I know he was a fan before he came, but I think I'm right in saying that he'd never been to many (if any) games at Celtic Park. I got the impression when he signed that it was more a case that other Rodgers family members were Tims and he liked what he heard about us from them, and of course from the simple fact of him being born on that side of Northern Ireland.

Now though I think he's gone through that thing that so many players from non-Celtic backgrounds do with us, when that realisation of just how special a club it is hits them. Everyone knows Celtic's a big club, and some 'outsiders' appreciate that there's something a wee bit different about it, but really only those of us lucky enough to support it know just how all-encompassingly brilliant it can be to follow Celtic. I've never heard any manager of any club refer to "celebrating with my people"; if you didn't know better you'd say that was a Tommy Burns quote!

Seriously, if he wants it, there's an opportunity for a Ferguson at Man Utd style job for him at Celtic.
He's got it all there if he wants it. The manager to win Championships back to back, regular Champions league experience, treble winning manager, manager that wins 10 in a row, bringing through & developing players and teams with a winning mentality and top it off with a full house every other week.

He's a smart cookie and he's got the players and fans loving it. What's not to like? :)
He`s not kidding when he says he gets it, he may have left Carnlough at a youngish age to be a professional footballer, but anyone who has ever spent any time in that part of Antrim will tell you it`s as steeped in Celtic as any stronghold in any other part of the world.

Like many guys who support the club but have to train and play every week, he`ll have missed the weekly buzz and discussion/information saturation that comes with going to games but he`ll be making up for that now because he`s in the driving seat, and there`s really no better place to be for a diehard with all the tools to be one of our best ever drivers.

I don`t think the wean in a sweetie shop feeling will wear off for a long while with him yet.

he is 100 per cent a Tim. he wouldnt have gone to many OF games as a youngster running the hatchet throwing gauntlet at Larne but like everyone else in the Glens he would have gone when he could. plus down at the coast in the 70s and 80s we picked snide up BBC scotland so the games were available long before sky and bt sport.

Our part of Antrim very much green and white. Where Fergus McCann got the last shares for the takeover.

The Mckillops descendants wasn`t it? Also Hugh Darrochs ancestors were from the Glens I`m sure as well.

There`s a story in there somewhere.... from Glen to Glen.

it was the Dr McSparrans who had the shares from the Kellys and the Whites. Fergus sent someone over - I cant remember who - but the DR ran an innuendo story about Fergus team holing up in IRA territory type thing.

As much as he is loving being Celtic manager, he's loving where he's living and the freedom it allows him. Both him and Chris Davis have settled really well and their families are happy. The significance of this should not be underestimated. He could be here for a good while. :worthy:

And yes, I would have preferred Moyes . Shows you how much I know. :ffs:
Hes said in a few interviews that hes enjoying living here.

Good to here cos some struggle with the "fishbowl"

Regarding that "fishbowl" stuff - I remember listening to SportsSound way back when Souness was in charges of OldCo and Cesar was managing Celtic. The assembled panel heard Souness bleating on how he couldn't even go out for a meal with his wife in Glasgow. Big Billy remarked that he had heard Graeme say this before, someone had told him it when he (Cesar) was out for a meal with his wife in Glasgow.

Always trust the wiki, it was the Grants from Toomebridge with the key shares...http://www.thecelticwiki.com/page/Tom+Colgan.

Mckillops folks were from Glenarm. Hugh Darrochs (Darragh) father was also from Co. Antrim.

Like I say the Antrim connection with the club is worth a story, especially now with Brendan in charge

Based on the job he done at Lazio I'd vote for him again in a heartbeat...

Incredible to think he is only 43 years old, but has been in coaching/management for over 20 years. Everything about the man shouts class, and in the true meaning of the word, he carries himself with dignity ( far removed from the hun version)

Steven Gerrard said he is the best 'one on one' manager he has ever worked with, and the improvement in some of our players is proving this.

Who knows what the future holds for any of us, but I've got a feeling he is here for the long haul.

Anyway, let's enjoy every minute the man is here because if he does go, he is one tough act to follow and replace.

God bless you, Brendan.

was hearing that Chris Davis is a hugely important contributor to the Rodgers management team. He apparently sees games in a different sort of way to most people, where he only sees the shape of teams rather than individuals, and will produce reports that are mind bogglingly indepth re formations and strategies of future opponents. Seems like a very good guy to have on board.

Very much respected in terms of analysis. Was brendan's coach and head of analysis at liverpool and swansea. seems to have taken the step up to assistant with both hands and done well so far.

On the topic of Brendans backroom team, the players seem to have a great relationship with them especially Glen Driscoll, big change from last season.

:boik: The fact that that is a legitimate comparison is awful. We're going to look back and laugh for many years to come.

I have a good friend who passed away 2 years ago at a very young age who doted on Celtic. He was early 30’s. He was an Antrim man and grew up with all sorts volleyed and threw at him because of his creed and the team he loved.

He would have been over joyed we have BR.

I know its been posted numerous times, but we are on the verge of something very, very special here.

I doubt very much a Brendan Rodgers Celtic team will allow a refereeing decision to cost us a trophy.
