BTW, I was never convinced about Deila.
That "roar" thing used to annoy me after we'd scraped a 1:0 victory against the likes of Caley Thistle, etc. Although watching that programme on Internet Trolls last night it showed you the footage of Ronny and Jay doing it together. Just awesome stuff to see and for that reason alkne it was worth having it.
I would say though it was a special thing the roar at Pittodrie but it then seemed a bit of fun to keep the fans appeased.

I suspect the journo (wasn't he from the Sun?) was possibly put upto it by his paper. The original interview was on TalkSport, which IIRC is Murdoch owned, so in order to make a headline and promote the station in question the journalist might have had to bring the interview up. I also suspect that, in apparently going up to Rodgers to explain himself, he knows he's burnt his bridges at Celtic Park as a consequence and was trying his best to avoid the fall out.
In fairness, he did try to make some sort of connection to the game (admittedly an incredibly lame connection) although this doesn't take away the fact that, as described above, he is a complete moon unit. The stupidity of the follow up question is really something to behold. "Did you see the comments?" He's been busy preparing for Celtic's most important game of the season so far, what do you effing think?
Joey Barton can keep on with this stuff all season for all I care. He's only making himself look like an attention seeking idiot with too much time on his hands. Was a little concerned about this signing tbh. Have to say I'm utterly delighted at how it's panning out
Absolutely gash on the pitch, embarrassing off it, fighting with fans on twitter, possibly doing a book signing rather than playing a cup game, and going on and on and on about the Celtic. Couldn't be going any better.

Lenny “I was really pleased for Scott scoring his goal. Look, these players – Scott Brown, James Forrest, as well as the likes of Kris Commons and Charlie Mulgrew, who didn’t figure – have had a lot of criticism over the last two years.
“They’re not bad players and what Brendan has done is just tapped into them again. He looks like he’s getting the best out of them again.
“For a long time they were getting a lot of criticism from Celtic supporters which I don’t think was down to the players.
“Who’s fault was it? Well, who do you think? One day I will talk about it but I don’t think you need to be a rocket scientist to work it out.”
I really hope Lenny isn't coming out with this kind of pish. Ignoring the fact that, Commons aside, these players and others were pretty crap in his last season, you don't need to be a Rocket scientist to see that the club from the top down was putting itself in to a deep financial freeze until the Huns were back in some form. Assuming he isn't venting at Lawwell, which he clearly isn't, he would be as well getting his own career back to a decent standard again, rather than bitching about a cheapo project coach who was given the job to pass the time. Everything that we are doing now seems very different to how it's been over the last 3,4 or even 5 years. No talk of John Park or players being picked for the manager, Money being made available before CL qualification. You would think that Brendan was just getting the team back to the level that we saw in Lennys last season reading this crap. In reality it's a huge step up from the previous two coaches we have employed, but that's what happens if you employ an actual manager and do things properly. The reality is that while the football wasn't exactly scintillating, we still got nearly 100 points and got into the Champions League in Lennon's last season.
I know that people say that they're prepared to ditch the Champions League during transitional seasons, it makes the job much harder for the manager himself, for the fans, and for attracting players the following season with a smaller budget.
We then had the the same excuses trotted out a second year in a row, followed by the humiliation of utter trouncings off Europa league opposition, the acceptance of utter mediocrity as if it was part of some grand evolving plan.
Ronny was ruining Celtic. He came in a trashed Lennon's work in his own quiet way, talking about the fitness of players that he'd inherited. Spoke about turning them into this elite superfit outfit, while his belly hung over his underpants. They didn't buy into it, and were confused about his tactics, whatever they were supposed to be.
He should have been binned a lot earlier, because we can see the difference having a proper manager makes.
There's night and day between Rodgers and Deila, but at the same time, there's night and day between Lennon and Deila. Lennon took over a club in a mess and rebuilt it on the proceeds of the McGeady sale. He left us in a good position. Deila, from day one, lost us money hand over fist.
Rodgers is a step up from Lennon, but Lennon was taking his first role in management and he did us a turn under extremely trying circumstances. Deila's problems were all of his own making, in a job that was way too big for him from day one.

