Interestingly he has brought in ex Chelsea PSG and Real Madrid sports scientist Jack Naylor as head of science replacing Ian Coll. Slowly getting his staff in place
We have a "head of science"? :ponder:

Very interesting interview on Celtic TV with Glen Driscoll. Talking about there being no injuries and the work that's done to get best out of players. He said the heart monitors and GPS provide real time results so they can monitor if players reach stress points. I think he was talking about training but I wonder if it applies in matches too. It would be useful if we could anticipate Lustig or Forrest breaking down and intervene.

Credit to Summer Harl. Most of the comments about her are what you'd expect of an attractive woman on the but she led a really informative interview. She could go far

She's absolutely superb. When Rodgers was paraded at Celtic Park, she had a ton of dead air to fill waiting on him to come out and handled it superbly.

Massive improvement since she came in.

Must feel like he will be here in the long term, PL wants as much continuity as possible hence Tim Williamson, Stevie woods and others staying through different managers
Isn't Woods very highly thought of? I know Forster thinks a lot of him.

MICHAEL BALLACK has urged Celtic fans to savour Brendan Rodgers while they can because he reckons it’s only a matter of time before he’s lured back south.

The German legend worked alongside the ex-Liverpool boss when they were together at Chelsea.

Rodgers was in charge of the kids during Ballack’s four-year stint at Stamford Bridge.

But it was his handling of the senior pros at the club that left a lasting impression on the former European Player of the Year.

Ballack was a huge admirer of the Irishman’s ability to man-manage players and knew he was destined for the top.

Now an analyst for ESPN the German midfielder, capped 98 times for his country during a glittering career, wouldn’t be surprised to see Rodgers end up back at Chelsea.

He said: “Of course I thought he’d go on to bigger and better things. Everyone starts low and early. He started working with youth players, the academy.

“Now I think he has adapted very well to professional football with all the circumstances, the media, the pressure you have in big clubs.

“Liverpool and Celtic are big teams. He is a guy who loves football, loves inside football, the real game. I am sure he will make his way.

“He is good enough also for bigger clubs. No disrespect to Celtic, but, as you know, there are teams as a player or manager that you always have an eye on.

“Chelsea? I don’t know yet. He won’t think or talk about that. Other people should do it and why not? He’s a good guy to work with, he creates a good atmosphere. In the dressing room he knows how to speak and also how to put pressure on the players.”

Ballack was plagued by injury problems in his spell in England and spent much of his rehabilitation working under Rodgers.

And it was during his time on the training ground he got to know the inner workings of the Hoops boss.

He added: “Brendan was youth coach when I was at Chelsea.

“Sometimes I had my individual work in the training ground and before I joined the first team I had to do a lot of training sessions with the youth team.

“I think, first of all, he’s a really nice guy who has a good hand for young players. But also for experienced players. I remember when I was injured I trained with him.

“I can tell you the way he handles experienced players is respectful. He’s not a coach who actually tries to show that he has power or as a manager that he has power.

“He always looks for a good relationship with players. My experience tells me that he handled both really well which, from what I know in my past, not every manager can do. It comes down to personality, how you step up in front of the team and how you want to handle your team and how big is your team. He can do both.

“He showed it at Liverpool as well. With all the expectations he did a good job, developed the team and I wish him all the best at Celtic.”

Scott Sinclair was a kid coming through the ranks at Chelsea under Rodgers and, while he didn’t fulfil his potential in London, Ballack does believe he can take his career to the next level in Glasgow.

Given Sinclair’s undoubted ability his former Blues team-mate reckons he should be playing for England.

Ballack said: “Scott was there too. It goes too quick sometimes with young players, putting them into the level in which they shouldn’t be at that stage.

“Of course, if you are talented and young then everyone thinks you can be the new...whoever, putting that pressure on them, you don’t help young players.

“He’s still very talented, he’s quick, he’s skilful. The onus is now on him to make another step. It’s not just about being a good player. I don’t want to use the term ‘world class’. But, ‘international class’ — that should be the target for him because the talent is there.”

During his work for ESPN, Ballack has closely studied Borussia Moenchengladbach, who take on Celtic next Wednesday at Parkhead in the Champions League.

And, while he insists the Bundesliga outfit have more quality than the Scots, he fears they could crumble at the white-hot reception they receive in Glasgow.

He added: “Moenchengladbach did well against Barcelona but couldn’t get a point out of it. So they paid for a little naivety.

“Celtic are more experienced in the Champions League over recent years but with the quality of Moenchengladbach, I’m convinced they can win.

“It will be a challenge for them as Celtic have a great home record.

“That atmosphere can affect any team. If you have this under control and are prepared for an atmosphere like that and handle that, you can deliver.

“If you can’t, it can be a problem for Moenchengladbach and Celtic can overrun them with their fans at their back.

“Not many Bundesliga arenas can match Celtic Park.

“I played there once with Bayern Munich in 2003 and it was an incredible atmosphere. You try to enjoy it but it affects you. Hopefully you take the positive energy.”

All very scientific now but Rodgers explained recently how the style of play is crucial.Against Barcelona we couldn't cope with their ability or their fitness because we surrendered the ball too easily.Against Man City we played on the front foot, matched their possession and therefore didn't die in the later stages.
