I think BR is laying out a marker to all the teams, and refs in the SPL: That we're done putting up with their shampoo and are watching them all closely.

Brendan Rodgers has given an insight into the meticulous attention to detail which he insists will leave his Celtic players with only themselves to blame if they fail to meet their targets this season. The former Liverpool boss saw the Scottish champions make a winning start to their Premiership title defence on Sunday when they recovered from the controversial concession of a penalty kick to beat Hearts 2-1 at Tynecastle. Rodgers has revealed he and his backroom team brief their players not only on their opponents ahead of matches but also provide analysis of the referee in charge. “It’s about us knowing as a staff that we have done absolutely everything for the players to gain that extra
1 per cent,” said Rodgers. “Then they don’t have any excuses. Creating that no excuse environment is very important. “It’s not homework, but the players are all given a document on the opponent. Everything is in there about the individual player they are playing against. We look at the offensive organisation of the opponent and the same defensively. We look at the different phases of transition, offensive and defensive. “We also study the referee. We look at the last 35 games of the ref and look at his form going into games. Does he give particular cards at a high level or not? “So we study the opponent and the referee in depth. But then it is the choice of the player. It’s never forced onto them. “All of them will take away a document that will allow them to be fully 100 per cent prepared for the game. “Some will read it religiously, read every letter that is on there. Some, I’m sure, will set it down after ten seconds and not look at it again.” While reaching the Champions League group stage and winning a sixth consecutive title for the club are Rodgers’ main objectives, he is keen to succeed in every competition. Rodgers is content with the currently demanding schedule of two games every week in different competitions. “It just means you have to use various tools to help them develop,” he added. “They are playing Wednesday, recovering Thursday so the nutrition is important in order to maximise their loading for the next game. “We do lots of video, individually and in team analysis and on top of that we work on the field. There is an awful lot of work being poured into them.” http://www.scotsman.com/sport/football/teams/celtic/brendan-rodgers-meticulous-in-preparing-celtic-players-1-4197775
That really is delicious reading. Great stuff.

I think we can safely say that Collum et al won't give a eff about us watching them. They report to the SFA, and the SFA isn't going to suddenly become a competent and respectable organisation just because Brendan Rodgers is manager of Celtic.

Direct your pish away from my chips, sir... I don't think it's to get them to change how they work, but to get the players aware of it. Could do absolutely nothing, could be the difference between a player making a tackle on a yellow if he's aware the ref has been fond of handing out cards recently.
All sounds like something designed to sound more useful than it actually is, but I'm fine with that.

Think it's perfectly designed to fire a warning shot across the bows.
And pretty well executed, too

No way Rodgers expects players to pull out of 50/50s based on a referee's recent attitude to foul play.
He's sending a subtle, implicit, MON-esque message to all of Scotland that every card is marked, and it's effing class.
You see the disdain in his eyes when he is asked silly questions, but he answers them fairly and kindly. The eyes say one thing, his words say another. The same goes for telling the media about the referee stuff - that ain't for the players; it's for the media and the refs.
He's miles ahead of anything else in Scottish football.

He's miles ahead of anything else in Scottish football. No offence mate, but that's a lot of rubbish. The 'referee report' is clearly for the benefit of the players as no manager worth his salt would dedicate his staff's time to analysing a referee's performance to the level that Rodgers' is for some cheap soundbite.
He is miles ahead of anything else in Scottish football but for exactly the opposite reasons of what you've posted.

It almost feels a little laughable and unfair when you listen to him talking and compare it to the intellectual giants Neilson, McInnes or Warburton. Like Napoleon playing war games in a nursery play ground.

Apparently that's the third game of five under Brendan Rodgers where we have scored a match-changing goal after 75 minutes. Ronny Deila only managed 7 in 117 games. I was thinking about that on Sunday. The best sides always have a knack of scoring important goal late on.
Rodgers seems willing to force the game by making tactical changes and subs. Ronny seemed content to wait and hope something happened.

That was my first thought. No they won't and Rodgers is not Jock who took them on and had them bricking it but the psychology of being on their case and if necessary calling them out on their hypocrisy by a recognised big name Manager will have them nervous as to what they can consistently get away with for their fellow brethren.

Agreed, players will know (if they read it) that Ref A is a stickler for yellow cards for xy type of foul, Ref B will be more lenient with xy foul etc etc etc
