedy and we want to see great football at Celtic Park and I just think Rodgers will bring more of that. I also think Rodgers is more suited to us in Europe - he's incredibly flexible tactically and has a great knowledge and understanding of the modern game and applies in his methods. I feel he'll have us better prepared than anyone to navigate the CL qualifiers and bring back some great CL nights to Celtic Park.

That quote from Luis Suarez is absolutely incredible and if anyone was in any doubt just read that. No cliched nonsense, it's in depth with substance detailing exactly how Rodgers improved his game. The fact that the best centre forward on the planet attributes his current success at Barca to Rodgers is the biggest testimonial you could give.

Can't describe how effing delighted I am right now.

"At the end of the storm, is a golden sky..."

Just when I thought I was out, you reel us back in.

Celtic

I'd have no problem with John Hughes as long as BR chooses him and it not a cheap alternative to his normal back room team, if he indeed has such a thing.

Watching an animated backroom staff on the touchline will be an improvement
I'm hoping to be watching the pitch, to be honest.

No. Lawwell is evil. That is the only reason this could happen.

Unless it works out well. Then there will be another reason

He was signed by Fulham on 31 January 2004, cited by manager Chris Coleman as a way to expand attacking options in the future.[1] He signed for a fee thought to be in the region of £600,000 where he was introduced at Craven Cottage by John Collins, his reverse namesake

A superb appointment. The much maligned DD has sure put his cards on the table today :worthy:

No doubt whatsoever Brendan will name his own backroom team and won't have anybody, staff or player forced on him.

Pity the new season is a way off but still, he needs time to sort out our unbalanced squad, move on those he doesn't want and hopefully bring in some players who will take us the next step up the feelgood ladder

Just out of curiosity.. Was any of the people 'in the know' on the now closed "new manager" thread relatively right / close with the predictions afforded to us?

It's changed at each club, mate. Well he was with Colin Pascoe twice but not sure if they still talk after the Liverpool fiasco.

Will be really interesting to see who he brings in!

A few hours and a few beers later and this still hadn't sunk in. This isn't the Celtic I've come to know...basically since MON left, but certainly since Strachan was replaced with Mowbray. This is genuinely exciting.
