Why would we sign an old guy who gave up playing a year ago on a short term deal?
Cos he is a far better player than anyone else besides Brown.

If Lawwell is not going to spend some proper money on a CM in January then we could do a lot worse than bring in Gerrard on a 12-18 month deal. He would pretty much guarantee the treble too, which is overdue.

Gerrard would walk into our midfield just now.
Just as well as he cant run.
Bitton can run. He just chooses not to.
McGregor, Henderson and Armstrong can run all day but couldn't lace his boots.

I should have said he would slip right in anyway.

Gerrard spoke well of us in the past on LFCTV, as did Carragher. He'd be a stick-on for a screamer against the Huns as well.

He might not be the God he once was but he's still an excellent player. Would take him for sure. Shame to see how he turned out as a man (sure I've moaned about his mad stance on Benitez before) but he's an exceptional player.

makes absolutely no sense at all. League will be won, League Cup won ( or lost), and we'll be out of Europe.
Why would we sign an old guy who gave up playing a year ago on a short term deal?
Actually, I disagree.

Our midfield options right now are Broony, Bitton, Armstrong and McGregor. We've more or less established that McGregor isn't good enough, and Bitton and Armstrong need upgraded.
all 4 are more than good enough to see us through the 2nd half of the season which will only be 19-24 domestic games

theres no need at all for short term cover. although hopefully we can get a quality long term addition sorted

Added to that, Gerrard would probably still need to be our highest paid player for us to get him, so he definitely wouldn't be cover.

It would be a no for me I think, maybe different if we somehow make it beyond Christmas in Europe.

Would have made sense at the start of the season, not January where the league is all but won and we're out of Europe.

I want a younger and hungrier player then Gerrard (admittedly we'd have to splash the cash) who's ready to prove his worth for us when the next summer transfer window rolls round.

Gerrard has had his day.

Unless there's a proviso of a coaching role for Gerrard at the end of the season it would be pretty pointless. Would rather look elsewhere.

No way should be giving Gerrard a retirement home.

Would much rather we brought two or three young players in the same mound as the ones we found this year.

He isn't going to win us any more trophies than we couldn't win anyway, plus he has had the shampoo haircut since he was about 6 years old.

I'd imagine there's a difference between Gerrard's not running and Commons' not running. He's also miles and miles ahead of Commons as a footballer, Ina position most would agree is weak.

It's not a long term solution and could easily see the season out and let BR get someone longer term in summer

He's more than capable of taking Bitton's spot and helping the younger pups develop

No brainer

And the orcs will still say krancjar is better

He's not got the legs for the champions league and we don't need him to win the domestic league.

Waste of money

Midfield is the area we must invest in and I think we will. We don't need Gerard - Scott Brown is playing an effin blinder this season and we'll have no post Christmas European football.
