Everybody on here needs to calm the feck down. Celtic will win by at least five clear goals and the squad assessment continues. A few more signings to follow with departures also. We have a first class manager and he dealt with the press the way a manager of that ilk should. Keep the faith and chill out drama drama
Really, by saying that something which was clearly so, isn't ? That is not dealing with the press properly. He just made himself look silly.
Perhaps he is a manager who slates his players privately and gives the press little to get their teeth into. How many times did you hear MON or Strachan slate their players publicly? It was the opposite. The number of times MON enthused about a dreadful performance, or Strachan got pelters for defending the indefensible is legendary.
Rodgers knows exactly what last night was. He just didn't feel like sharing it.
A good manager will, at times, take the heat off the players by drawing criticism on himself, as others have said, MON and Strachan did it.

How long was it before we had a shot on goal last night, Rogic around 37 minutes?
The performance was a disgrace and I'm still seething 24 hours later.
The Red Imps deserved their victory and no amount of possession stats or 'ifs and buts' changes that.

The post match interviews are just pantomime, bread and games for the masses. You can either give the media additional fuel for the fire or spout a few banalities and platitudes. I don't care what Brendan said. I'm sure he's quite aware of the magnitude of the defeat and the embarrassment. All I care about is how he reacts and what he does to improve things.

Not sure I would say they deserved to win.

I agree about the performance and like you I'm still disgusted and wish it was next Wednesday already.

Unfortunately his comments post match last night are entirely predictable and exactly the reason he got ridiculed at Liverpool. If that result last night wasn't embarrassing then what result is?
Agree. Was the thing i disliked about him most at Liverpool and after the game I feared he would come out with something like that, last night was the very definition of embarassing. Im all for being loyal to your players in the press but theres limits

reaction here has been mental. if we fail to go through next week then i can see alot of people calling for his head.
im backing rodgers big time but of course there would be. getting knocked out of europe by that team would be a sackable offence
IF we go out to Imps, DD should sack either (if not both of) PL or Brendan that very evening - there should be no doubt about that

I'd rather he didn't destroy the players in public and kept that for the dressing room to be honest

Not asking him destroy them but as someone else posted, is it too much to ask for him to say the result was totally unacceptable?

I think the answer to that one is a no brainer.

If we go out next week BR's job should be safe. The man who put together this squad and who has clearly refused to sufficiently back numerous managers in transfer windows should be gone and a new, fresh approach should be put in place.

He'd survive it though. How he survived Legia is beyond me.

Quoting limited to 3 levels deep

I just don't see what difference it makes as long as he gets tore into them in the dressing room, which I'm sure he would have.

Lennon was able to bring in Hooper, Juarez, Ledley, Kayal, Mulgrew, Stokes, Forster and Majstorovic in his first summer and the team had his mark on it straight away. We need to find a way of doing similar for Rodgers because this current group is cloaked in failure.
Slightly different in that Lennon had 2/3 months of the previous season to weed out the dross and recognise what was needed going into his first full season. The position we're in now only underlines the calamatous decision to allow Ronny Deila to do his dead man walking routine after Molde.

Calm yourselves. Money will be spent on the back of this tie, im happy with overhaul happening at the squad and firmly believe many last night will be sold off the back of what was a disgraceful and embarrassing result. We will win the tie comfortably next week and qualify for the champions league

I don't think we will spend anything before the return leg - even if we did they would be ineligible

I don't mean a panic buy. I reckon the purse strings will loosen a little more on the back of that result . We don't need any additions to beat that team at celtic park. Still reckon the overall score will be 7-1

Not so sure they will - my view is that the bulk of any transfer budget will be bassed on qualification for the groups (leaving us little time to get anyone in and allowing the window to slam shut on my shattered dreams yet again  )

This result will in the long run prove to be a good thing. Results like the last home game against Motherwell has given a false sense of what the squad is capable of when they are up for it but there is absolutely no doubt now that too many are gutless and incapable of change no matter who the manager is.

Did you see the game last night!? I try to be optimistic but with those imposters quite categorically we are not going to qualify for the champions league - fact. Need some major surgery a la 4/5 nah forget it 6 players who can fit into our first team not squad that can go straight in. I don't know if the board have the bottle to do that for the manager as well as getting rid of another 7/8 players.

Love your optimism but unfortunately it's misplaced after consecutive performances in Europe with the same bunch of chancers

Edit- you do understand after next week we have a further two rounds of vastly improved opposition ....qualifying unfortunately ain't happening unless major quick surgery
