Still looks to me like we had a back 5 though. This is a still frame early second half of the match, I don't know who is the RB position, but you can see Lustig tucked in as a CB

Commons. He effectively played as an auxiliary right back the whole game.

Commons put in a great shift that night
Yeah, and it's a bit baffling that he hasn't been as involved. Even his experience of CL games (in which he massively delivered) is pretty crucial in a way that Kolo's and Brown's is. I know he isn't good enough for a long term project, and he probably doesn't fit into our main system, but not many fit into whatever system we played against Barca. I think he is tidy enough on the ball to be able to retain possession a bit more--and that seemed to be our plan on Tuesday night.

Is Commons not injured?

Is he still? I thought he wasn't--there you go. He isn't in the squad either way

Commons just doesn't fit into a Rodgers team.

He is also not the best at retaining possession. He was a great servant for the club but his time is up.

Another stupid question to BR about Joey Barton. "Do you have a view on Joey Barton being suspended at Rangers?"

No.

What the feck do our PR people get paid money for?
They should have known that at least one of the zombies in the media would be likely to ask such a moronic question. The press should have been well warned that Brendan was only going to talk about CFC matters!
Someone should get their bass kicked for letting this happen!

"Brendan, could you say something controversial about a subject that you have nothing to do with and hold no interest in just so we can all print/broadcast it and try to justify our existence for another day or so? Unfortunately, your reasoned and balanced analysis of this sport just isn't enough to satisfy the rabid mob that we think we have to entertain. No? Ok, we'll just check what's on Twitter."

Nah, that's a story in itself.

Rodgers refuses to answer questions on Joey. Or, Celtic hierarchy censor Brendan.

The only way I would have handled it differently was to answer simply "No." Don't give them a single sound bite.

we know Brendan Rodgers won't stay at Celtic forever, we will get 3/4 years out of him if we are lucky. I'd love to see a joint management team of Chris Sutton and Roy Keane to replace him. Would be awesome
Some fine trolling, Bravo
no-one has ever tried the bad cop - bad, unhinged cop combination before - might work :rocker:

Baffling?
The manager has talked about filling his team with pace.

Even were he fit (and he seldom has been this calendar year), whose place in the team would he take?

I would really appreciate from now on we didn't have another Lincoln Imp result, or a 7-0 thrashing (even by the best team on the planet), thank you.

Certainly, and by all means, more humpings of the Sevco Zombies, but enough of the Euro embarrassments. Cheers.

My favourite part of that was when he said that in 2 or 3 years down the line he would be extremely disappointed a result like Tuesday's and although there's obviously slight disappointment he knows the players aren't there yet.

From that i've interpreted that:

a) He's in it for the long haul
b) He's absolutely determined to improve us and will

The only job that I could see that would temp him is the Chelsea one, if they don't come knocking, I can see him staying until him feels that he can't progress the team any further, with the standard the team has it is a few years down the line, if Desmond gives him a decent transfer kitty to use/strengthen the team

I know that he hasn't overspend so far, but I do believe that there is money to spend if BR wants to, but this window was about BR bringing in players that he knew would strengthen the team, so it is mostly former players, the next few windows should be about bringing in players that could add to what he has now when he has his former players in

I've not watched it yet but I will. :) I get the feeling he doesn't just want us to punch above our weight in the CL but that he wants us to compete. For that, he needs time.
