Haven't seen it mentioned before but noticed that our players never seem to overly complain when a decision goes against them - we just get on with it.

A few decisions went against us on Sat and we just carried on and concentrated on the things we could change.

Great to see tbh.
Izzy did have a pop at the linesman over that throw in. They should be challenged when it's that blatant imo

I'd like to think that behind the scenes Brendan has instilled that into the players - no matter the decision just focus and get on with your job.

These players are idolised by kids everywhere and it'd be great to think that BR has asked our players to respect the refs and their decisions. I hate seeing players surround refs screaming and bawling a la Man U/Chelsea of a few years back.

I'm sure he has gone through all of these fine details with the players with regards the club, its history and philosophy. He's making us great not just on the field but off it too.

He had the grace and decency to approach The Rangers' Mackay to congratulate him on his performance and for him to 'keep his head up' despite the defeat.

He's got real class.

BRENDAN Rodgers has hailed the Celtic support for their brilliant backing of the team in last weekend's Glasgow derby success at Ibrox.

Even when the champions were losing early in the match, the Hoops faithful roared on the players and they were able to celebrate a thoroughly-deserved victory together once the final whistle sounded thanks to goals from Moussa Dembele and Scott Sinclair.

When asked about the fans' contribution in this week's Celtic View, the manager said: “It was brilliant. They didn’t panic either. When we went 1-0 down they stayed with the team which is very important and hopefully they are seeing there is a real trust building between the supporters and the players.

“Sometimes you will have adverse times in games but if you have the spirit, the fight and the will, along with the quality, then you come through it, and the supporters are identifying that with this Celtic team. Like Celtic teams of the past, you find a way, and it was important for them to celebrate together afterwards."

And the manager would have walked over to salute the fans as well at full time had he not suffered an untimely injury when celebrating Sinclair’s winning strike.

“That was my only disappointment of the day as I was unable to go over there and be with them as I stupidly pulled my calf," he added.

I liked Warburton at first, however, he's basically just Deila. Once you've heard one interview you've heard them all - he never strays from his "We'll learn and improve" mantra.

Rodgers is the best manager we could have possibly have hoped for and every second he is with us should be cherished. Lawwell takes a lot of slack but this has been the best decision made by a Celtic board since Stein possibly. I don't want to denounce O'Neill, but Rodgers is a level above anything I've experienced in my lifetime. Meticulous, intelligent and has a deep understanding of the club.
Different eras but every Celtic manager who followed MON has benefited from his time here. MON is Celtic's most important manager in 40 years because he took on a monster and turned it into a quivering wreck.

The Huns (mark I) sped down the road to bankruptcy through illegality trying to overcome O'Neill as symbolised by their signing of Flo within weeks of their 6-2 trouncing. It all eventually caught up with them and we enjoy a financial superiority (based on our own merits, now somehow 'bad for the game') the likes of which we've never had.

All that said, Brendan Rodgers is the best appointment Celtic have made in a long long time and we are in for some special times. There is no better man to be leading our club and the board should understand that this is the time to back him and give him the players he thinks will genuinely make the route to the CL less fraught and then make an impact if and when we get there.

Fix the roof when the sun is shining, as some bastard once said. Over the years Celtic have been guilty of not doing this largely through complacency. Make the right decisions now and great times lie ahead with a young manager ready to stamp his name in Celtic history as one of our best.

:theclap:

Rodgers is the successor to MON's groundwork which isn't meant to belittle the managers in the interim (some of whom gave great service and great nights to the club) but we're definitely now back on the road that MON had us on.

Great to see tbh.
Part of BR's preparation for each match is indeed an analysis of the way the officials are likely to handle the game and the players are instructed about the kinds of things the ref is likely to penalise or let go. As a result, they're not encouraged to give him grief if the analysis suggests that it would be counterproductive. It's a sensible and thorough approach which further emphasises his professionalism and attention to detail.

CHRIS Davies says Celtic’s mid-season training camp in Dubai will allow the champions to build on their superb start to the season.

The Hoops ended 2016 with a deserved 2-1 derby victory over Rangers at Ibrox which meant they had gone through the first half of the domestic campaign without defeat.

Having won their 15th consecutive league match away with the win over their city rivals, Brendan Rodgers’ side also hold a commanding 19-point lead at the top of the table.

The Bhoys also lifted the first silverware of the season in November when they beat Aberdeen 3-0 in the League Cup final, while progression to the group stages of the UEFA Champions League was also achieved for the first time in three years.

