First question to Brendan on Monday.... 'Welcome to Celtic, Brendan. Has the new owner of Aston Villa been in touch over the weekend? Was that why you were out of the country?'

'Don't be silly.... I'm here for the TEN, bhoys! '

"Why not Crystal Palace Aston Villa?"

Delighted that we've got our man....admittedly mainly because A. It isn't Keane   and B. It means the whingeathon on the new manager thread is finally over :twitch:

Now let's get on with the important business - whinging about signings.......FFS he's been appointed for nearly three hours now and not a single signing yet, no ambition at all :nono: GTF Park & Lawwell :arrr:
Dont worry Park will already have his 6 summer signings identified for him.
Oh no don't put us on a downer :arrr:

I'm pretty certain this will spell the end for Park.

Brilliant PR from the club with this. Cup final Saturday and every Hun will wake up to a daily ranger full of Celtic and our new dawn. They will be shampootng themselves about next season.

Whatever happens in the final, they will be bombarded on Monday with Brendon's press conference and they will be back in the shadows.

I can't wait for next season

There's no chance Rodgers will stand for any interference.

He despised Liverpool's transfer committee set up and said he'd never work under anything similar to it again.

Iain Bankier coming across like a floof on sky news there. :ffs:
Really? How unlike him.
I for one am shocked!!!

He is the Kevin Kelly of this era - Clueless despite his St.Al's education and deemed harmless and good as a patsy.

As and aside under normal circumstances PL would be all over a Good News day as opposed to just tagging on a few lines :suspect: :hmmm:

By the way, I heard the news thanks to some Tim on the train from Bristol to Cardiff who was talking to his mate on the phone and sounding very happy about it all. If you're reading this, cheers whoever you are

I think Desmond realised this time round that season book sales would really have tumbled had he not appointed a decent manager, a recognised manager. The whole process really has been done rather quickly given that Ronny only left last week (I know it was announced beforehand but he was rightly given his day in the sun).

Look at seasons gone by and the procrastination; Jansen, Venglos. Credit to the board for this one.

I just want Brendan to have full say, that's what worries me, cos of the transfer committee shampoo at Liverpool. In saying that, if Ronny had known what he was doing team wise, we would have gone further in Europe. So hope BR can pick a decent team, bring on the kids we have.

I, for one, welcome our new overlord.

I'm pleased that the position has been filled by someone who seems to have really wanted it. I'd have been very underwhelmed if it had been taken by the likes of Moyes, Keane or Lambert, each of whom has always given me the impression that managing Celtic isn't a particularly big deal to them and something they'd only deign to take on in the absence of any more attractive offers.

Whenever Der Kaiser has remembered that somewhere in his portfolio he has a Scottish football club which he ought to check up on occasionally, he's almost invariably made good decisions and appointments which have proved to be successful. That reason alone is enough to make me believe that Rodgers will do well.

Even if Rodgers sticks 5000 on the gate in terms of season ticket sales, he'll pretty much have paid for himself. That is the crossroad we were at with regards to getting this appointment right to capture the imagination.

This is really effing good isn't it?

I wasn't sure at first, I was definitely up for Moyes, but I think Flawless' unflinching enthusiasm has had a positive effect on us all. Thank eff he didn't get murdered by that guy in the car park.

That's good to know, what I meant was it's not even taken a week since our final game to appoint Rodgers. Statement of intent and all that.

Now lets back him in the transfer market and let him be a manager, not a head coach.