Warburton didn't choose Barton - never even turned up at his 'unveiling.' We are seeing now why as he attempts to defend this moron. The best Warburton could come up with was 'Barton is an avid reader.' I suppose that's one of the good habits you get into to combat the boredom of prison life.

Lenny and his press love in again I really like the guy but he's talking out his backside here. The players he mentioned have all underperformed over the last few years and the Celtic fans have rightly called them out for it. Mulgrew is a free agent maybe instead of moaning over the Celtic fans opinion of him he should offer the guy a contract at Hibs.

We don't need to be quite so fickle. NL gave me one of my best ever nights as a Celtic supporter. He did a more than decent job in difficult circumstances and was vilified by fans and press everywhere for his "combative style". He probably should have less to say, but at the end of the day he is most definitely one of us.

Lennon, and Deila both fell victim to the circumstances surrounding Scottish football at that time.
It could be argued that neither would have been given, or kept their jobs if the hun were still a strong competitive outfit. Both managers ultimately benefited and fell foul of the same situation to some degree.
There is of course the fact that each managerial/coaching appointment always produces plusses and negatives for the next guy.
Lenny wants to talk of how he developed Wanayma, Hooper, VVD and whoever else, but it works the same for Deila with Tierney, Griffiths, Rogic, and players that came to the club under him. If you want to criticise everything bad that happened, you can't always negate the good that comes out of a managers time too.
Brendan will inherit some positives from the previous guy, and have stuff that he wants to improve and clean up, just like Deila, just like Lenny, just like any other manager.
The fact that Lenny and Brendan are both dyed in the wool Celtic fans who were given the job with an instant seal of approval from fans and players alike means there is no comparison to some cheap option hired to see through a short period of domestic instability.
Brendan is showing what a step up we are getting in hiring an actual manager, someone who has total control, who has top level experience and is more valuable to the club than any player.
This is something we have not had for a long time, possibly going back to Strachan.
I really hope we don't see a continual need to slap the Norwegian whipping boy, not least when he still delivered the title and helped see some important players for us progress enough to potentially hit great heights under Brendan.
Lets just enjoy what Brendan is doing, but remember its still a lot to do with timing, the coming of age of certain players and the prestige that comes with employing a renowned manager once again.

If you think that Neil Lennon's appointment as manager got "an instant seal of approval from fans" then you couldn't have been paying attention.

Aye the gullible bought into Deila's fitness digs at Lennon - Like everything else about him his soundbites and ideology were found out over time - Just took a lot of people a while to see through it.
We ended up with a team that struggled to have 90 minutes in them despite all his bluffing.

Rangers were competitive enough with Lennon that they won the title in his first season at the club (albeit with more than a little help from their friends and the off the field antics of some of their nutjobs).
They had won two titles in a row when Lennon took over and then won a third. I'm not sure how you can square the circumstances of Lennon getting the job as a rookie and going on to rebuild us, with Ronnie getting the job as an experienced manager in Norway when Celtic had won three titles and our biggest challengers were Aberdeen, and going on to make us look beatable in every match.
There is nothing in what Lennon said that was wrong. Deila took a solid foundation and chipped away at it. We ended the season the disaster following disaster, and that was on top of the disasters of his first season.
He delivered the title, aye, but if he hadn't he would have been one of the worst managers in the world, never mind just one of the worst to manage Celtic.
He didn't have it, not at any time. It's good that Tierney came through under his watch, and he deserves credit for that. Not every single thing he did was an absolute disaster - no one is capable of that. He was, however, actively trying to punt on loan to Hibs the guy who would go on to score 40 goals for him - and who played the biggest part in winning the title.
What I will agree on is it's evident that the players bought so far are ones that Brendan Rodgers clearly wants. The obvious benefits are there to see. Both Lennon and Deila were hamstrung in this regard - however, I'd say that Deila had a habit of making good players look average in any case.
Ronny got a job he should never have got and he was in it far longer than it should be. It has nothing to do with him not being a Celtic fan or ex Celtic player.
There are dozens of ex players and fans out there who would love to get the job, but the fans wouldn't touch them with a barge pole. McGhee, Coyle, Keane being top of the list. It's an argument that's been done to death. No matter how many times it's said, it won't make it any more right.
