Is it a bit strange that the gaffer (who I think is wonderful BTW) made noises about working with bloated squad's when he started and he prefers to work with a smaller/leaner squad yet we have not yet moved players out as expected he/the club would? I appreciate some of the constraints in doing this and it is ultimately up to the player if they wish to move but his comments last few days about players we maybe expect to leave ..GMS, Bitton kind of say to me he wants to keep some players maybe should be moved on & slight contradiction of his comments 3/4 months ago??

Or, the club have not been able to get the players in that he wanted, which means he has to stick with some players in the meantime.

I know there is still time afore the windae slams shut but;
I have to say that, after the proactive comments from the manager prior to the window opening, that if the sum total of our recruitment is one (as yet) untested player, then i'll be pretty underwhelmed.

I think we will probably be trying to sell a few but the trouble is finding a buyer.

If we can't move any on then expect a raft of players going on loan come the end of the window.

He also spoke of telling certain players to move on but if they insist in staying they wont be working with the main group.

I’ve been thinking about these players and there is 6/7 of them sitting after being told by him you will play little football this season that they just seem content to do that…sit. It is there right & I am well versed that we can only do so much but surely, Fasan,Bailly, Boyata, Eefe, Allen, Commons, Ciftci, Bitton, Henderson…these guys must realise game time is not going to be much for them & from what I know most of them have been told that.

Just think that BR ‘s comments about bloated squad etc has not translated into a trimmed squad. Small thing maybe but important nonetheless.

These guys are taking serious money from us combined in wages and potential transfer fees for some of them. Just wonder if he or the club could do more or say more to them to get them out and in line with BR’s comments in August for a preferred trimmed squad.

Genuine question has that happened to anyone?? :ponder:

Training alone or with Dev. squad? I cannot recollect anyone out with people coming back from injury which is the norm

eff knows mate, I just remember reading it recently, but for the life of me I can't find the quote.

I don't think it means shutting players out or making them train on their own. Just that he has told certain players they have no future here and so they wont be in and around the main squad should they not move on.

The window has another 11 days to go, plenty of opportunity for players to come in or leave.

Most agents will be telling their players to hold off till late in the window to assess all offers.

Not only that, we'll not want to loan them when the clubs can only pay a fraction of their wages. We'd probably punt these guys for nominal fees to get them off the wage budget but it seems the only people that want the players have no chance of affording their wages.

"Rodgers’ Celtic side are within two games of levelling the record set by the Lions of 26-games unbeaten at the start of a season. "

I take it that includes cup games because the 2003/2004 team didn't lose until game 32 of the league.
