Dunno, there's still plenty of "you're on a winning run so you'll be wanting to keep that going?" pish.

I can still smell the diesel fumes from being one of the last off of RD's bus. I'm pretty sure he'd already carried his cash box to the office at the depot and headed home before I fell down the stairs onto the road. I enjoyed my time on the bus and have retained great admiration for our erstwhile Norsk Tim. My only regret is I've no autographed ticket stub.
But this, this is something indescribably special.

I used to get goosebumps watching Hartson, Sutton and Henk et all. Now i get goosebumps thinking about the goosebumps I'm going to get watching the pressers and especially watching that team.

We've got a player returning from Injury soon who is the Danny McGrain's Danny McGrain. He'll be the one who is handed the 10.
He'll lead this club on the field to success, great success and he'll be guided by a man who knows what its like to be one of us, and also what it is we want from those who have the honour of wearing that top.

Hail Hail

Quote:

HE could have dined out at Glasgow’s finest restaurant, Le Chardon d’Or.

Or gone to a bar and ordered champagne by the crate.

But Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers didn’t want to hit the town to celebrate winning his first trophy in football.

He went home for some tea and toast.

Celts’ Betfred Cup Final win over Aberdeen at Hampden was a day he’ll never forget.

But for Rodgers there was no wild party or night on the tiles to mark the occasion.

He revealed: “I was home at 8.30pm. You guys were probably out longer than me.

“After the game I went back to the stadium, had a drink with the directors and spoke to the staff at Celtic.

“But I was home by 8.30pm for a cup of tea and a bit of toast, and I watched the game again. I was reading some of the reports and hearing I would have been going long into the night, but no. I was home early, totally shattered.”

Mentally and emotionally, as much as physically.

Out on the steps of Parkhead late on Sunday night, as he spoke to fans who had gathered at the stadium, Rodgers needed a moment to compose himself. For a second or two it seemed like tears were welling up in his eyes.

He revealed: “I had a flashback of something that was important to me.

“It was a nice feeling. It was a great day for everyone and then I just wanted to thank the supporters.

“I just wished some people who aren’t here any more were there, so you get a wee sudden flash of something.

“It was a great day all day round. A great performance all round, and we won.” Rodgers was more than happy for his players to let their hair down and hit the town.

He added: “I’m not a big drinker. I was teetotal until my early 20s, and my parents never drank.

“That’s not to say there’s anything wrong in celebrating with a drink. We do it in different ways.

“I said to the players to make sure they went away and had a couple of days to really enjoy it.

“Some decided to go for a meal, some decided to go and have a real good time. That is absolutely fine. For me, I just wanted to be around people I am close with and my family, and to analyse the game.”

Which he did again on Monday. Then again on Tuesday.

In a fascinating insight into how he works, Rodgers revealed relaxing away from football is something he rarely does.

He added: “You don’t get away from it. We were off Monday and Tuesday and I watched the game again. It’s your life.

“Most managers are the same, I’m not unique. I tried to make management my profession.

“I never had the good fortune of being a big player. I had to study, learn and analyse the game as a young player, and that’s what I do to this day.

“I’ve always looked at how to improve players and the team.

“This is my profession. I’m not rushing out of here to get nine holes in on the golf course.

“This is our life and you need to devote yourself to it. You can never get too complacent.

“Last Sunday was a big game for us, but every game is a big one for us. People have said to me about how well we played at Hampden and how composed we were. But it wasn’t new for us.

“The one thing we know here is every game is massive for us.

“We know how to prepare for these games and we know the consequences. But it allows them to play with a calmness to play well and hopefully go and win.

“For Celtic it is always about winning, then on to the next one.

“I always talk a lot about learning, and that takes time.

“You think back to the Be’er Sheva game, the second leg when we were under real pressure. We coped with it in the last 30 minutes, but I need it to be over a longer period.

“In other games we’ve coped well. We faced big players in the Barcelona match.

“So we came in off the back of real physical exertion in that game, into a cup final when the mind can be tired, and physicality can begin to kick in.

“But we showed we can stay calm under pressure. That’s about your set-up, organisation, and composure in the brain.

“It was a great step forward for us in that aspect because it showed under those conditions, and knowing how important this was for us, that we could play.

“I thought in large spells of the final tactically we were brilliant in how we could control it.”

Going the domestic season unbeaten is now something some Hoops fans are talking about. One or two players mentioned it after the win over Dons.

Rodgers said: “The players are confident after doing well, but I’ll always keep a lid on that for them. There is always something just around the corner you have to be ready for.

“Off the field it’s all about humility, and I don’t think there is any arrogance in what has been said.”

Nothing David Brentish about that interview. Absolute class. There are a lot of people in football and the media with egg on their faces these days. I've no wish to tempt fate but this guy was born for this job. :worthy:

Fwiw there was a low key Q@A with Brendan for an hour last night and what he said was superb to hear but they ask you to keep it private - However one thing he did say which is okay to be out there was that after Sunday's win he came back to Celtic Park and did his talk with the fans outside then spent a bit of time with the players and staff inside and told the players they had two days off but to be back in on time on Wednesday ready to go again - Then added he was home by 8.30pm having a cup of tea and a biscuit and immediately watched the game again.

Was this at the ground then CB? I know what you mean. He's easily the best fit as Celtic boss since MON and there are similarities to the way he handles the media too.

He could be here for years and years if he gets the correct backing from the board :worthy:

Don't know if he'll be able to assemble a better team due to differences in finance, but he could be a better manager.
