Not a slave to a particular system, not afraid to make decisions (and has got nearly every one correct so far) and has the respect and buy in of the players.

What a difference having a real manager.
Any of the moneyball (or whatever the feck it is) disciples that thought a manager is irrelevant and it's all about the wage bill care to comment on Brendan so far? Come out, come out, wherever you are.... :)

Edit: Would have taken Moyes over him myself at the time. Sorry Brendan, forgive me. :( :ffs:

Same here, I thought BR was a knob who would just spout David Brent-esque nonsense. How wrong was I

Rodgers made changes in beer sheeva to hold onto a slim aggregate lead, not only once but twice. Showed he can change tactics & team when needing to defend something.

Then

Rodgers at 2-1 makes a change to go and kill a game, which duly turns out to be a 5-1 rout. Showed he can change tactics & team when going for the kill too.

Then

Rodgers puts Luke Shanley in his place when trying to be funny by giving it "Leigh who..." - telling him "Dont be disrespectful".

Delighted. What a man.

Possibly better suited in the De Vries / Gordon thread...regardless...

Mate of mine works for sports statistics company providing data to Sky etc.

Had an interesting chat with him this morning and he said that the Sweeper Keeper role that BR is fond of will likely lose teams that use it around 5 goals per season due to slack passes or being caught out of position.

However, the number of extra goals scored is around 20.

This is to do with the keeper pulling opposition strikers further forward and the knock on effect of the midfield and defense trying to cover that extra man.

I'm not sure we've seen it implemented by BR fully yet, but it's clearly something he's keen to make the most of - as is Guardiola, it would appear.

So there you go.

Noticed that a bit in the Huns game. De Vries has the ball at his feet so they're drawn forward and he knock it right onto Dembele's head in a bit of space for the flick on.

I loved that. Don't know that Shanley meant anything by it specifically but BR's reply gave the hacks here absolutely no headlines. :) The other week some of them were dripping the poison about Leigh being disappointed by being subbed and trying to manufacture some sort of rift. He is well able for them.

2 years?

He has already managed Swansea then Liverpool, do you really think he will be rushing back to manage Stoke, West Ham and the likes when he has a crack at CL each year & a crack at 10 in a row available
The EPL's gone all foreign in its management the past 5 years or so. Cant see him getting a big gig down there. Working abroad will be his next destination.

Another who wanted Moyes and absolutely delighted to be wrong. Rodgers is the real deal, and completely the right fit for us at this point in time. Long may he reign.
