I also wondered what he was doing bringing on Armstrong. It was the right change and Armstrong deserved that goal.

Our manager

Me too, well not so much wondering as saying "what the actual eff is he doing? Armstrong? ARMSTRONG?? I could make more of an impact than him"

Thought he had lost the plot when he replaced rogic with armstrong.
totaly changed the pattern once more during a match.
Brendan is one of those managers, players will improve no matter how limited they have looked in previous games.

love the guy :)
Thought the same. But turned out to be a good substitution.
Seems BR can do no wrong at the moment, what an impact.

BRENDAN Rodgers hoped that Celtic’s greatest ever manager Jock Stein would be looking down with pride today after his team ran riot against Rangers in the Glasgow derby.
Moussa Dembele was the hat-trick hero for the Scottish champions, with Scott Sinclair and Stuart Armstrong also on target for the Hoops in a fantastic 5-1 victory.
Joe Garner got the sole reply for Mark Warburton’s side who ended the game with 10 men when Philippe Senderos saw red in the closing stages for a second bookable offence.
Today was also the 31st anniversary of Jock Stein’s death when the great man passed away on that terrible night at St Ninian Park in Cardiff after guiding Scotland to the brink of the World Cup finals in Mexico.
And the manager also revealed that he reminded his players before the match got underway about the legacy of the Celtic icon and his own father, Malachy, who sadly passed away on this day five years ago.
Speaking after the game, the Hoops boss said: “I said that in my team talk. There were two today as my father was five years dead today, so it was ironic we scored five goals and obviously Jock Stein was 31 years today.
“In one of Jock’s quotes he talked about that any football game was only about getting the two points because obviously back then it was two points. I said to the players today, for us, it’s about getting three points, but when you beat one of your rivals, it’s a wee bit sweeter and that was the message.
“But the message was primarily about a guy looking down who set the tone and the template for this club, and if he is looking down, making sure we do him proud.
“This is a guy who created a template of playing football here and hopefully he is looking down proud and sees a team with that mentality still to do this day – front foot, aggressive, no fear.
“And when things go against you, showing that mentality to bounce back. It’s still very early. We have only been in a few months but with the players we have here and the couple of additions we have brought in, they are working at a very good level.”
The Irishman was delighted with every member of the side after they dominated the game from start to the finish on a memorable day in Paradise.
And the fabulous victory, coming on the back of international week, maintained Celtic’s 100 per cent start to the season and moved them four points clear at the top of the table, with a game in hand.
The Hoops boss: “It was a great day for the club and the team. It was a brilliant team performance. If you think of all the travelling this team has put in over the last couple of weeks, with a lot of players away, to get back in and produce that level of performance with that energy in the team, I thought it was an outstanding team performance.
“We were very prepared for the game. You have to be as Mark has done an excellent job with Rangers in how he gets the team to play.
“I felt today, in every element of football, we earned the right to win a game of football. Our aggression and our pressing high up the pitch was very good and that allows us to pass.
“When you press the game well, you can get on the ball and pass it and that allowed us to create opportunities.
“We kept good tactical discipline and the second goal came from that. We wanted to press, but at times when you can’t press you have to drop out, and for that we were able to win the ball and score on the counter-attack.
“We showed lots of elements of the team today and hopefully you can see the development from maybe a few months ago when there was bad feeling from the loss at Hampden. Today there was a very dominant performance and we showed lots of great traits in the game.”

This guy. He gets it.
He is steeped in Celtic and he is living his own dream - He so gets Our Club and what it means to the Celtic Supporters because he genuinely is one.

Can get us to 8iar  and then the lure of going for 10iar would be so strong for him.  - King is rippin' the pish with them - The Bears will be turning soon (a fair number already are) and nobody is going to come in and put real dosh into the cheating feckers.

That team had De Vries,Toure and Sinclair the rest were part of Deila's era and Rodgers didn't even have Deila's best player available to him - Great to have a real Manager.

Good times - Let's enjoy the ride. :rocker:

I dont want his babies, they cry and keep you up all night. You guys can fight over that.

I love that the players hes brought in are starting and putting in great performances. He's turned around players that were going backwards under Deila. He has a presence that you can sense on the TV. He is a manager.

I'd say that what he's done, is doing, for us is the same as Tite has done for Brazil. The change in belief and willingness of players to perform is incredible. Its been night and day these past couple of months.

I'm not thinking about how long he'll stay, etc. just enjoy the moment.

I like his decisiveness. He makes adjustments with a confidence which spreads to the players and they perform better because they understand what he wants and they also believe in it. That's a very refreshing change.

He's not wasted much time getting rid of the duds and bringing in much better players to replace them.

So far, so good.

Up to this point, however, we've only really beaten sides that we ought to be beating. It remains to be seen whether he's got that extra element that will enable the team to punch above its weight against the giants in the way that MON, WGS and NL managed to accomplish. We'll get an indication of that at the Nou Camp.

It's a big concern that clean sheets are still few and far between, even against the likes of St. Johnstone, Sevco and Aberdeen. I'll be very interested to see if he's capable of setting us up to resist teams that will dominate us for most of the game. It may not be pretty to watch but I'd far rather have a smash-and-grab one goal win over Man Utd or Barca with a disciplined, well organised, backs-to-the-wall display than watch us suffer another humiliating 6-1 hammering.

If he can deliver on that level, then we'll have good reason to believe that he's special.

Don't think he's naive enough to think we can play the same way in Europe. We have the tools to counter as needed. Five at the back?
