If any young player of ours is not listening to the manager right now then they are a fool.

Or Senior players for that matter - As Pepe Reina would testify.

Brendan is an inspirational leader, when he speaks you don't just listen to him - you want to hear him, take everything on board, do further reading & take his advice seriously.
It honestly comes across that he is personally invested in the development & well being of the players, they must really want to play for him & please him.
I got the sense of really wanting to improve all aspects of the players from Ronny too, but Brendan seems to have the charisma & force of personality to deliver the message.

I hope that the fat 16 year old takes the hint.

Was reading an interesting piece this morning on Liverpool's Nutrition Coach who they brought in from Bayern, she's only early 30s, says players have really taken to the methods and they've had a kitchen installed in the first team dressing room, interesting approach and shows you how the game is changing to try to make the players elite athletes, we need to ensure all of our players are on board.

Brendan doesn't say things for the sake of it. I acknowledge that he praised Chris McCart's running of the academy amidst all those quotes about the laziness, poor diet, blame / excuses culture he's witnessed from young players in Scotland so far. But I think it's clear he's not too impressed with what he's seen of our development squad and I wouldn't be surprised if he overhauled the development set up during the summer.

The Lions were by far the fittest team of their era
Look back and see how often they were able to score late goals when their opponents were knackered, physically and mentally after 60-70 minutes!
Jock Wallace got the deid Huns a bit fitter but then their lack of footballing ability tended to let them down

My admiration for him reaches a peak. Then he does another interview or another write up is in the news about him...

And my admiration takes to another level.

NY times piece? Proper piece of sports journalism that.

Really worth a read and slightly infuriating how far, as a nation we are from that.

When I read this I thought of that documentary he did for SKY(?) and how he held up three envelopes which told of players that would ro wouldn't make it.

I think in the end the envelopes were empty.

I think this is the same sort of thing. A comment about an unnamed player who has great skill but needs the determination to make it.
Then he says that someone with less skill could make it through sheer determination.

This may encourage players to look after themselves and encourage those less skillful to stick in at training as they may get to play first team football.

Brendan Rodgers, make us dream - Celtic FC.

We are really beginning to see how he wants us to play as a unit. I am all for it. Obviously, Europe is a step up in terms of trying to implement it against quicker, smarter and stronger players, but the more practice the better which is why it is grating that there is still loads of moaning at us passing back the way. The players are still learning and I actually think the passing back has decreased as players have increased in their confidence to manage more difficult passes, but if they feel there is nothing on or fail to see that there is, the ball is going back the way for us to build.

I thought the first half last night was a decent test for us. They really pressed us hard and we just dealt with it. Our movement, one touch football and protection of the ball is brilliant. The passing is a mark of the coaching they are getting, with the receiving player almost always controlling it even though we do fair whack passes at one another now with pace.

We do still need to improve for Europe, but you can see what Brendan is wanting and by eff does it give us something to look forward to.

Onwards :rocker:

Last Christmas, I gave you my heart
the very next day, you gave it away
this year, to save me from tears
I'll give it to Brendan Rodgers.
