I like McGhee. He's a curmudgeonly old Tim that wants his team to win.
Let's see how up for things he and his team are when they play the zombies!
Why wouldn't they be? Might just be me but I don't recall either McGhee nor his team flying into challenges against the Huns nor the zombies

That wasn't McGhee! I know, but McGhee won't lie down to them.

I know, but McGhee won't lie down to them. Hope that you're right but there are far too many Scottish pros who seem to think that it's OK to boot lumps out of us and then lie down when they come up against the Huns/zombies!

Great to see him having the nous/conviction to hook Izzy so early when he was clearly a weak link - and I would say the same regardless of how it panned out.
I actually remember having an argument with someone on here who tried to say taking anyone off before half-time was poor management and would be frowned upon by the players. Didn't work out too badly today.

Celtic’s almost complete dominance of the domestic scene was extended when they came from 2-0 down to beat Motherwell 4-3 with a Tom Rogic injury time strike in an enthralling contest at Fir Park. Already, however, Dermot Desmond and Brendan Rodgers have sat down to plan how to reinforce during the January transfer window with a view to being in shape for the crucial Champions League qualifiers in July. Desmond, Celtic’s biggest shareholder, enjoyed a three-hour meal with Rodgers in London, an occasion that reinforced the manager’s high regard for the Irish businessman. “He was super – very, very good,” Rodgers said. “It’s important, in any line of work, to know your boss is interested, that they care, that there's a passion. If you're coming in to deliver this enthusiasm and optimism, you want to have that shared, and never more so than by a commitment from your bosses. “His finger is on the pulse of what's going on. He can't be here all the time, and I wouldn't expect him to be, but at key moments and in key times, he always has been. He's been first class, as has Peter Lawwell (the Celtic CEO). “Peter and I have worked very closely, looking at ways we can take the club forward. They're obviously relying on my experience to take the club on and I’m privileged to be able to do it with the two of them and the rest of the board. “Dermot is very engaging. I love spending time with him. Every message he’ll ever send me or every conversation we have, it’s uplifting. “He’s a real custodian of the club. he’s really, really Celtic daft and just because he's not there doesn't mean he doesn't care. He has really impressive football knowledge. When I talk about the game or about players, he gets it. “I always learn, any time I talk to him. When I spoke with him in the summer it was just about coming in and restoring the club. Could I come have an impact and help it improve on and off the field with my experience? “From that, it was left for me to do and it's been great.” Asked if the failure to have Celtic admitted to the English Premiership and the frustration of seeing the club’s spending power constricted by the small Scottish broadcast market had diluted Desmond’s commitment or his long-term engagement, Rodgers said: “I don't see that, not at all, because I don't think it is a toy to him. It's his life. “He has lots of other business interests but the thing that struck me when I met him and Peter for the first time in London, was the actual passion he has for the club. “And it hasn't diminished at all. There have been difficult times for them but I think they recognise it and they want to improve and football, over time, will change. As long as we’re there at the forefront of it and trying to be up there as one of the leading lights, he's very much engrossed in what's going on.” With Champions League participation a certainty, barring an entirely unforeseeable calamity, Rodgers hopes to have the desired squad strength more or less in place by February 1. “When I analyse it and look at it for the summer, we’re thinking about the process of getting in a few players, bedding them in and having them up and running by the time we come back in for our pre-season, so I think it's a very important window - as long as the right players are available. “That's the difficult bit, because at that time, sometimes they're not. If you can do some business, though, it can be advantageous. Again, it's dependent upon availability - you might see someone you love and he might want to come but his club doesn't want to sell.” With the transfer window still a month away, Celtic consolidated their position at the top of the Scottish Premiership in an extraordinary contest at Fir Park. They had not conceded a league goal in10 hours of football and their total for domestic clean sheets, including the semi-final and final of the Betfred Scottish League Cup, stood at 780 minutes when Motherwell’s Louis Moult beat Craig Gordon with a perfectly judged lob. Moult doubled his tally with a close range strike and almost had a hat-trick by the interval, but a change of shape by Rodgers, who switched to a 3-4-3, put Motherwell on the back foot and they led 3-2 with goals from Callum McGregor, Stewart Armstrong and Patrick Roberts before Lionel Ainsworth made it 3-3. Rogic finally broke Well’s resistance with his stoppage time left-foot drive to keep Celtic eight points ahead of Rangers, who beat Aberdeen 2-1 at Ibrox. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2016/12/03/celtic-manager-brendan-rodgers-buoyed-bydermot-desmonds-promise/

Even at 2-0 down at half-time, I still fully believed he'd turn it round.

Amazing to think that until today, a game in December, we'd only been behind in domestic football for a grand total of 3 minutes.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers defended his "exemplary" backroom staff after critical remarks from Motherwell boss Mark McGhee following the Hoops' dramatic 4-3 win at Fir Park. The Northern Irishman was unhappy that the Scotland assistant boss had tried to interfere with the visitors' shooting practice before a pulsating Ladbrokes Premiership match which had the home side leading at the interval thanks to a Louis Moult double. In a frenzied second half, substitute Callum McGregor reduced the deficit before winger Patrick Roberts levelled to spark a crazy couple of minutes in which Well substitute Lionel Ainsworth restored the hosts' lead only for Stuart Armstrong to equalise again. The final twist came in the 90th minute when Australia midfielder Tom Rogic drove in the winner to keep the leaders unbeaten domestically this term, and there was no love lost between McGhee and Celtic assistant manager Chris Davies at the final whistle. The Well boss was first into the media room afterwards, saying: "Brendan was as good as gold, dignified in victory and dignified in defeat. "There are no problems with Brendan. Some of the other staff are not really Celtic-quality in terms of their behaviour. "I don't know his name actually (Davies) - you have told me his name. He wasn't shaking hands with me. He seemed for some reason to be angry that they won. Explain that to me?" However, when Rodgers emerged to be told of McGhee's "quality" remarks, he said: "I think that is very unfair, especially as he comes up into our warm-up before the game to ask our players to warm up in a different area. He shouldn't be doing that. "I don't think that is very befitting of an assistant manager of a national team and manager of Motherwell. "My staff are exemplary in their behaviour. We know what we are representing. We have integrity. "I said congratulations to the groundsman here before the game because the pitch is very good. But why can't we do our warm-up here at Motherwell? The one we have done in every stadium in the world we have been to so far this season? "So I don't know what the issue was there and maybe that's where it sparked from. "But that isn't the story of the game. The story is that my team were brilliant in the second half." Indeed, Rodgers was more than delighted with the way his players responded to potentially their first league defeat of the season. "It is arguably the most pleasing (win) after being in that adverse situation," he said. "We hadn't had that before so to see the joy in the supporters, they appreciate the fight and spirit in the team. "I thought we were defensively very poor in the first half but I thought we were brilliant in the second half in terms of our composure, at 2-0 down. "Huge credit to the players and the winning mentality and spirit within the team. "I didn't go berserk at half-time - there was none of that. The issues were simple. The back four were too deep and that didn't allow us to press the game and there was too much space, but how could we find the solution? "I am delighted for them." http://www.sportinglife.com/football/live/match-reaction/357113/rodgers-hits-back-at-mcghee

Brilliant reply from Brendan Rogers. Completely turned it round on McGhee. Also, check the photo of Dermot Desmond in the DR online in the dressing room with the team after the BetFred final. Who or what, was in the wee leather flightcase? Crying out for a photoshop!

And also says Rogic winner was a left footer which it wasn't And that the winner "maintained Celtic's unbeaten run", which doesn't make sense.
- that's the other article actually, so I'm the idiot
