I suppose the next challenge is setting us up solidly in Europe.

Was moaning that we weren't keeping clean sheets a month or two back, particularly after that Huns, Barça & ICT run, but we've done well since then.

Minus the Red Imps at home, we've conceded in every game we've played in Europe this season. Needs rectifying.
This years Champions League campaign is a learning curve, Brendan has said so himself. It was all about qualification, bankrolling £30 million to give us the funds to improve our squad and maybe make a proper impact in the group stages next season.
Absolutely, not disputing that. Think most people would have taken that point of view the minute the group came out.

Just think it would be good to see some of our defensively sound domestic performances being transferred into Europe over the next three games. A very tough ask I know, and asking for a clean sheet in any of the three games is probably asking too much, but we have looked very fragile to most attacks we've faced since the Be'er Sheva away game to be honest. That will need to stop at some point if we wish to make the progress we all hope we can make in the coming seasons.
The defence doesn't get enough protection in europe. We need to buy before we will see clean sheets

Yes I know this is VERY VERY sad of me, but I thought it would be interesting to see how many pages Brendan had generated since his appointment compared with Ronny over the same period at the helm. Nowhere close - 367 compared with Ronny's 594!

Is it a bit like when the referee is running the game well - no one seems to notice him.

He knows how to change a game that's not going our way. Love having him here.

brendan talking about next 3 or 4 years

BRENDAN RODGERS claims Celtic can pull off a Champions League miracle by beating Borussia Monchengladbach, Barcelona and Manchester City.

The Hoops go into tonight’s clash in Germany sitting at the foot of Group C with just one point from three matches.

But manager Rodgers believes his men can rise from the dead to progress to the last 16 with a series of incredible results.

Their most immediate challenge has become even more difficult as Kolo Toure, Jozo Simunovic, Kieran Tierney and Leigh Griffiths are all sidelined.

Rodgers said: “The next three games are all tough but we can win them.

“One thing you learn in football is that the impossible can become the possible.

“Realistically, we’ll go into them as underdogs. The only way we can challenge that is to put in the maximum effort and play tactically and with concentration to the highest level.

“I know the superpowers we are competing against, so you need to have a sense of reality as well, but it shouldn’t stop our ambition to want to be the very best we can be.

“That is the standard I need to drive and I want to drive at the club in every aspect on and off the field. We have to strive to get there. In order for that, there is a lot of work to do.

“The aim for me coming here was to really build the club, and for us that means qualifying for the Champions League, getting out of the group stage and seeing how far we can go. We need to have that ambition. It is a building process over the next three or four years, to get into a position where we arrive at these games knowing we have a great chance of getting the result.

“I would hope Celtic are a last-16 team in two or three years.”

Rodgers reckons his side have already been taught some valuable lessons in Europe.

He said: “The game against Gladbach at home was disappointing because we didn’t play out of our shape. It was the least effective that we’ve played.

“When the players watched it and analysed it, they learned.

“If you make the slightest mistake at this level, you get punished for it.”

Mikael Lustig or the recalled Dedryck Boyata could come into contention to partner Erik Sviatchenko in central defence.

Decent performance. Back BR with cash in January and the summer, and we should improve again for a crack at CL football next season.

Made a few brave decisions in the second half tonight and it paid off. It would have paid off even more so if McGregor had taken his chance.

We are making rapid progress under him.

I love him.

Real shame he never got that midfielder he was after.

Needs backed in January so that new players are fully immersed in his ways by next summer. No excuse not to back the man.

The fact that we are sitting here disappointed with a draw away to a Bundesliga side tells us how far we have come since the humblings from Molde.

Give him the cash to bring in a quality midfielder and I'm confident that night's like this will yield three points under Brendan in the years to come.

This. Give us an actual defensive midfielder. In fact, 2 please.

He's a fantastic manager. Learned from last week and set us up in a much better manner. Recognised he can't trust Bitton at this level too. Let him have the players he wants and he'll get us through these group stages.

To play like that tonight in spite of losing some big players is quite an achievement. He gets the best out of his squad.
