You should be in the transfer thread, that's where all the positive stuff is going on.

Qualify and the transfer window could explode for us?

Did we blow up the computers and fail to make any moves?

Brendan just got his first lesson at Celtic. The more popular and successful you are the more we will make things difficult for you.

Right, since it's looking like that's us in terms of transfer business, it's down to Rodgers to get the best out of what we have. Like everyone else, I really think we needed another midfielder, but Brown has started this season like a new player and it wasn't so long ago Bitton was being talked about as a potential £10m player. If the change in Forrest and Brown is anything to go by, Rodgers may yet be able to get Bitton going again, and if he can then we're in good shape. Onwards and upwards.

Now that our transfer business in complete, what we thinking Brendan's preferred team is? I think he'll go 3-5-2 in Europe and 4-3-3 domestically.

Domestic line up:

De Vries

Gamboa
Toure
Sviatchenko
Tierney

Brown
Bitton
Rogic

Roberts
Griffiths
Sinclair

European:

De Vries

Lustig
Sviatchenko

Roberts should play in Europe too. He's better than Sinclair.

See above for Griffiths and Dembele.

I agree. I'm thinking of who Brendan will go with. His close bond with Sinclair might lead to him favouring him over Roberts in Europe. I would play Griffiths, in the home games especially. I think Brendan might interchange between both Griffiths and Dembele for these games.

You can tell by the signings that he has taken a lot of control away from Lawwell and Park. Delighted with that.
Our previous managers didn't have the same clout. Rodgers won't have signings made for him.
Especially on deadline-day, when he's already stated that he'd ideally like two. :brickwall:

Splob seems to find it a tad difficult, when the other chief-exec's/club recruiters (who are actually worth their money) sharpen their blades and go out to play :nono:

Christ on a Bike, he even struggles with Kieth feckin Wynness, and a player who's desperate to sign, with a buy-out clause in his contract :cuckoo:

If BR didn't truly understand the script before, he certainly must do now, and his reaction to yet another 'sit on your hands/wait it out' scenario, could well be the defining moment of his tenure as our manager.

If he can get Bitton consistenly playing well then we might just be alright, especially if he can coach a bit more defensive awareness into him. There's enough ability in guys like McGregor, Armstrong and Christie for Brendan to work with to make them really useful squad members too, and if he can work with the fitness team to get Rogic's stamina up so that he can not only last 90 minutes but do so twice in a week then we'll probably get away with not making the midfield signing that looked so necessary in this window. Domestically at least - but I wasn't expecting a great deal from the CL campaign once the draw was made anyway.

Rodgers was a coach before he was a manager, and he was a pretty good one by all accounts. Time for him to show that he can still do that.

Dembele might get the nod v Barca right enough due to his physical presence.

Can we get a generic moan about Lawwell thread as I'm fed up reading this on every effing thread.

Simunovic ( if fit ;) ) in MF, with Griffiths and Dembele up front, no wingers, would be my team.

I wouldn't be surprised to see us play 3-4-3/5-4-1 in Europe.

De Vries

Lustig
Toure
Sviatchenko

Gamboa
Brown
Bitton
Tierney

Roberts
Griffiths/Dembele
Sinclair

He might get the bod in all three away matches.
Griffiths doesn't offer an outball at that level.

As we've still got a whole load of centre halves on the books, I wonder if Rodgers will consider that KDS favourite tactic of trying to get one to play as a defensive midfielder? :ph43r:

To be fair I can actually see O'Connell being able to play that position reasonably well, he's a good passer of the ball, his positioning's pretty good and his lack of pace wouldn't be such a problem if his job is to sit in front of the centre halves rather than having to worry about strikers running off his shoulder and in on goal.

Not so sure about any of the other centre halves, although it might be a way back into the team for the bold Efe - after all he did well there against Raith Rovers so who's to say that he can't do the same against Barca and Man City? (That's not a wholly serious suggestion btw  )

Roberts will drop out for away games in Europe cause he lacks one thing pace.

Have people not been listening to Brendan? He goes on and on and on about it. Sinclair when fit will ALWAYS start.

Brown, Biton and Mcgregor (barring injuries) up against Barca and City, not to mention a rapid and powerful German side.

I hope Rodgers manages to get every last ounce of discipline and effort out of them.

I'd imagine that we might see Ajer in midfield in Europe. Probably as a sub for McGregor.

I love your optimism but the fact that he's only featured for the development squad since the season kicked off tells a different story.