Given this incredible consistency and success, the squad were given a few days to rest and recuperate following the turn of the year as the Scottish Premiership started its winter shutdown.

But once they arrive in Dubai, Celtic’s assistant manager revealed that the players will resume work in earnest, looking to enhance their fitness and tactical acumen in the warm sunshine.

Speaking to the media before the champions jetted off to Dubai, Davies said: “We are hoping to improve our base of fitness. We have had a very good first six months at Celtic and we are really happy with how that’s gone and the winter break has come at a very good time for us really.

“We played 44 games in a really intense period of time and we got through that and obviously finished it on Hogmanay with a fantastic performance and result.

“The players had a week’s rest to recover physically and mentally as they have done really well and now we are looking to go away and it’s twofold – first we want to top up that base of fitness but, secondly, it’s a good opportunity for us to work on the coaching time elements we don’t always get a chance to do when there are so many games.

“Coaching time can be a little limited so this will be a very good environment to work in and we will have lots of sessions out there.

“The manager has tactical ideas of how we want to keep developing and improving and it’s gone really well to start with, but it’s so important that we never stand still and we are always looking to drive and improve, so that’s what we will be looking to do when we go away.”

Davies also confirmed that Kieran Tierney would be part of the travelling party to Dubai as he continues his recovery from an ankle injury, which has sidelined him for just over two months.

“Efe Ambrose isn’t going as there is an immigration issue there but injury-wise, Kieran Tierney is coming out and we will be progressing his rehab and slowly integrating him back into the training group which is really good,” he said. “Hopefully he will be building towards full training in the next few weeks.

“He has done great and it’s a credit to all the science and medical support staff because with 44 games, nine games in a month, there is a lot going on and the intensity was really high, so they have done excellently to get a near enough fully-fit squad for this break to prepare for next phase.”

:rocker:

They have worked wonders with 'limited coaching' so it will be good to see further improvement with the extra coaching time over the next few months.

Brendan and Chris just inspire confidence when they speak of their plan for the future of the club.

Absolutely loving him as our manager so far. Completely proved me wrong, I admit I was hesitant about him coming and wanted Moyes at the time.

Love the fact he has improved some of the players that were here before he came- Brown, Armstrong, Forrest and his signings have been really solid so far, the only iffy one being the goal keeper which even then gave Gordon a kick up the arse.

There hasn't been too many awful games barring the 7-0 Barcelona one and the football on the whole has been good/great to watch.

BRENDAN RODGERS reckons Celtic’s decision not to play any games when they are in Dubai this week could actually make the club more money in the long term.

In previous years, the Hoops have subsidised their winter warm-weather training camps by taking on matches against other touring sides.

The games offer locals in places such as Gran Canaria, Antalya and Puerto Banus the chance to see big European clubs they might otherwise only see on TV, and can attract reasonable crowds.

As the Hoops manager explained, though, he believes they can work against the agenda of the coaching staffs.

“We’re not playing any games because we don’t need any,” said Rodgers.

“There can be a commercial element to these trips sometimes, but this isn’t one of those cases.

“What we are getting is more training time, time that will allow us to reinforce our principles and work on different aspects of the game.

“The club have given me the freedom to look at the fixture list, and see how it would pan out.

“If we were to be successful as we wanted to be, then we identified this period as one for recovery with a warm-weather training camp.

“I said Dubai because you’re pretty sure it’s going to be warm. The club have helped with everything I’ve ever wanted. So it’s all gone to plan.”

Under Rodgers’ charge the Hoops made it to the group stages of the Champions League and remain undefeated in domestic competition.

The League Cup is already secured, the Premiership title is all but guaranteed and they are very much on course for the Treble.

The schedule has, though, taken a toll.

“The players have had a lot thrown at them, physically and mentally, in the seven months that we’ve been here,” said Rodgers.

“There has been a huge volume of games to deal with.

“So what we will do in Dubai is have a wee refresher before pressing the reset button and getting ready to go again.

“The beauty of it is we’ll be fresh on our return, and maybe have a couple of players integrated to the squad.

“And we will certainly have a few back, like Kieran Tierney and Tom Rogic, so it can only benefit us.”

The Celtic manager is determined there should be no slacking.

“You can never afford to have a lazy day. The players here will tell you that,” he said.

“Whenever they think they can maybe come off it a bit, you push them again.

“You have to keep going, fighting and improving. Every day is a chance to improve.

“If you don’t, you’ve wasted it because once today is gone, that’s it.”
