The board would have been forgiven for getting a "pragmatic" guy like Moyes in (after the air fairy pish we'd had for two seasons, and a poor final season with Lennon). But DD knew who he wanted, and he's done the business. Fair play to the man with the money for putting his foot down.

As much as he says it's an honour to manage celtic I can say the feeling is mutual as in its an honour to see this man manage my club

My Favourite manager in my time has been Martin but brendan is getting rather near in over taking him

Potentially the best signing since Henke. He could be that important/legendary. There's also this real feeling of togetherness now which has been missing since Lenny's time (if not MON to be honest). When was the last time somebody wasn't arsey about something a manager does?

I know he was a fan before he came, but I think I'm right in saying that he'd never been to many (if any) games at Celtic Park. I got the impression when he signed that it was more a case that other Rodgers family members were Tims and he liked what he heard about us from them, and of course from the simple fact of him being born on that side of Northern Ireland.

Now though I think he's gone through that thing that so many players from non-Celtic backgrounds do with us, when that realisation of just how special a club it is hits them. Everyone knows Celtic's a big club, and some 'outsiders' appreciate that there's something a wee bit different about it, but really only those of us lucky enough to support it know just how all-encompassingly brilliant it can be to follow Celtic. I've never heard any manager of any club refer to "celebrating with my people"; if you didn't know better you'd say that was a Tommy Burns quote!

Seriously, if he wants it, there's an opportunity for a Ferguson at Man Utd style job for him at Celtic.

Loving his enthusiasm, his determination, his inclusion of absolutely everyone on the team with subs and backroom staff and even those not stripped.
His humble yet passionate interviews, and his philosophy on how he wants us to play.
He alone has the whole club buzzing again, and has the captain playing arguably the best football of his career.
He treats every game and result as a learning curve to drive the team on to be bigger and better.
I would even go as far as to say that right now, he has got me already at a level I was at with MON by the end of his first season and yet we have only won the first trophy.
I find myself being excited for the next game to come round, and that must be what he has the players like too.
Hope he stays for a good while, and keeps up that whole demeanor for the duration.
Thank you Brendan.

Bit of a worry, hopefully the CL can provide the challenge required to keep him interested. The good thing about that is it would also require cash to be made available to actually compete at that level. The board have tried the other way and it wasn't working, even on a financial level. Ever diminishing returns. Hopefully we've found the right mixture compared to the profligacy of the MON years where we still made a loss every year. If we play this right and can get a constant stream of Dembele type signings that we can profit on after 2 years while increasing the general squad quality using profits from sales / CL income it can work out.
The failure (financially) of the MON years was rewarding the Seville team after the fact with long contracts. A more pragmatic version could have seen Lambert, Sutton, Hartson etc sold for good money at that point and re-invested. Instead we gave out long term lucrative contracts to guys who had little left in the tank.

There's nothing easy about what he's done.

The way we approached the game against Barca shows that. We fell short and significantly so. But he is trying to instill something in this team. The domestic results and successes are a by-product of that.

I'm glad the fans aren't yet taking this for granted (we started to under MON after a while) and I'm certain that BR doesn't. I think he'd be quite annoyed by the suggestion that what he's been doing as easy

Martin O'Neill levels of love for the man right now. He's taking us to the places we want to go. He gets Celtic, what it means to people, but he's also a good coach who'll develop anyone we bring in, along with getting the best of what we have. His substitutions and in-game changes are, in the main, refreshingly positive. Just a bit happy. :)

Goes to show - we might be able to get away with scouting players, but not managers. You need people at the helm who understand the magnitude of the club and the job. You can't have a situation where the manager is getting paid less than certain fringe players. He is the most important man at the club and I hope we never, ever go down a Ronny Deila type route again.

I think you are doing BR a disservice. He is most definitely born and bred a Celt like numerous of us in the Glens of Antrim. You have to remember he was a talented footballer and therefore spent most weekends playing i.e. Not many opportunities to travel over. To hear him speak last night should leave you in no doubt of his emotional attachment to our great club.
He has come home to do the good work he was born to carry out.
Oohhhh the Green Glens of Antrim are calling to me..........
