BR sounds utterly disgusted at the level of idiocy
As he should be.

Good that he is not willing to put up with it.
He's just treating them with the contempt they deserve.

He's just got us a bawhair from the CL at the first time of asking after a 7 goal thriller and this moon unit pipes up with this question. It would be funny if it wasn't so pathetic.

Journo tried to embarrass Brendan in front of all those press and he's only made himself look like a pie and probably burned his bridges.

Well handled.

That Barton guff is a complete embarrassment. The level of professionalism (or lack of) is unreal.

Not entirely surprising, but he handled it well all the same.

FS he must be dying to get back to the questioning he got from James Pearce and co. at the Echo. They were his best mates by comparison - at least they asked Brendan about the effing football!

Well handled again, though. Has no need to try and be nice up here; he's got nothing to prove. A little effing dog from The Sun too, I would have blanked the carrot.

Love it that he doesn't take kindly to stupid questions. Expect a lot of press hate towards him as the season progresses. If they hate him, he's doing something right. :worthy:
There won't be any press hate, they'll kiss his arse as long as he's successful.

At least Brendan will get to top up his "mid-life crisis" tan in Israel next week. No doubt he will have his teeth whitened as well for the first OF game with all the media attention
Joey Barton is a classic example of a half-wit who says things about people and always reacts with the "it was only harmless banter" reply when he is asked about it. When he stubbed that cigar out in the young guy's eye a few years back it was just some harmless horseplay that got out of hand. Honest.

I suspect the journo (wasn't he from the Sun?) was possibly put upto it by his paper. The original interview was on TalkSport, which IIRC is Murdoch owned, so in order to make a headline and promote the station in question the journalist might have had to bring the interview up. I also suspect that, in apparently going up to Rodgers to explain himself, he knows he's burnt his bridges at Celtic Park as a consequence and was trying his best to avoid the fall out.

In fairness, he did try to make some sort of connection to the game (admittedly an incredibly lame connection) although this doesn't take away the fact that, as described above, he is a complete moon unit. The stupidity of the follow up question is really something to behold. "Did you see the comments?" He's been busy preparing for Celtic's most important game of the season so far, what do you effing think?

Joey Barton can keep on with this stuff all season for all I care. He's only making himself look like an attention seeking idiot with too much time on his hands.

The hack, whoever he was, was definitely under instructions from his editor.

No need to make a drama out of a farce. A few missed stories will sort that arsewipe of a rag out.

does anyone actually know who the journo was? wondering why we think it was the sun? could easily have been some crappy junior journo under orders. grieve is the chief football writer for the sun so doubt he would be under orders?

Is there any clue anywhere as to who the journo was - i've not seen/heard anything to figure it out.

Also @ modest mouse you are right the company who own talk sport (wireless group) have recently just been bought over my news corp.

The guy is just a hun. Yesterday, all his tweets were in relation to Joleon Lescott - nothing at all about the game he was going to watch that evening.

They ask questions about sevco to get our guys to talk about them. They don't print their questions, only the responses so you never get to see the set up. BR gave the guy nothing to quote so he couldn't use the interaction in print.

Long may it continue.

yes, and he's not the player he used to be
all this bluster will detract from what he is actually meant to be doing

he will be shown up in the first game against them, especialy if Brown performs as we know he can.

and for the mods - i hope he has a slightly niggly injury that keeps him from performing at his best and he decides to leave and pursue a career elsewhere, giving the rest of us peace

If you have an Irish Mammy or Granny you soon learn when you are a youngster that when they glare at you and follow it up blanking you with sheer disdain you are completely fecked - We have one completely fecked journo - If Rodgers allows him back in to the media conferences he will bide his time and then end up destroying the rocket whether said rocket is sharp enough to notice will be highly debateable!!!!

Wish the green brigade would give up on that BR song.

It's a dirge.

The fact that it's not caught on yet around the full stadium should give them a hint at how bad it is.
