So glad David Moyes isn't our manager. I was all for it before an appointment was made. Looking at it now though, it could only have been Brendan I was the same, honestly think we dodged a bullet there.

Quoting limited to 3 levels deep ideally like two. Splob seems to find it a tad difficult, when the other chief-exec's/club recruiters (who are actually worth their money) sharpen their blades and go out to play Christ on a Bike, he even struggles with Kieth feckin Wynness, and a player who's desperate to sign, with a buy-out clause in his contract If BR didn't truly understand the script before, he certainly must do now, and his reaction to yet another 'sit on your hands/wait it out'
if its james mccarthy your on about you are talking pish
Considering how much he was signed for we wouldn't even entertain the buyout clause. bang on mate

That's because you're a dinosaur, Roughie. You often wonder why Scotland are a backwater and haven't produced a player of note since the 80's.
Then you realise tubes like 'Roughie' and his ilk still have some influence on our game.

So now the negative stories start again - Brendan the target in the Herald -the week leading up to Sevco game looks to be interesting ,let´s see how many negative stories they can muster ! Looking on: Alan Rough has backed Craig Gordon to fight his way back into the Celtic side.

Scottish goalkeeping legend and former Celtic 'keeper Alan Rough has accused Brendan Rodgers of hanging Craig Gordon out to dry, after dropping him for new recruit Dorus de Vries.
Rough believes that the reasoning laid out by Rodgers for dropping Gordon for the game against Aberdeen – that he wasn’t comfortable enough with the ball at his feet – was a smokescreen.
In his opinion, the Celtic manager simply wanted to bring his own man in, and should have been honest enough to say that to Gordon.
“I’ve got bit of sympathy for Craig Gordon,” Rough said.
“He’s been hung out to dry. It’s the modern day and things have moved on but I can’t get my head around this thing about goalkeepers having to be good with their feet.
“I watch goalkeepers warming up now and it’s all about touch. But it’s a sorry day if you’re telling me Craig Gordon can’t make a 10 or 15 yard pass to a full back.
“I don’t know what the manager is looking to get out of him. You’ve got to be comfortable with the ball at your feet, but he’s not uncomfortable.
“I just think it’s an excuse to get his own guy in.
“Goalkeepers aren’t going to suddenly ping the ball 25 yards onto someone’s head on the halfway line. If you’re expecting that then you’re expecting miracles.
“Yes, Craig has lost bad goals but show me a goalkeeper who hasn’t.
“I’ve heard Dorus de Vries is quite injury prone and hasn’t played a lot of games but we’ll see what he’s got to offer when he gets a run.
“He’s supposedly better with his ball at his feet but last week he passed the ball straight to Adam Rooney.
“What are you judging a goalkeeper on? Surely it’s stopping the ball going in the back of the net.
“If De Vries starts losing bad goals do you keep him in the team because he’s better with the ball at his feet?
“The unfortunate thing for Craig is that he set an unbelievable standard when he first signed for Celtic and now people are judging him because he’s maybe not at the level.
“I’d give him the benefit of the doubt because he hasn’t had a settled back four and from my experience if you don’t know the two guys in front of you then you start trying to cover up for them.
“If a ball comes into the box and you know someone will go and win it then you’ll just stand on your line but sometimes you can get caught in two minds if you don’t know what the guy in front of you will do.
“When he lost the goal against Astana he was unfortunate when he came out and headed the ball and it went to the feet of an opposition player.
“You could say he lost a bad goal in Israel if you actually analyse it you can see his team-mate ran in to him. People say he should have been stronger but the guy ran into him while he was focused on the ball.”
Despite the setback of being benched, Rough has backed the Scotland goalkeeper to fight his way back into contention for his starting place in the Celtic side.
“Craig Gordon will be gutted but I’m sure he’ll convince Brendan Rodgers that he’s number one,” he said.
“It will take a couple of months to get back but he will be more determined.
“He’ll just have to wait and when he does get the chance they’ll realise what he’s missing because he’s a top class goalkeeper.
“I’m sure he’ll take it on board and do something about it because I believe he’s a better goalkeeper and the standard he set when he went in there was fantastic.”
It is perhaps little wonder that Rough sympathises with Gordon, as he had his own fair share of misadventures with the ball at his feet in his own playing days.
Rough’s problems though came from over-confidence rather than a lack of technical ability, fancying himself as quite the outfield player.
“I remember in 1979 we played England at Hampden," he said.
“Trevor Brooking got the ball on the halfway line and picked Kevin Keegan out wide with a pass. I saw the linesman putting his flag up for offside but Keegan didn’t.
“I ran out and got to the ball before him and nutmegged him. I ran to the halfway line when the referee said ‘Play on’. I was 40 yards up the pitch and started to panic, begging someone to take the ball off me!
“But that was about reading the game. And that’s what it’s all about rather than being comfortable with the ball at your feet."
I don't think the SMSM have yet realised that most of us could not give a eff for their, or their pet former players', views.

That's because you're a dinosaur, Roughie. You kind of have to admire the bravado of a newspaper printing an article based around the opinion of someone who explicitly states he doesn't understand the thing he's talking about.

That's an awful article with Rough.
Rodgers has had the honesty to come out and say what he thinks but yet it isn't good enough, it's an excuse because he wants to get his own man in.
Then Rough goes on to say that being a goalkeeper is all about shot stopping and hints that De Vries isn't good with the ball at his feet because of one game. Then he's 'heard' De Vries is injury prone and hasn't played a lot of games, didn't he play almost every game for Forest last season?
He states, quite wrongly, that Gordon is comfortable with the ball at his feet and then goes on to tell us that he's lost some bad goals but seems to be trying to make some sort of rationale for them.
What he's ignoring is that Gordon has been poor for a while now and has looked extremely uncomfortable since Rodgers arrived with trying to play in his formation.
I hope Rodgers is questioned over this at some point and we will see the comment destroyed in the manner he's done so far.

That's top class barrel scraping
Rodgers want's his "own man" in goals - well that's a shocker Alan, you would have thought he would bow to convention as a new manager and stick with the team he gets for ever. Failing that he should just tell the press the truth that he thinks Gordon is shampoo - as has been done by no manager ever. And how dare he suggest that keepers should be able to play the ball - its all about making saves (conveniently ignoring the number of times Gordon has failed to do so in important games)
They have spun and polished every turd in the Ibrox cesspit and are now looking to throw some of it about incase the real questions about their current financial state get asked.

Glad to hear him mention the need to be better at retaining the ball. If he can manage to coach that into the players while mostly playing against domestic teams who panic and give us the ball back after 3 passes he'll be doing well. Agree. I think don't think we've seen a truly possession oriented Celtic side for quite some time. We tend to just have the ball a lot because Scottish sides are so much worse at keeping the ball. The possession stat is always high, but not so much through design and there hasn't really been a need to actually be especially good at it.

I'm I the only one seeing the beginning of the lets try and undermine Rodgers campaign in the papers. Attempting to cast doubt in Celtic fans minds about his judgment. It's early days but a few ex players have now come out and bemoaning his treatment of Craig Gordon and his supposed ill treatment of him.
remember when the press thought we should play Kris Commons in every game? That's gone a bit quiet. Like Joe Hart , Gordon will have his pals in the press who think they know it better than the manager, yet they are being ghost-written for tabloid junk while BR moves forward apace. Trust the manager. Ignore the idiot snipers Commons was the example I was thinking about. The press used him being left out to undermine deila and get some fans against him from the very start though deila never helped himself. I just believe the press are starting to try and antagonise Rodgers as they see him a threat
