The worrying thing for me is his response to all this. There is a very much a "nothing to see her attitude" in my opinion.

I get the impression that with Allardyce going to England he'll be touting himself for Sunderland . His comments on Talksport for someone who claims to support the club show someone who has no understaning of the depth of feeling here.

Last night was an occasion when heads have to roll. If Rodgers is one of those so be it

Oh how we laughed.

He wasn't serious. Every post he makes is tongue in cheek ffs

Either that or he's a god damn genius :o

Obviously disappointing but we were by far the better team and deserved to win the game. The pitch was terrible and it had one of those nights written all over it. It's abundantly clear we need a complete overhaul of the team. Too many guys have wasted too many chances. I expect us to hammer this team next week but Brendan has his work cut out - that much is for certain.
We weren't by far the better team, and did not deserve to win the game. Don't know what game you watched.

After they went 1-0 up, they went very close on two separate occasions to extending their lead.

Match stats wise we had 5 shots on target, to their 4. We had a total of 13 shots, to their 9. We had 5 corners to their 2.
We bossed the game from start to finish. We hit the bar twice. We lacked quality in the final third (surprise surprise) but we WERE the better team, of course we were. That's not to say that is any big deal since they are complete pish. It's a massive wake-up call - that is for sure.
2 shots against the bar, Armstrong missing a great chance, a goal disallowed & Cifcti being denied by a great save suggests to me we were the better team. Agree that isn't saying much.

we have heard every manager spout nonsense after embarrassing defeats from lennon and ronny to mon and strachan.

what he said after it is the least of our issues, its how he deals with it in the dressing room and how he and the players respond. we all know he knows it was an embarrassment just like mon knew we were noy always "astonishingly brilliant"

after match comments like last night will only be a worry if its a regular occurence and there is no backlash from the team.
Yeah post match press conferences are way down the list of things to be angry at after last night.

I mind Roy Keane saying how Alex Ferguson would always publicly defend his players after a pish result but get tore into them behind closed doors.

still assessing the squad it seems.

Don't expect major changes for the 2nd leg.
if he believes the shampoo he was talking in that interview we are in trouble.
Stopped listening after BR said it was refreshing working with the players.
That is rubbish.
I don't expect BR to say that these Celtic players are of a lesser standard than what he's used to at Liverpool but "refreshing to work with them" geez a break.
I would guess that be went on to say that they work hard In training and have done everything he's asked of them..
No no no Brendan.

What annoyed me and is still annoying me is the fact he said it wasn't an embarrassment...he should have bee sitting at my desk today listening to every Hun, every EPL plastic I've never been to a game ball bag, and even supporters of diddy teams in England ridicule that result...mostly, as the only Tim in the office, at my expense, I couldn't even defend it in any way...no not embarrassing at all

Can't believe people get angry at public comments by managers. He needs them behind him to be a success and isn't going to publicly slaughter them at this early stage.

What he does in private is a different story.

I think this probably is quite near the mark. Apparently BR isn't the hairdryer type and doesn't shout and swear at players, but he tells them when they need to get the finger out.

75% possession, woodwork hit twice and a goal chalked off - We will take them next week but this should at least pressure our board into signing Sinclair and Toure hopefully.

Nobody can say we bossed that game from start to finish with any credibility.
Id say having 75% possession goes a long way to controlling the game

Id also say the manager probably thought we'd get past these imps giving the club further time to land the right players to bring in - OK last night didnt go to plan but shampoo happens but we will go through

The words he was using in the post match was "Don't worry, it's no big issue" but you could see from his body language, and how he was coming across that he was animated and pissed off. The players will have been telt.

Thing is, I don't expect him to say for example, "that the players looked scared" like Ronnie did after Malmo.

But is it asking too much to say that result was totally unacceptable.

It was embarrassing and to pretend otherwise just makes him look stupid.

Everybody on here needs to calm the feck down. Celtic will win by at least five clear goals and the squad assessment continues. A few more signings to follow with departures also. We have a first class manager and he dealt with the press the way a manager of that ilk should. Keep the faith and chill out drama drama

Really, by saying that something which was clearly so, isn't ? That is not dealing with the press properly. He just made himself look silly.

Perhaps he is a manager who slates his players privately and gives the press little to get their teeth into. How many times did you hear MON or Strachan slate their players publicly? It was the opposite. The number of times MON enthused about a dreadful performance, or Strachan got pelters for defending the indefensible is legendary.
Rodgers knows exactly what last night was. He just didn't feel like sharing it.

Boab.

I am not expecting him to say publicly that Efe won't play again or Biton's effort is suspect.

But it was what it was. To try and pretend otherwise just looks daft. It like Craig Brown saying, "we won more corners"
