I'm pretty sure he had a target of qualifying from a Champion's League Group and I wouldn't be surprised if this hasn't been made clear to every player at the club.

He regularly talks of the next 4 or 5 years.
I genuinely believe that he'll do a Larsson & cement himself as a true Celtic great.
He wins a treble this year  and even if they don't I guess he wants to see what he can do in Europe as much as anything. With 6iar on the horizon I can't see him leaving before 10 especially if he's progressing in Europe.

There's a stamp to be put into the history books and Brendan wants to make it a big one. :rocker:
God I hope so.

And I feel a sense of ownership about this team that I helped create.
I created things at Celtic and they are now reaping the rewards of it.
One of the reasons I got the job was that Celtic realised they had to think differently.
I certainly was involved in transferring my knowledge to the team and they have reaped the fruits of my labour.

Don't know if this has been posted but it's a nice piece.

Brendan Rodgers pays moving tribute to Celtic icon Tommy Burns: He was sent from Heaven as a saint to be a Celt
Rodgers revealed his admiration for the late, great Celtic icon after attending this year's Tommy Burns Supper at Celtic Park.

Was on the tannadice pitch that night as the team lifted the trophy, was setting up the Clydesdale bank stage and holding the one of the flags as the team walked up to it, still remember strachan trying to get the fans to stop singing to listen to TB's favourite song playing over the tannoy.

Proudest night of my life

By the standard of the Scottish game, Kieran Tierney and Moussa Dembele represent the equivalent of untold wealth – potentially £65 million - according to some estimates of their potential worth. That figure is fantastic – in the original conjuring sense of the word – yet within the bounds of possibility if Celtic's young duo fulfil their ambitions and those of their coaches.

Of Tierney, Celtic’s 19-year-old left-back, who has reclaimed his place in the side after a three-month layoff because of injury, the Hoops assistant manager, Chris Davies, said: “He’s got this great synergy of old and new school and that’s what makes him stand out. In the next few years he can develop and the manager’s plan is for him to stay and develop into a world class talent.” :rocker:

Tierney came to the attention of a greater audience because of his compelling duel with Raheem Sterling when Manchester City came behind three times to draw 3-3 with Celtic in a Champions League group stage fixture at Parkhead and it was in that game that Dembele also paraded his credentials by scoring a double.

The 20-year-old French striker, who reportedly had a £40 million price tag placed upon him by Celtic in the recent transfer window, has enthused Davies because of his similarly practical approach to his career.

“Moussa's an intelligent boy. He knows this is the best place for him,” Davies said. “He loves it here, he's had a great time and he's got a real inner belief that he's a top player and that if he wants that move it will come at the right time for him.

“He doesn't have to go chasing it, thinking that it might not come again. That's a sign of the self-confidence he has. Like Tierney, he's still got development to come.

“Moussa started at PSG, went to Fulham, comes to Celtic and thinks that's the right place for him to develop. He's made some good decisions, all with this belief that he's going to be a top player, but he works hard. It's one thing believing or saying that but you have to actually deliver.

“You've got to be professional, the way he lives his life. He's a player that loves football, watches a lot of games and has a real interest and passion for the game. He enjoys studying the game and he's got all the potential to progress but there's a humility there, so that he knows he has to keep working hard.”

For less well-provided opponents, the most dispiriting feature of Celtic’s current form - which has seen them set a new club record of 28 successive domestic games unbeaten is that Brendan Rodgers’ squad achieved their aim while short of Tierney between October and January and, more recently, minus Dembele and other significant contributors such as Dembele, Leigh Griffiths, Tom Rogic and Stuart Armstrong.

“We have had to find solutions,” said Davies. “With Griffiths, Dembele, Armstrong and Rogic out (against Aberdeen) I think it was 31 goals they had scored amongst them. We had scored 59 going into the game, so that was over half the goals taken out of the team, let alone assists.

“You want your goal scorers and assist-makers and your creative players there because you have 60-70 per cent of the ball and you're looking to create and score goals. Luckily, we have found solutions with little tactical changes and also players coming into different positions.”

Even at the heart of defence, where Erik Sviatchenko has been added to the roster of patients in the treatment room, a smooth transition has seen Dedryck Boyata – a fringe figure who made a single appearance during the first half of the season – step in with two goals in three outings in the space of a week, his latest being the winner against Aberdeen on Wednesday as Celtic posted their 18th straight league victory.

Now it is Sviatchenko who finds himself having to make a case for resumption of duty. “He’s training well. He had a slight injury issue which put him out initially, but he’s working hard to make sure he’s ready when his chance comes around again,” said Davies.

“That’s what you’ve got to do. It’s a long season playing 60-odd games. There are going to be periods when you’re out of the team and you’ve just got to stay strong mentally, keeping a belief in yourself as a player. Then when your chance comes you take it. Erik’s calm about it.”

To be fair he's just talking up his CV. He knows he'll never get a job as big as that again. Now that he's not our manager I feel sorry for him. Good luck to the guy

And Tierney assisted Dembele's 2nd goal.

Interesting to read from Davies that Eric wasn't dropped, he was injured and that gave Boyata his chance.
