Why would we sign an old guy who gave up playing a year ago on a short term deal?
Cos he is a far better player than anyone else besides Brown.

If Lawwell is not going to spend some proper money on a CM in January then we could do a lot worse than bring in Gerrard on a 12-18 month deal. He would pretty much guarantee the treble too, which is overdue.
He's not got the legs for the champions league and we don't need him to win the domestic league.

Waste of money
This.

Too late for Europe, the only games that his weakness costs us matches. Wait for the summer and get someone with a future in.

He'd be better than bitton, McGregor and Armstrong so I'd have him even though I dislike stevieme as Everton are my 2nd team

Gerrard can go to eff. Pub brawling scum that he is.
 agreed, he's done, has off field baggage and we don't need a retiree who will get big money for a year

Does a fight in a pub 7 years ago count as baggage?

I'm on the fence with this Stevie Gerrard rumour

my head says he's done, isn't an investment for long term Champions league and would be a waste of a wage we could use on a younger player to build into the team

my heart says he'd be great domestically for this year even though he'd take armstrong or Rogic's place in the team (which would be harsh).

Lastly, he would be great to watch on a Saturday if he stayed fit and would also hurt the Huns to the core who follow Liverpool as their english team

There's no point in it. We should be looking for a younger, fitter hungrier player. There's no value in Carrick or indeed Gerrard, especially in that position in the park. It's not like it's Centre half.

If it was Gerrard of 5 years ago, yes. We couldn't afford him though nor would he come. Gerrard of now? No thanks. He's done, and there's no point throwing money at an ageing player in that position.
Different for goalkeepers. I wouldn't complain if we were signing Buffon lol

If Brendan Rodgers wants him then that's fine by me. BR understands the jigsaw better than i do so i'll not quibble about whatever pieces he wants to use.

Not only would he command a ton of cash, he would be taking up a valuable position that could be filled by a younger, hungrier player with a good sell on value.

Makes no sense to bring Gerrard in, other than hoping it creates some exposure for the club and Scottish football.

Celtic should NEVER be seen as Timmys' (end of career) Holiday Camp.
Im not in favour of Gerrard but that's a very sweeping statement. If anything guys like Toure and Gerrard if we'd got him a year ago are exactly what we will need.

The good Gerrard is not really required until the next CL campaign and the good Gerrard most likely isn't there anymore - Throw in he will be even more finished by the next campaign and it doesn't make sense - There is very little point in getting him in in January especially if McCarthy does finally transpire at Celtic Park in the next window.

Could be a Mcallister/Liverpool type signing, if wages are minimal and its short term I don't see why not.
