An enjoyable listen, but I have to confess the way Rodgers pronounces 'Kolo' makes me pine for Ronny.

It's brilliant that so many of us are so much looking forward to the next match
Best start to a season in a long time
Good time to be a Celtic fan
Absolutely. It is nice to feel this way about Celtic again as opposed to the dread that had been setting in.

Glad to hear him mention the need to be better at retaining the ball. If he can manage to coach that into the players while mostly playing against domestic teams who panic and give us the ball back after 3 passes he'll be doing well.

I hope we make sure he doesn't hear the CL music the next three times too because it will mean we are well up for it.
Good to hear him mentioning about the passing back. That is deffinitely something we fans are going to have to be more tolerant of. Clearly letting us know here that he is telling the players to play like that as a way to retain possession. Once the players improve further and are more comfortable with the ball, I reckon the passes back will reduce anyway. The crowd are generally less patient during domestic games than European games...and if Brendan can coach that impatience out of the crowd then he really is a miracle worker!

I'm I the only one seeing the beginning of the lets try and undermine Rodgers campaign in the papers. Attempting to cast doubt in Celtic fans minds about his judgment. It's early days but a few ex players have now come out and bemoaning his treatment of Craig Gordon and his supposed ill treatment of him.

Quite looking forward to seeing how he deals with the CL tactically.
We'll need to be very well drilled defensively, clever with our pressing and when we get the chance to pass and move we'll need to be spot on. The pace we have on the wings now will help.
As always, I'll be happy for us simple to prove we can compete at that level without getting spanked too heavily.

Lennon got it spot on in his first season in the champions league but pretty wrong in his second season. I think that was down to over confidence in the players, he thought they could do things they weren't good enough to do. I'm hoping Rodgers doesn't make the same mistake.

That's gone a bit quiet. Like Joe Hart , Gordon will have his pals in the press who think they know it better than the manager, yet they are being ghost-written for tabloid junk while BR moves forward apace. Trust the manager. Ignore the idiot snipers

The papers will have to try harder than that to undermine the gaffer.

The Celtic Support shouldn't bite on these winkers either - Gordon needs completion now he has got it - Good Managers see a problem and act on said problem to resolve it.

Is right
Ronny wasn't strong enough to handle that. I think Rodgers is. I am so sick of ex-players and the media thinking they can speak on our behalf. Those of us going to games know that Craig Gordon has not had a great start to the season. He finally has some competition for his spot after a couple of years of being guaranteed no.1. He can choose to knuckle down and try and force his way back in, but I know one thing, the media whining on his behalf won't hold any sway with Rodgers like it might have with Ronny. He wants back in, he can earn it.

So now the negative stories start again - Brendan the target in the Herald -the week leading up to Sevco game looks to be interesting ,let´s see how many negative stories they can muster !

Looking on: Alan Rough has backed Craig Gordon to fight his way back into the Celtic side.

Scottish goalkeeping legend and former Celtic 'keeper Alan Rough has accused Brendan Rodgers of hanging Craig Gordon out to dry, after dropping him for new recruit Dorus de Vries.
Rough believes that the reasoning laid out by Rodgers for dropping Gordon for the game against Aberdeen – that he wasn’t comfortable enough with the ball at his feet – was a smokescreen.
In his opinion, the Celtic manager simply wanted to bring his own man in, and should have been honest enough to say that to Gordon.
“I’ve got bit of sympathy for Craig Gordon,” Rough said.
“He’s been hung out to dry. It’s the modern day and things have moved on but I can’t get my head around this thing about goalkeepers having to be good with their feet.
“I watch goalkeepers warming up now and it’s all about touch. But it’s a sorry day if you’re telling me Craig Gordon can’t make a 10 or 15 yard pass to a full back.
“I don’t know what the manager is looking to get out of him. You’ve got to be comfortable with the ball at your feet, but he’s not uncomfortable.
“I just think it’s an excuse to get his own guy in.
“Goalkeepers aren’t going to suddenly ping the ball 25 yards onto someone’s head on the halfway line. If you’re expecting that then you’re expecting miracles.
“Yes, Craig has lost bad goals but show me a goalkeeper who hasn’t.
“I’ve heard Dorus de Vries is quite injury prone and hasn’t played a lot of games but we’ll see what he’s got to offer when he gets a run.
“He’s supposedly better with his ball at his feet but last week he passed the ball straight to Adam Rooney.
“What are you judging a goalkeeper on? Surely it’s stopping the ball going in the back of the net.
“If De Vries starts losing bad goals do you keep him in the team because he’s better with the ball at his feet?
“The unfortunate thing for Craig is that he set an unbelievable standard when he first signed for Celtic and now people are judging him because he’s maybe not at the level.
“I’d give him the benefit of the doubt because he hasn’t had a settled back four and from my experience if you don’t know the two guys in front of you then you start trying to cover up for them.
“If a ball comes into the box and you know someone will go and win it then you’ll just stand on your line but sometimes you can get caught in two minds if you don’t know what the guy in front of you will do.
“When he lost the goal against Astana he was unfortunate when he came out and headed the ball and it went to the feet of an opposition player.
“You could say he lost a bad goal in Israel if you actually analyse it you can see his team-mate ran in to him. People say he should have been stronger but the guy ran into him while he was focused on the ball.”
Despite the setback of being benched, Rough has backed the Scotland goalkeeper to fight his way back into contention for his starting place in the Celtic side.
“Craig Gordon will be gutted but I’m sure he’ll convince Brendan Rodgers that he’s number one,” he said.
“It will take a couple of months to get back but he will be more determined.
“He’ll just have to wait and when he does get the chance they’ll realise what he’s missing because he’s a top class goalkeeper.
“I’m sure he’ll take it on board and do something about it because I believe he’s a better goalkeeper and the standard he set when he went in there was fantastic.”
It is perhaps little wonder that Rough sympathises with Gordon, as he had his own fair share of misadventures with the ball at his feet in his own playing days.
Rough’s problems though came from over-confidence rather than a lack of technical ability, fancying himself as quite the outfield player.
“I remember in 1979 we played England at Hampden," he said.
“Trevor Brooking got the ball on the halfway line and picked Kevin Keegan out wide with a pass. I saw the linesman putting his flag up for offside but Keegan didn’t.
“I ran out and got to the ball before him and nutmegged him. I ran to the halfway line when the referee said ‘Play on’. I was 40 yards up the pitch and started to panic, begging someone to take the ball off me!
“But that was about reading the game. And that’s what it’s all about rather than being comfortable with the ball at your feet."
