I know he was a fan before he came, but I think I'm right in saying that he'd never been to many (if any) games at Celtic Park. I got the impression when he signed that it was more a case that other Rodgers family members were Tims and he liked what he heard about us from them, and of course from the simple fact of him being born on that side of Northern Ireland.

Now though I think he's gone through that thing that so many players from non-Celtic backgrounds do with us, when that realisation of just how special a club it is hits them. Everyone knows Celtic's a big club, and some 'outsiders' appreciate that there's something a wee bit different about it, but really only those of us lucky enough to support it know just how all-encompassingly brilliant it can be to follow Celtic. I've never heard any manager of any club refer to "celebrating with my people"; if you didn't know better you'd say that was a Tommy Burns quote!

Seriously, if he wants it, there's an opportunity for a Ferguson at Man Utd style job for him at Celtic.
He's got it all there if he wants it. The manager to win Championships back to back, regular Champions league experience, treble winning manager, manager that wins 10 in a row, bringing through & developing players and teams with a winning mentality and top it off with a full house every other week.

He's a smart cookie and he's got the players and fans loving it. What's not to like? :)

I wasn't that excited about his appointment. Oh how wrong can I be. It's a cliché but he 'gets it'. Pay him whatever he wants to stay for as long as he wants.

Man he is so good. Think the amount of dafties in here that wanted moyes
I wanted Moyes and I'm so effing glad in the end we went for Brendan. I think there was a sort of media created image of him being a bit of an eejit with no real substance and he's absolutely shattered that myth. The man is fantastic and I hope he's here for the 10. I utterly adore him.

Think you are right about the media created image. I was a bit underwhelmed about the prospect of having him as Manager, but he has proven to be absolutely the right choice. Apart from his obvious love of the club, he really projects a thoroughly professional image, and talks so intelligently about the game. He is very impressive.

Slightly off topic......did anyone see the video on Celtic TV showing Dermot Desmond celebrating with the team in the dressing room after the game....?? He looked ecstatic and deserves a lot of credit for getting Brendan on board.

Goes to show - we might be able to get away with scouting players, but not managers. You need people at the helm who understand the magnitude of the club and the job. You can't have a situation where the manager is getting paid less than certain fringe players. He is the most important man at the club and I hope we never, ever go down a Ronny Deila type route again.
Amen

A million times this. Manager is the most important job at the club and the one place that can't be skimped on.

All but 1 player that featured yesterday were all at Celtic during Deila's reign. Proof if ever proof was needed just how wide off the mark the 'Manager doesn't actually matter these days' loony bastards were.

It's actually remarkable how quickly we've shifted from a bunch of bottling gimps, to a team that's absolutely dominating Scottish Football without really coming out of second gear.

My favourite claim last year was that there were no other better managers that we could feasibly appoint, so we best stick with him.

One suggesting for 5 years :lmao:

Dermot is a guy who rarely steps out of the shadows

It's a good thing that he is so publicly identifying himself with Celtic and Project Brendan.

As much as he is loving being Celtic manager, he's loving where he's living and the freedom it allows him. Both him and Chris Davis have settled really well and their families are happy. The significance of this should not be underestimated. He could be here for a good while. :worthy:

And yes, I would have preferred Moyes . Shows you how much I know. :ffs:

I was a bit dubious about the stories of Desmond's disgust at over celebration in the directors box after our semi-final loss to The Rangers being responsible for Brendan's signing.

I think Desmond's out of character appearance yesterday just might lend this story a wee bit of credibility. It might be a little "Up Yees" to GASL and Co.

Thought the exact same thing. Hugely significant DD is in with the players celebrating. Hopefully he'll given Brendan the backing he wants/needs to stay.
