Likewise I haven't felt as optimistic about Celtic since we hammered Rangers 6-2. You knew then something special was happening. Similar feeling this time round with Brendan.

All pointing in the right direction. Looking at the recovery of form from Brown and the rejuvenation of Forrest underlines that successful football is invariably about good management.
A confident team believes it can win a game even when it is behind. Ronny Deila's team (and Mowbray's) was beaten as soon as it lost a goal. Makes me wonder what on earth was going on with our board when he was hired, and while millions was being spent on mediocre players who have been quickly found out by Rodgers.
What a waste the last 2-3 years has been.

Not to piss on anyone's chips, but if you look back at the Deila and Mowbray threads at various points, you'll probably read similar comments to the ones in the last page or so. Hardly a criticism, as football fans we are entitled to feel optimistic when things look to be going well.
Still early days with some big tests to come, but I'm hopeful he'll come through them and be a huge success.

That's a fair comment.
Like Rodgers himself, we shouldn't get carried away as we've only played one league game.
The final 5 games we have this month will go a long way to determining how events could unfold this season, and hopefully in a glorious way.

While each new manager brings enthusiasm, we haven't had anything close to the confidence of Rodgers - both in his tactics and his personality - since MON. Couple that with proper investment, promising signings, and the way he has handled himself in the press, and I can't really argue with the excitement we are seeing.

Brendan Rodgers has given an insight into the meticulous attention to detail which he insists will leave his Celtic players with only themselves to blame if they fail to meet their targets this season. The former Liverpool boss saw the Scottish champions make a winning start to their Premiership title defence on Sunday when they recovered from the controversial concession of a penalty kick to beat Hearts 2-1 at Tynecastle. Rodgers has revealed he and his backroom team brief their players not only on their opponents ahead of matches but also provide analysis of the referee in charge. “It’s about us knowing as a staff that we have done absolutely everything for the players to gain that extra
1 per cent,” said Rodgers. “Then they don’t have any excuses. Creating that no excuse environment is very important. “It’s not homework, but the players are all given a document on the opponent. Everything is in there about the individual player they are playing against. We look at the offensive organisation of the opponent and the same defensively. We look at the different phases of transition, offensive and defensive. “We also study the referee. We look at the last 35 games of the ref and look at his form going into games. Does he give particular cards at a high level or not? “So we study the opponent and the referee in depth. But then it is the choice of the player. It’s never forced onto them. “All of them will take away a document that will allow them to be fully 100 per cent prepared for the game. “Some will read it religiously, read every letter that is on there. Some, I’m sure, will set it down after ten seconds and not look at it again.” While reaching the Champions League group stage and winning a sixth consecutive title for the club are Rodgers’ main objectives, he is keen to succeed in every competition. Rodgers is content with the currently demanding schedule of two games every week in different competitions. “It just means you have to use various tools to help them develop,” he added. “They are playing Wednesday, recovering Thursday so the nutrition is important in order to maximise their loading for the next game. “We do lots of video, individually and in team analysis and on top of that we work on the field. There is an awful lot of work being poured into them.” http://www.scotsman.com/sport/football/teams/celtic/brendan-rodgers-meticulous-in-preparing-celtic-players-1-4197775

There is a mentality in the team. The football will come later That is a massive thing so far, the exact opposite of the last manager who thought he could immediately change the football only for it to fail and the players then spent two years hiding Spot on. I backed Deila to the end and blamed a lot on the players. Yes some of them were guilty of chucking it but Deila was an idealist and was ultimately out his depth. No doubt this experience will set him in good stead for his future jobs. Just now I'm just happy we have Rodgers. Listening to him, he says all the right things and you believe it. With Deila it was 'yeah that sounds good. Hope it works'. With Rodgers you just know it's going to work.

Nice to think that McLean, Muir, Madden etc now know that we are studying their every move. Might make them think twice about following their natural instincts.

As an ordinary fan I am obviously not privy to exactly what went into our match preparation when Neil Lennon or Ronny Deila were Celtic manager. I am going to go out on a limb though and say I think it is reasonable to imagine that the level of professionalism within Celtic Park has risen considerably in the past month compared to what it has been in recent years. This can only be a good thing.
The more I hear from Brendan Rodgers the more I like him.

fair comment
the difference this time is that he is slowly but surely getting control over the whole football dept and transfers - remember this is what MON had and it worked
6 weeks for sinclair was ridiculous and it wasn't down to BR or even villa - but judging from Phils blog yesterday BR has DD's ear
i hope we get by the israelis as if we do the feelgood factor will rocket and even more cash will be available

I think BR is laying out a marker to all the teams, and refs in the SPL: That we're done putting up with their shampoo and are watching them all closely.

I also hope its not just an explanation of his meticulous planning but also a shot across the bows of the SFA and refs... A boot up the arse they haven't had since the days of the bunnet or even MON
